“No place better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

I travel all over the world for Business. I have never been treated so well, or felt so at home as I did here.
The view is beyond description. So beautiful.
The food was so good that Wolfram could be the head chef in the best restaurants in the world.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate this Home (because that's how they make you feel) a 15.
When going there, remember to go 6.3 kilometers. That's how far you have to travel to get Home.
Enjoy!

A real family-run affair this, with proprietors Wolfram and Nicoline multitasking away and their children often engaged in a game of Mikado in some corner or other. We stayed for a weekend of skiing in late January. The compact but perfect for our intermediate level Koralpe resort is a five minute (steep) drive from the hotel.
The "biohotel" label seems to apply most visibly to the food - locally sourced organic, with trout worthy of a Schubert quintet (albeit simply presented with potatoes only) the highlight of a refreshingly brief menu, Smoking (in a country that is Europe's last bastion of militant fumeurs) is forbidden inside. (Smokers are welcome to step out onto the terrace or balconies, however). Room prices are par for the course and include a decent buffet breakfast to set you up for the slopes or a hike round the nearby mountain trails.
We came as one of two couples, but hope to return with family one summer for hiking and mountain air (the hotel is over 1,000m up, and the views are splendid). Don't be put off by the largely German-language website - the hosts speak excellent English and couldn't be more friendly, helpful and welcoming.

Room Tip: get one at the front for the view

We discovered the hotel on booking.com just by chance. Hotels around Klagenfurt and Graz were full, so we decided to look for something out of the cities to enjoy the mountains, some peace and quiet, and hopefully a great view. The Wolfgruber had these very qualities and far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were spotless and well appointed and the view was stunning. We relaxed out on the lawn for a couple hours enjoying the view, enjoyed the view while eating dinner, and enjoyed the view from our balcony in the morning. We ate both our dinner and breakfast at the hotel and really enjoyed the tasty, natural food. To top it off, the owners, Nicoline and Wolfram, were perfect hosts and their warmth and hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable.
