“Just the right size resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

Ideally located by the shore of Port Stephens and close to the town of Nelson Bay. Spent 3 days with friends in well maintained and comfortable ground floor rooms overlooking the sloping lawns. The king bed was just right. The views from rooms over the marina and waterway were great. Quality products were available in the bathroom with the usual tea and coffee making facilities. While the bathroom was very clean, it could benefit from the replacement of the tile grout which is showing sections of mould. There was a good selection for breakfast. To cater for our European visitors I would like to see cheeses and cold meats offerred. Missing was fresh pieces of uncut fruit. The choice of an apple or banana would have been nice. Good value meals were served in the upstairs bar area again looking over the waters. Beware that this is a popular venue for weddings and five took place in the days we were there. If you are travelling in a group it would be prudent to reserve a table. We were unable to eat at the resort restaurant on our first night. At breakfast time we encountered large parties associated with the weddings. For first time visitors do drive to Shoal Bay and Fingal Bay for lovely views and quiet beaches. The walk from the resort to Nelson Bay on the special pathways is highly recommended to get a feel for the uniqueness of the area.

Room Tip: Corner rooms, for example Room 201 are larger with a single and two seater lounge.

What a beautiful location at Corlette Port Stephens, right on the waterfront of a marina this peaceful location can only be described as bliss. Service was very personable and the restaurant offers modern Australian meals in a pleasant setting. Breakfast was excellent. The Manager, Kent was helpful, professional and friendly. I will return.

We had a room overlooking the marina, which had a lovely outlook and was surprisingly quiet, the bed was comfortable and the block out curtains made it easy to sleep. The balcony was a bit small and offered no protection from the rain, but nice to be able to leave the french doors open and enjoy the fresh air. The shower was over the bath which could present a problem if you have limited mobility.
The dining room was pleasant and both dinner and breakfast were nice, it was an Easter weekend and the staff were trying to keep up to demand with a few small things not being replaced without asking (cold water and English breakfast tea) but was a pleasnat dining experience.
There are lots of lovely old photos on the walls, a small area to sit and read and a nice little bar for pre dinner drinks.

Room Tip: There are lots of beautiful beaches to visit, little shopping areas and some boutique and tourist sh...

I stayed at Port Anchorage over the Easter break for two nights. While I agree the location was amazing, we hired bikes and explored the location area, the customer experience leaved a lot to be desired. We arrived and the air conditioning didn't work in our rooms so we had to move rooms at 10pm at night - we didn't even get an apology. Then we spent $140 for two of us to have a three course meal in the restaurant - good food - but when the waitress took away our plates she said I bet you "want to puke"? Now I don't expect that to be a parting comment in an expensive restaurant.

and while the location is amazing the attitude of the staff and

My husband and I booked into this place for a couple of days recently (Mon-Wed March 2013) and were very pleasantly surprised. The resort lived up to its advertising, our room (Anchorage Room) had sea views over the Marina. Beautiful location, easy check in, well equiped room. I have to say the bed was sooo comfortable as were the pillows. Perfect location for a getaway. The hotel restaurant 'Merretts" was fantastic. The service impecable - so friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and would stand up to any top restaurant in Melbourne. Delicious flavours. We would definately go back and stay at this resort.

We spent a long weekend at Peppers Anchorage in January 2013 with our toddler (3 years old). It's great for families with large rooms and its close to a small beach. The property is a little dated though. Service was very good. Note it was Overrun with children when we were there - for those looking for a romantic getaway...make sure you have fish and chips from Bubs in nelson bay marina.

I must admit I was a little worried having read many reviews about Peppers Anchorage. Was I disappointed, no I wasn't I was very pleased. We only stayed the one night on our way from Sydney to Coffs Harbour. Check in was a breeze and the room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view across the Marina. Very peaceful location although a car is a necessity. Breakfast was of good quality and plenty of choice.
