Thank you Maria for making our stay in Tuscany so wonderfully memorable! Our room was clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. It was so nice of you to have a bottle of wine and a bottle of water waiting for us when we arrived! We are already missing your amazing breakfast buffet and Mary's cappuccino! We highly recommend a stay at Palazzo Malaspina if you are planning those the Chianti region. This lovely B and B is right in the middle of Chianti making a drive to Florence as well as a drive to Siena effortless.

From the very first time we arrived at Palazzo Malaspina in May 2013, Maria's warm and very welcoming smile made us feel right at home. We stayed in lovely Bedroom 1 which had a great bathroom including amenities and ultra thick bath towels, very comfortable bed and balconey with a breathtaking view of the Tuscan hills. Maria and her very sweet assistant Mary serve a delicious, large breakfast with the most wonderful assortment of hand made cakes. She is very willing to provide tips, driving directions or just point out off the map areas of interest to make our stay even more enjoyable. As we were staying here for seven nights, this beautiful hamlet of San Donato proved to be a great base for daily exploring and with two fantastic restaurants just steps away from the front door, the prospect of knowing a delicious dinner was awaiting us just couldn't get any better! Thank you Maria and Mary for helping us make our stay with you a very special and memorable experience.

When we planned our trip to Italy, we knew we didn't want to pack, unpack, and repack every day... so we chose to spend almost our entire trip at Palazzo Malaspina and to day-trip from there. We are THRILLED with this decision and especially with Palazzo Malaspina -- it really did feel like a home away from home. The room was lovely and so clean, comfortable, and charming. It was very, very quiet at night and after the initial jetlag, we were able to get great night's sleeps. The breakfast was as wonderful as everyone on here says. Pay attention to parking sign - we were towed one night! Maria's husband didn't have to help us - it really wasn't his problem, but he jumped right on the phone, figured out the situation, and even drove us over to get the car, all with a great deal of kindness and understanding. We would highly recommend Palazzo Malaspina. One final note - keep in mind that they only accept cash. Maria did mention this in an email, but it escaped me, and it was a bit of a shock and hassle that last day - but again, she did tell me this beforehand, I just didn't pick up on it in the email.

We stayed at Palazzo Malaspina for a week this May and so got a great feel for the Palazzo, Maria and her staff and the location. Firstly the Palazzo itself, it really is a Palazzo! Real history and rooms so tastefully decorated it always felt good coming back after a day's touring around, try saying that when staying in Paris or London. The location is a strong point if you are interested in travelling around the region, which we did. San Donato itself is small, not so many restaurants but easy to get to with plenty of parking but so tidy, we wondered if they sent helpers out at night just to tidy up the streets?

The rooms; we stayed in the smallest room I think but it was very well furnished, really comfortable, quiet, very clean. Next Maria and her staff: I can only echo what I read on this site before making deciding to book here. Maria and Mary were so friendly and welcoming, full of advice and always eager to please. The breakfast was consistently good, plenty of choice of local produce of course the aforementioned cakes from la cucina di Maria to sample.

I summary, I can safely recommend Palazzo Malaspina, it delivered for us on all levels, we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

We enjoyed our stay in this quiet little village. The rooms are very nicely decorated and very clean. Our room had a jacuzzi tub which was great after a day of sightseeing. It is centrally located and close to Other Tuscan locations. We really enjoyed visiting the towns of Rada and Castellini. There are 2 restaurants that I would recommend in San Donato. They are Palazzo Pretoria and el toppa which s right next door. Don't bother with the pizza place right across from this B&B. The breakfast at this B&B was ok. The assistant made crepes and they were very basic (not filled)and overdone, cakes very dry.

Room Tip: We had room 3, very quiet

First, your hosts, Maria and Georgio treat you just like family. We have never felt so welcomed and been so well received as we were here. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, very clean, and extremely comfortable. They serve a huge breakfast each morning, and Maria always has one of her fantastic breakfast cakes ready to be devoured. She makes them the day before and they don't last long because they are sooooooo good.
Mary, our breakfast attendant, is such a sweetie. I wanted to just take her home with us. She would make us our cappuccinos each morning and then make us scrambled eggs if we so desired.
Maria is always ready to help with any destination or meal choices for that day. I can't say enough great things about Maria and her B and B. This is the perfect location to call home base if you wish to explore.
We are so grateful we found this beautiful B and B for our recent trip to Italy.
Thank you Maria, Georgio, and Mary for taking such great care of us and always making us feel special during our stay with you.

My husband and I stayed at Palazzo Malaspina in April 2013 and would highly recommend it. The room we had was beautifully decorated, with a great bathroom and was spotlessly clean. Maria is an excellent host, the breakfasts were delicious, especially Maria's cakes and she also gave us good tips for visiting some of the amazing towns in Tuscany, which are truly beautiful. San Donato is a pretty Tuscan town and a great base for exploring the area.
