Interesting old timber frame building with an instantly homely welcoming atmosphere yet an awareness of a different culture with traditional Eastern wall hangings and rugs combined with tables laid with fresh white tablecloths and napkins. Our visit was a special occasion celebrating our son's 24th birthday with him and his sister.
We were welcomed by a lovely gentle voiced lady and invited to sit on comfortable leather settees whilst enjoying a drink and viewing the menu.
We chose the Banquet, a set menu which gave us ample portions for four with a mixture of starters and then mains with extra dishes offered also to try.
We were invited to a nice table by the window and the food was served in good time after ordering though we were the only customers there initially.
The nans were hot, crisp and delicious reminiscent of the taste of yorkshire puddings in a different format!
The fried fish were gorgeous as was the hummus, olives in fact all the starters.
The main courses were delightfully varied, served with beautiful fragrantly spiced basmati rice, extra nan, water on request and it was an exciting adventure for us, trying each one and sharing our views with each other.
We were asked if we had enjoyed our meal by the owner which we certainly had and at the end of the meal we were asked by his wife if we would like another portion of anything. My son requested an extra portion of the fish starter where several pieces were quickly served hot and he demolished them with relish when cool enough to eat!
We felt that we would very much like to visit again and try other dishes and that the restaurant ticked a lot of boxes for a very pleasant and interesting night out.
