Myself and two girlfriend just got back on August 23, 2003. The resort was unbelievable. The Lobby and surrounding structure are of Cuban/Italian design (very inviting) We each had our own bed with plenty of room to spare. The room was bright and spacious and walked out onto the pool area. The view of the beach from the outdoor lobby area was picturesque. It rained for a bit a couple of times but honestly who cares that's nature. The sand on the beach was very course brown unlike the white soft sand of Varadero apparently. But you know sand shouldn't really make or break a vacation, what are you going to do eat it? I like variety in my meals and the buffet meals provided that. Plus you can do a little fine dining at the Italian and Cuban restaurants (prebooked of course and one of each per week.) 24 hour Lobby bar and snack times are very convenient for those on the go or for the late arrivals. The beach grill offered food and drink for those who couldn't pull themselves off the beach during the day. They have a variety of drinks to sample from ordinary to the extraordinary. (Beer and wine to pina coladas and rum punches plus many many more). I went sailing on a small catamaran and it was heavenly with a terrific view of the resort and the mountains behind. There are so many activities offered there I didn't have time to try them all-next time. Many couples were vacationing there and we had a blast meeting so many people from all over, take a note pad for email addresses of the people you get to know. The staff are so friendly and helpfulf. A simple hello and thankyou go along way remember that. The staff are there to make sure that you have the best time possible-utilize them. If you don't ask how will you know. Learn a couple of words in Spanish, it will go along way. Gloria-reception , Dyanna-Lobby Bar, Alfonso-manager, Omar-Bartender at the disco are just a few of the amazing staff there. Get to know them and you will be better for it. There are so many other things that are great about this place but I'm running out of room. I think I have my parents hooked on this place and they have travelled alot. Don't forget treats for housekeeping staff. Bug spray, Peptol and band aids( from all the dancing) plus a little extra cash for scooter rides and tours. Havana especiale was AWESOME-9 am til 1 am Tropicana included-spectacular. Havana is great for dipping into the culture and checking out the old and new sections. Remember this if you go to Cuba...you are not in Canada anymore. The trip will be what you make it. Go with an open attitude with the goal of making new friends and learning about Cuba and I promise it won't be a trip you will soon forget. oh and Gloria if you read this....Cindy, Bobbi and Stacy will be seeing you later.

We first off want to thank our travell agent at Flightcenter for recommending SuperClubs Breezes Jibacoa. She was completely right the place was outstanding. From the second we arrived we knew this was going to be a wonderful weekend and Honeymoon. We arrived late at night and hungry but no problem, there are 24 hour snacks and I'm not just talking about chips and peanuts. It was a buffet table with Pizza, hot dogs, fried chicken, hamburgers ets. our bags were takenright away to our room withouta any delays or having us ask for it. We enjoyed it all, the Jecuzy, games room loved the food at the beach grill. Had an awsome beach view room. Wonderful maid that left us with decorative towel figures such as swans, hearts andbutterflies(tip the maids or leave them gifts such as deoderant, toothbrushes, shamppos, soaps etc. and they will love you for it. These items mean nothing to us but they mean the world to them). It would simply take too long to mention everything we loved about this resort. We even miss the nightly and often cheesy shows hosted by the hillerious mr. Massimo. We had a wonderful almost movie like experience and can't wait to go back. I'll even admit that I got teary eyed on our last night there when at the nightly show Massimo said goodbye to us. It was just like summer camp for adults. If you read any bad comments about this resort i'ts probably because they were written by a bunch of winny people or as I like to call them..."MEATHEADS". Yes I met a couple of them there. There is always one or two around , mainly from Quebec.

The food was great. The wine??? Spanish, which is not my taste. Cigar store on site raised some questions in my mind when I had trouble finding a factory sealed box on their shelves. Good people but dirt poor. No tipping policy is more of a pain than a plus because you have to give well earned tips under the table. Or forget it like you are supposed to. Hats. baseballs. and toys are appreciated as gifts.

This was my second visit to Cuba (the first time i stayed at Tuxpan in Varadero) and this time my boyfriend and I stayed at Breezes Jibacoa.
[You should know that priorto making my decions, I read all the reviews on tripadvisor and it really helped me, especially once i got there! So kudos to the previous tripadvisor contributors :) Thanks for the input.]

First of all, I wasnt sure what to expect in respect to the weather, going to Cuba from the end of June to beginning of July.
Unsurprisingly, it is HOT. But as long as you are on the beach, the wind neutralizes everything and its all good. Everyday, we had one magnificent rainstorm that would fill up the sidewalks and flood everything and soak everyone. But it would end almost as soon as it began and everything would dry again in a hour.

Physically, the resort is gorgeous. As soon as you walk into the resort, you feel like you are truly somewhere special. The landscaping, palm trees, the water and beach and the surrounding hills dotted with horses all help to enhance the environment. It is especially beautiful at sundawn...try not to miss it.

The customer service was average. We found the dinner staff to be the most helpful (motivated by tips for pouring wine, etc) but the breakfast staff were terribly slow and almost unhelpful at times.
Service in the al carte restaurants were superb, so dont miss those dining opportunities.

Personally, I found the food to be a real challenge because I dont eat meat and they put meat into almost all the dishes. I found the food to be much more acommodating to my diet at LTI Tuxpan. Additionally A LOT of people walked away with rather upset stomachs at times, so bring a suppply of pepto bismol, immodium, gravol etc. The food is pretty good (if you eat meat, my boyfriend can attest to that) but it may challenge your insides at times :)

One thing I would recommend is organizing yourself asap at the resort.
It was extremely unclear and confusing on how things worked. For example, there are three restaurants to attend, but you are informed of only two. As soon as you get there, sign up for all three. Even though the resort was half empty, the reservations filled up fast and many people didnt get to go to all of them. Also, check the boards at the front desk reguarly and make sure you go on at leat one scooter tour.
You really get a sense for the people and country side by doing this.
Somethings you just can't experience from a seat in a bus. And I found being located in a secluded area, I saw a lot more of 'non-tourist- Cuba this time round, which enhanced the experience.

In my opinion, the piano bar (above the front desk) is the best bar in the resort. And the music is great.

You should know that you actually arent totally secluded...next door is an italian resort, the Venti Club. And next to that is a Cuban camping ground. Locals would wander down the Breezes portion of the beach, often with many children. Not good if you are looking to avoid kids, as this is a no-kids resort and the staff really didnt care to do anything about it.

Lasly, if you want the famous gorgeous white sand beaches -- go to Varadero. Or at least take the catamaran (Jolly Roger, $75 but I guarantee you its worth every penny) and if you are single and looking for a crazy wild holiday or some romance, ditto. This is definitely a resort geared best to couples. Very secluded and romantic. I had a good time but I dont think I would go back.

ps: the black birds you see swirling the air above the hills everyday are cuban vultures. No worries, they are kinda cool...

We stayed at Breezes Jibacoa for the first two weeks of June 2003. This resort has the best scenary and landscape. The food was prepared exceptional well, with flavour and style. Great selection in the buffet restaurant and the waitresses and waiters are the most friendliest people. La Taverna was our personal favourite with #1 food choice and atmosphere. Martinos restaurant was the best fine dining with exquisite menu without losing the cuban flavour. The beach was very clean, ocean was warm and fun. We never felt more safe relaxed and refreshed! Our room was kept very clean on a daily basis by the room maids. Anything you wanted they helped provide quick and friendly service. The nightly entertainment was fun especially the disco techa! A wide variety of dance, sports and games throughout the day and night. We made several new friends, whom we plan on seeing again and keeping in touch with!
The cuban people at Jibacoa, are now like our family! A special waiter, a couple of waitresses, a couple of chefs, the whole entire entertainment group are now are new found friends and family! Everyone from the service desk to the bars, to the towel service are all apart of our new cuban memories and we will definately be back in the very near future. This resort deserves to be a five star resort and will make sure that everyone we know, will hear about Breezes Jibacoa!
