We are in love: With Jibacoa and the great people that work there. This was a lovely resort with great hardworking staff. We couldn't have asked for more (and the price was good) The scenery is excellent..Giant jungle covered rolling hills surround the resort...the grounds are beautiful and well kept...and the beach is wide with nice enough sand and lots of palapa's and lounge chairs. To the right side of the beach bar is a good area to practise snorkelling...drop offs, reefs, sea grass, and fish, and to the left is a good swimming area. The restuarants are pretty good...different themes most nights...Cuban, Mexican, Seafood, etc. The bars are also good...Pool Bar, Beach Bar, Lobby Bar, Piano Bar and the Disco. The entertainment at night is okay...just don't expect big time shows and you will have a nice evening. The resort has lots of tours to offer: Cave Tours, Bridge Tours, Havana, Varadero, Scooter tours and Walking Tours..The thing I loved best was climbing through the jungle to the top of a very high hill behind the resort...and the walking tour on the way down was great. We went through a beautiful valley, seen the farmhouses and met the people that live there. It was a big hill to climb but I did it to celebrate my 50th birthday...I had to be "on top of the hill" before I was "over the hill". Now for the other stuff: It is a very quiet resort in an isolated area, you have to join in the activities and be friendly, or you might get a little bored...But there are dozens of things to do if you want to participate. The rooms are very clean and simpley furnished, we found the second floor much nicer than the ground floor. We were moved due to an air-conditioning problem. The staff are polite and quick to serve which is amazing seeing some of them work 12 to 17 hour shifts! If they look a little tired...that is because of the long hours and up to a 1 1/2 hour bus ride to get there and again back home. I would definately recommend Breezes Jibacoa to those of you looking for a nice "away from the city" resort. Bonus: You don't even need much money at the resort as everything is included (even snorkelling, scuba, and catamaran) You just pay for shopping and most tours...the walking tours are free. It is a NO TIPPING resort...but it is nice to discreetly shake their hand, and slip them a dollar. We had a great time and hope to return next year. Considering this resort is only around four years old, we met many people who were on their 4th, 5th or 6th visist. Have a great holiday! (and bring little gifts) They appreciate them very much.
