“Pleasant Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2010

This quiet, clean hotel was more than enough for us. Simple and roomy, we had a studio apartment, though we stayed on a half board basis. The kitchenette was very well equipt for the self caterers. Enough food in the buffet style restaurant but not a lot of variety. Situated in a quiet part of the island, dont go looking for the nightlife....there is none. Its located in a very residential area and has a couple of local bars. Regular local buses can take you into Los Cristianos and Las Americas. The hotel has a small supermarket and is reasonably priced. Entertainment was laid on everynight ie reptile show, parrot show, fashion show. As we are by nature not late night people, we were never kept awake by noise. An enjoyable holiday.

I have recently returned from a week at Marino Tenerife with my boyfriend and am feeling very relaxed after a welcome break. On arrival I was impressed by the hotel as it had clean and had a modern feel with well kept gardens. The hotel was quite quiet with a small number of people in the restuarant and pool area which was great for us because we hate overcrowded places and there were always more than enough sunbeds to go round.

The view from our balcony was fantastic as we had a beautiful sea view and a view across the pool. The kitchenette in the room was well equipped with everything you need for self catering and the bathroom was clean. The hotel appeared well maintained, the outdoor gardens well kept and the pool area very clean. The majority of staff were extremely friendly and helpful with the exception of the 2 female restuarant staff although there were only working for 2 days during out stay. The entertainment was much better than expected and we actually found ourselves looking forward to the shows and bingo although we are not really into that kind of thing. Sergio and Karen, the entertainment staff, made the entertainment fun and the shows were worth watching and included a fashion show, bird show, tropical animal show, talented dog show, etc.

We went half-board and I was impressed with the food as I have heard horror stories of terrible food and food poisioning at hotels abroad. The breakfast included as much juice and tea/coffee as you wanted and a good selection of cereal, croissants, continental breakfast and hot items including beans, eggs, sausage and bacon was avaliable. The evening meals were also enjoyable with plenty of salad dishes on other and a great choice of meat and fish dishes with rice, pasta and chips avaliable. I did not find the food too repetitive and the bbq night was brilliant with every type of meat imaginable. Drinks are also reasonably priced and bar staff will serve these to your table for you. We did not visit the other bar onsite, Kaygan's Bar, so I could not comment on this.

We did hire a car for a day and travelled into the mountains which I would recommend to everyone and the reception staff planned us a route which was extremely helpful. We also caught the bus into Los Cristionas, which at 2.60euros return each was very reasonable. Los Cristionas has a gorgeous, sandy man-made beach and a lovely seafront with many shops and restuarants and is worth a visit, although men selling 'D&G' watches, sunglasses, etc will pester you unfortunately.

The only bad points I could make are that the room would have been great if it had a proper bed, but we had to set up our beds from a sofa and these would not the most comfortable sleeping arrangments. The rooms did not have air con, only a ceiling fan, which would probably be unbearable during the height of the summer although wasn't a problem in September. Also the area is very quiet with very few restuarants, bars and general activities and a car is very highly recommended, unless a chill out break is what you are after. However, if you are self-catering and plan to eat in then the hotel does have a reasonably priced supermarket on site and the area does have 2 supermarkets within a 5minute walk of the hotel.

Overall we had a wonderful holiday and I would definitely recommend this hotel for a chilled out and relaxing holiday to get away from it all. Would probably be a four star if air conditioning was provided.

Me, my wife and our 7yo son stayed here for 2 weeks in August 2010.
Firstly this Hotel is quite isolated as it is in a mainly residential area but we were aware of this before we travelled the residential area however is not the best (lots of dog mess) - there are a few Cafes, Restaurants and Bars within 10-15min walk as well as an on site Bar which also serves good fresh food called "Kaygans" the Bar is within the hotel but is not ran by the hotel - it is ran by a really nice English couple called Steve and Amy.

The Hotel has good and bad points like most places - the gardens are lovely and the rooms are spacious with a lot of them having 2 balconies but they do need to update the rooms slightly (Kitchen and Bathroom mainly) - there is also a pool bar which is stood redundant for some reason, I was told it used to serve drink and snacks but was closed down a few months ago by the management, the Hotel also advertise an on site club which in reality only opens 2 days per week and on those 2 days the club in taken over by local Spanish people who are not even staying at the hotel which resulted in service levels suffering as there was only 1 barman on duty.

The entertainment team were not the greatest - Karen is more interested in chatting to the Adults than interacting with the children meaning childrens were often left unsupervised in the kids club whilst she chatted around the pool.

We also only saw the Lifeguard on one occasion the whole 2 weeks - not very good as a little girl did almost drown while we were there.

You can easily get out and about if you want - Loro Park is well worth a visit (Killerwhale show was really good) it is about 2hours on the bus though with all the pick ups, AquaLand is Costa Adeje is good and has an excellent dolphin show - better than SeaWorld Florida - we got the bus in los cristianos and paid 6euro in a taxi, there is a place called Monkey Park where you can actually feed and touch some of the Monkeys and Lemurs (Our son loved this one).
There is a bus stop approx 15min walk from the hotel and the bus service in tenerife is excellent, buy a Bono card from a small shop just across from the bus stop - 12euro saves you about 1/3 and also saves you messing about with money on the bus. Las Gallatas is 5mins on the bus - Los Cristianos - 20-30mins and Costa Adeje - 35mins. We prefered Costa Adaje which has a really nice horse shoe bay with plenty of bars and restaurants overlooking this (Watersports also if your looking for them - Banana boat, Jetski's etc).

There are a few things the Hotel could easily sort out and if they did this I would recommend the Hotel to friends - if they could get it for the price we paid.

We have just returned from a lovely weeks holiday at the Marino Tenerife Hotel. For the price we paid(half board) the hotel was excellent value for money.
The appartments are basic and we did ask to be moved from a studio with a put u up to one with proper beds, which we did after one night with no problem. The rooms were clean and serviced daily although the towels could have been changed more frequently.
We could not fault the staff. At the reception they could not have been more helpful giving detailed information about any query we had and even making phone calls for us because we do not speak Spanish. In the restaurant they were always pleasant ,attentive and helpful.
Opting for half board the quality of the food was very good if a little repetitive, more than a week would have been hard to take. The food was fresh and replaced frequently when it ran low and you could have as much as you wanted. Drinks were very reasonably priced.
You do need a car if you want to sight see as the hotel is a little out of the way. A visit to El Teide the volcano is a must.
Although we would not return,as our aim is to visit as many different destinations as possible,we would certainly recommend the hotel to friends.

We came to the Marino expecting a peaceful holiday and that's what we got. I've seen many people being disappointed at lack of things to do but in all honesty we just wanted a pool, a bar and a supermarket!!
Our room was fine although could have done with air conditioning. The balcony overlooked the sea and the pool which was lovely for the evenings. It was cleaned every day with fresh towels every few days. We had a studio apartment which consisted of a bathroom, kitchen and living space with a pull-out sofa bed. Not the most comfortable but you get what you pay for.
Kaygans Bar provided most of our food during our 2 week stay and it was absolutely delicious, with excellent service by Steve and Amy. The food and drinks here are very reasonably priced. We ate in the hotel restaurant once and were quite disappointed. The drinks are extortionate (spirits) and the food wasn't exactly of great quality. The half-board service they provide didn't look good at all, I'm glad we opted out of that one.
There was a lovely restaurant a short walk away from the hotel called Sofias. Lovely food and again, reasonable prices.
Nearby there are some bars which do look run-down but I think the area is just too residential for them. The supermarkets provided everything we needed for daily breakfasts and lunches in the room.
The bus service is very good and very cheap. Around 3 euros for a 2-person one-way ticket to Las Americas, with Los Cristianos along the same route.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.
