“A slice of paradise marred by poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Surfer's Beach Restaurant is located on the south east end of Mahe Island. It is a pretty little place with both undercover and beach seating. The waves are a couple of meters from the tables and there are beautiful palm and coconut trees around. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is a lovely place to take the family. Our kids had fun in the shallow water while we relaxed and enjoyed our cold beers. This is one of the few places on the island that i would bother returning to. Prices are typical for Seychelles, certainly not cheap, but not as bad as most of the other places. Our meal would have been far better if we had all gotten our food at the same time, the kids got their food, i got mine about half an hour later, one of the kids got their's about ten minutes after that and my guest received his food about an hour after the first dish had been served. However, the staff were pleasant and we were not too upset. Overall, a nice place, and one that is worth going to.

Thank you for your review On Surfers Beach Restaurant, we are sorry we have not posted a review earlier but it is better late than never. We are happy that you enjoyed the food and general atmosphere of the restaurant and of our staff.

When we have guests with young children and their order is fairly extensive and varied we try our best to have the food ordered for the children out before the rest as we understand that young children can become upset hungry very fast. As your order for the adults was probably more complex these dishes do take a little longer hence the reason for your food arriving some time after the childrens food. Also our food is prepared from scratch with our mis en place and is not pre cooked or prepared before hand only to be warmed and served when ordered. We beleive in offering good fresh tasting dishes to our customers and we have had very good feedback and reviews on this but this will come inevitably with a waiting time for certain dishes depending on their complexity.

“Best restaurant in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Service is rather quick. Food is fresh and portions are good size. Prices are average. Not worth looking for another place to eat, unless you want higher class and much more expensive cuisine.
The restaurant will fill the belly with basic fish dishes, soups and pizza. Take away is an option for most dishes.
Being on the beach, the setting is very nice.

We are glad that you enjoyed the overall experiance at Surfers Beach Restaurant . Our prices are very reasonable when compared to other eateries in Seychelles and also European restaurants. Our portions are generous and the food is prepared fresh by our kitchen staff like your review suggests. We do not pre prepare cooked dishes or food just to serve to clients when the order is made. When a client orders a dish from the menu it is prepared and cooked fresh hence the slight delay sometimes.

It remains for us to thank you for your positive review and rating on our establishment.

“Bliss by the beach....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We were hungry and thirsty and had been turned down by two restaurants who refused to serve us before 1 pm!
Surfer's Beach Restaurant was a God send.
Great location, you can enjoy the sound of the waves crashing on the beach and the cool sea breeze. Super staff, friendly and efficient and best of all the food is outstanding. We had a fresh pineapple salad and it was a great combination of sweet, salt and sour with crunchy cucumber. The stir fried prawns with vegetables were terrific as were the tuna steak and the crab curry. Good value for money.
Definitely a must visit if you are in area.

Your review says it all and thats the true Surfers Beach restaurant, good service, good food value for money and an oasis in a paradise location out of the blue. We are very happy with your review and comments and it is customers like you that encourage us to improve on our establishment. We hope if you have freinds visiting Mahe that you will have no hesitation in recommending Surfers Beach Restaurant to them to come and enjoy the same hospitality that you experianced.

My very best regards

“Greasy spoon cafe”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We only had one evening meal here in October 2012. It's a cafe style atmosphere with expensive restaurant priced meals. The food quality is poor and reminded me of the worst type greasy spoon cafes. GST at 15% is not included in menu prices but added together with a 10% gratuity. Overall, the food quality and service was poor and did not rate a 10% service charge.

We are sorry and apologise if we did not meet your expectations on the day you came to our restuarant. We are a family run business and like all restaurants on Mahe subject to local regulatory authorities with regards to food and hygene. We have never received or been given any fines or notices from the health and food control departments and we do pride ourselves in maintaining a standard, we find it difficult and unfair when you state we are a " Greasy spoon cafe" when we are actually a fully licenced and approved Restaurant & Bar. You statement does not fit our reputation and standards and it is implies we could be just like any other greasy fish and chip shop anywhere in the UK.

However in light of this we are sorry if we did not meet your expectations on the Day !
