Owner description: The Gorge of Serrai di Sottoguda, Temple of Nature, is a picturesque gorge cut into the rock with cliffs over 100 meters. In this gorge you will find various waterfalls. In addition, for 13 times the stream intersects with the bridges. The route is about 2.5 km. The site is located between the village of Sottoguda, wonder of the Dolomites and the Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites. Why shoul I pay for it?In order to have access to the gorge, in the daytime, a contribution from visitors is requested. The aim of this contribution is the enhancement of the site so that it is maintained and improved. The site is managed by the Consortium Marmolada, not-for-profit consortium. This consortium, with clear arrangements with the municipality of Rocca Pietore ensures that 100% of the gain is allocated to the Serrai di Sottoguda and the Municipality of Rocca Pietore with maintenance and improvement works. Each year we proceed with the safety of the walls, with the change and maintenance of fences, are also maintained clean the Serrai and most of the paths of the town of Rocca Pietore and much more. The staff is also local and from Agordino.Being opposed to this it means to be opposed to the maintenance of the site and to its improvement.

“It's a shame!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

One of the most beautiful track in the Dolomities has been ruined by a private cooperative. Infact is no longer free and the access is restricted by a 2.50 euro payment.
It is so sad to see such a natural beauty, Unesco umanity patrol, without a free access.
In historical economical crisis, the Italian Governement asks the people to pay again.

First of all, thank you for your review.

For a few years in order to access the Serrai, during daylight hours and in the summer months, there is a small contribution from visitors. The aim of this contribution is the enhancement of the site so that it is maintained and improved. The site is managed by the Consortium Marmolada, not-for-profit consortium. This consortium, with clear arrangements with the municipality of Rocca Pietore ensures that 100% of the proceeds is allocated to Serrai di Sottoguda and the Municipality of Rocca Pietore with improvements and maintenance works for the good of our Guests. Every year we proceed with the safety of the walls, with the change and maintenance of fences, are also maintained in order Serres and most of the paths of the town of Rocca Pietore, are given grants to other organizations such as the Volunteer of ambulance of Rocca Pietore and much more. Being opposed it means to be opposed to the maintenance, improvement and site visit.

It's a shame when people does not inform themselves before writing. The Serrai, unfortunately, are not UNESCO, but it is the Marmolada.

Thanking you hope to see you again in the Val Pettorina | Dolomites.

“Great for children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

From the parking lot of the cable car to the marmolada, walk down (or drive) to the lower part of the parking lot, there is an entrance to a natural reserve.
Walk downhill and enjoy the walk and place.
It's a canyon with a nice stream running in it.
It takes an hour max to get down and there is a small train up.

“Ice Fall Canyon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Wonderful Natural reserve. This is a 2 km canyon formed by an earthquake and water erosion. In the winter, this water forms large stretches of Ice falls. You can walk thru the canyon or ski down from the Marmolada glacier into the hamlet of Sottogoda. You can watch ice climbers all day. Due to the constant shadows, they do not have to climb only in the early hours. Stop by one of the bars in town and order a bombardino, an eggnog with rum and whipped cream.
