All the reviews about Pearl Ngwe Saung have some truth in it. The cleaning ladies start early morning to pick up fallen leaves in the big sand pit with trees. Even the trash outside in your trash bin they only collect when you leave. The rats know this and where there are rats in Myanmar, there are some cobra's too. But don't let it get you down. The beach is awesome and quiet. Sun beds with matrasses are just fifty meters away in the next door upscale resort (that was almost empty). Other hotels with bamboo huts like the almost alwaysfull Hin Tha on the far south are really not much better. It is just Myanmar (try hotels in Loikaw, Kayah state, and this is a real pearl). Be aware however that friday and saturday the yuppies from Yangon kick in. Wow and they are absolutely not friendly, incredibly noisy untill early morning. Probably a sign of what is in store for the Myanmarese in the future. Outside the weekend Pearl is okay and quiet. Staff is not special, but if you ask you get what you want. Rental of bikes is possible from the staff or opposite the hotel. You'll find there also a decent restaurant, since the hotel doesn't know how to make money (no restaurant on the huge site).
But hey what a heaven this could be if the management opens the eyes... Up till then it...All the reviews about Pearl Ngwe Saung have some truth in it. But hey what a heaven this could be if the management opens the eyes... Up till then it is really about the better location (2 km from the small town), the quiet and clean beach. Relax.More
