We are in love: With Jibacoa and the great people that work there. This was a lovely resort with great hardworking staff. We couldn't have asked for more (and the price was good) The scenery is excellent..Giant jungle covered rolling hills surround the resort...the grounds are beautiful and well kept...and the beach is wide with nice enough sand and lots of palapa's and lounge chairs. To the right side of the beach bar is a good area to practise snorkelling...drop offs, reefs, sea grass, and fish, and to the left is a good swimming area. The restuarants are pretty good...different themes most nights...Cuban, Mexican, Seafood, etc. The bars are also good...Pool Bar, Beach Bar, Lobby Bar, Piano Bar and the Disco. The entertainment at night is okay...just don't expect big time shows and you will have a nice evening. The resort has lots of tours to offer: Cave Tours, Bridge Tours, Havana, Varadero, Scooter tours and Walking Tours..The thing I loved best was climbing through the jungle to the top of a very high hill behind the resort...and the walking tour on the way down was great. We went through a beautiful valley, seen the farmhouses and met the people that live there. It was a big hill to climb but I did it to celebrate my 50th birthday...I had to be "on top of the hill" before I was "over the hill". Now for the other stuff: It is a very quiet resort in an isolated area, you have to join in the activities and be friendly, or you might get a little bored...But there are dozens of things to do if you want to participate. The rooms are very clean and simpley furnished, we found the second floor much nicer than the ground floor. We were moved due to an air-conditioning problem. The staff are polite and quick to serve which is amazing seeing some of them work 12 to 17 hour shifts! If they look a little tired...that is because of the long hours and up to a 1 1/2 hour bus ride to get there and again back home. I would definately recommend Breezes Jibacoa to those of you looking for a nice "away from the city" resort. Bonus: You don't even need much money at the resort as everything is included (even snorkelling, scuba, and catamaran) You just pay for shopping and most tours...the walking tours are free. It is a NO TIPPING resort...but it is nice to discreetly shake their hand, and slip them a dollar. We had a great time and hope to return next year. Considering this resort is only around four years old, we met many people who were on their 4th, 5th or 6th visist. Have a great holiday! (and bring little gifts) They appreciate them very much.

First of all to the gang from Calgary, sorry I did not get a chance to say goodbye - I was showered and it was hot on the beach - okay maybe it was the last drink or five - or plain jealousy that you were all there for two weeks, Hughie for 4 and me for only one!I would definitely return to this resort - as so many others have - there were a lot of people who have vacationed here before - what a great recommendation. The grounds are lovely, well-tended and maintained, as is the whole resort. The food is abundant and very good - better than many places in Veradero I was told. The staff are helpful, friendly and really want you to enjoy your stay. A small one US dollar tip goes a long way. Your chambermaid will impress you with great towel art - particularly if you add some sample cosmetics or other drugstore stuff to your tip.Do bring a drinking mug or whatever - it's not the size of the plastic glasses - it's the waste - every drink is another glass and into the trash - we owe it as guests of the country to assist in that.Do not miss Havana - go on one of the tours or one you arrange with a taxi - it's an amazing city - the architecture is everything you imagined. You will get pan-handled on the street (what big city does not have that!) - I wish I had a ton of pencils and pens to give to the kids that were asking for those. Many women were asking for skin lotion (sun mostly) - sample sizes would go a long way.The resort has everything you need - and you can have as fun as you decide to have. It is not a 'party palace' which suited almost everyone there (except perhaps a couple of gals from TO)..... There are honeymooning couples, folks celebrating their wedding anniversaries, singles, couples, groups....You will not find Americans - and although not all of them are bad travellers, their absence was gratefully noticed by the Canadians and the Europeans. My theory is that the people in Cuba have not been trained to dislike tourists - and not having Americans has helped in that attitude.Returning visitors made sure to bring along crayons, pencils, socks, small items and intended to leave behind articles of clothing. The serving staff tend to get tips and 'things' - these other items can make their way to nearby towns where the folks do not have as much contact with tourists. This was my first all inclusive and it was fantastic all you need is your key and you are set and those on handy plastic bracelets so almost impossible to lose. Even the room safe was included! You cannot imagine how relaxed and freeing that one thing makes you feel.Don't hesitate - call your agent, pack your swimsuit and go (any time of year!) If anyone has specific questions I would be pleased to answer them.

My husband and I just returned from Breezes on Sept 22nd having been there for 2 weeks with friends who were returning for their second trip to this hotel. It was a wonderful trip and would go back again in a heartbeat. Food was great, Italian restaurant was fantastic but book early. At this resort you can be as busy or as lazy as you want to be.
If you are bored then it's your own fault because they certainly offer enough activities. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is that it is a little isolated and you need to take a tour to see anything but as I said the resort has so much to do that for two weeks we were more than happy. Our friends are already planning their trip back in March of 2004.

I have to say first off that this website is an EXCELLENT resource when planning a trip. It worked wonders on this one as my wife and I were previously planning on going elsewhere at a higher price. As a consequence of reading reviews posted here, we changed our plans and we had a fantastic time for cheaper!!

The Jibacoa is a great place to stay....grounds are well maintained, beach is great, rooms are very nice and well kept. Food is above average but don't expect fine dining...even at the two a la carte places. Having said that, the food in general is abundant and quite good.

Drinks are a plenty but bring your own cups/mugs if your a beachcomber since the cups that are provided are quite small which make for some additional trips to the beach bar even if you're not a heavy drinker.

There is loads to do on the grounds, lots of cool stuff is included especially if you're into marine activities. Boat trips, snorkel gear, SCUBA lessons (which are typically pricey) are all included and are overseen by top notch personnel who are both over-qualified and friendly. This friendliness extends to pretty much everyone who works this resort and getting to know these people was a pleasure. The no-tipping policy is quite annoying but can be overcome quite easily provided the person you want to tip isn't far from your table when you get up to leave.

The scooter tours (as mentioned in other reviews) are exceptional!!
Excellent value and alot of fun. The scooter tours are usually less expensive than identical "canned" tour bus type adventures but you see the same thing. There are loads to choose from...so really take your pick. Unfortunately we didn't get to go on any of the city tours, but the two we did get to do (horse ranch and shopping tour) were great. We did hear alot of great things of the city tours and would also recommend one of them in place of the shopping tours.

One thing that holds true with the other reviews on this site is the lack of nightlife. If you're looking for Cancun type clubbing this isn't the place for you. However if you're after a great mix of relaxing fun in the sun with lots of other great activities then this is your place. The resort is nestled at the base of some very high and lush hills which makes for a fantastic backdrop but also isolates it a bit from the core of the city(s).

This was our first trip to Cuba and we will certainly be going back and will be staying at the Jibacoa when we do return.

Hi my name is Tanya, my boyfriend Ilia and I were staying at Breezes
jibacoa on Aug.23-aug.29. It was an exellent choice. Satisfaction-100%.
I don't wanna repeat how beautiful resort is, as many people said. I
wanna give some pieces of advise (as it's tripadvisor.com) As you
know, all drinks are free and belive me, bartenders are not greedy with
alcohol, sometimes u feel more alcohol than a fruit taste, which some
drinks shoul have:) Better bring with you an isolated mugs, which help
you enjoy the cold drink and you won't run to the bar every 5 minutes.
it was really hot, so ice melted like in 2 minutes:))
If you go to Havana( u should, it's a beautiful city)
please take with you tissue and hand sanitizer, becuase public
washrooms are sooooooooooo bad there.
U should try scuba diving lessons- it's a great experience. I was a bad student, so i failed the test in the swimming pool. Even though I had a great time:))
Scooter tours- are totally worth. U will see real Cuban life( don't forget to take some presents, becuase Cuban people will give you to try sugar cane, papaya and etc. and u won't feel uncomfortable not giving them back smth as well.
We met a lot of nice people. Wanna say HI to Bill and Engie, as i know they read this website.
if you have any question, feel free to email me.
I had so many questions in my head before the trip, so i totally understand you!!

see ya, Tanya and Ilia.
