“Peace and pray hidden in the Maures mountains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Le Charteuese is hidden in the mountain, between the woods. it is a place to recharge the spirit to remain in silence. The visit inside the Monastery is very interesting as the video explaining the daily life of the nuns, still living in the Chartereuse. You can buy their production of wood holy sculptures, honey, herbs. The ticket is 6 euro, well spent.

“Amazing setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

La Chartreuse de Verne is hidden away in the Massif des Maures but relatively easy to access from Collobrieres (11 kms) alomg a narrow but well-paved forestry road. The Chartreuse was founded in the 12th century but fell into ruin. There is an interesting photographic exhibition showing the state of disrepair from which has emerged a faithful recent reconstruction. The situation is incredibly peaceful, completely isolated among pine, oak and chestnut trees. The building is still inhabited by nuns and some of their beautiful ceramics are on sale. There is ample parking about a ten minute walk from the entrance. It can be visited year round but opening times vary according to the season.

What a place ! The drive is beautiful and this Chartreuse is such a beauty. The visit takes 30 minutes and it is superb. The renovation has been long but the result is very nice. This is a very nice place to visit, the views are stunning, we really enjoyed it.

“Beautiful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

A peace of paradise one hour from Saint-Tropez. The buildings are beautiful and have been very well renovated. The monks are still producing and selling what they prepare. The place is very restful and we had a fantastic time.

“Unexpected gem amazing location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Driving through the spectacular Massif du Maure is exciting enough with its twists, turns and mountain views, but if you can afford a one hour break, take the 5km road to see this ancient monestary. Even if you are not a religious person ou will enjoy seeing this rennovated site and learning its history form the 12th century. The views to and from the site are gorgeous, but do be aware that the car park is a full half kilometer walk up a gravel road, so if walking distances are an issue you may want to pass.
