Just got back from an incredible week at Voyage Sorgun and will be highly recommending to anyone who will listen and would be very tempted to return despite not believing in visiting the same holiday destination more than once. The location of the hotel is great only a short walk (30 - 45 mins) into Side but if you don't like to walk there is always bikes available to use in the hotel plus a bus on the doorstep. The town is lovely full of Roman ruins, lots of shops, a small harbour and restaurants & bars if you don't like to be stuck within the hotel. Manavgat is also only a short bike ride or bus ride away too and has the most beautiful river which leads into the sea and a stunning waterfall (access to this is 3.5 euros). I would say avoid the market like the plague which is my idea of hell with identical fake designer stool, fake perfume stool, fake jewellery stool and then all repeated about 200 times over and all under canvas so incredibly hot & stuffy... not my idea of fun but I'm sure it's great for some people! If you do go to the market, avoid the cafes around it, or if you do go in ask them how much things cost beforehand. One awful cafe owner was doing a great job of ripping tourists off and tried to charge 20 TL for a beer and a diet coke - this would be expensive in London let alone a nasty little bar with plastic furniture being hounded by salesmen while you're trying to escape the market. This was our one & only negative of the whole holiday though so don't let it put you off.
The hotel itself is incredible. The forest setting is fantastic with trees coming through apartment blocks and even through some people's balcony's! The rooms are basic but they're kept impeccably clean every day and there's no need to take toiletires as shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/body lotion are all topped up as needed by the cleaners too. The mini bar is also kept fully stocked throughout too.
The food was amazing and booking the a la carte restaurants was so quick and easy, just phone an automated line between 9-12am to book up for that evening and within a couple of minutes the reservation is made. We ate in all 5 of the a la cartes that we wanted to and had no problem getting in any. We went to the Fish, Turkish, Mexican, Greek & Chinese and all were fantastic with wonderful service from the waiters although be warned that the portions are ridiculously big! The Fish, Greek & Turkish all gave us about 20 starters which is crazy amounts, but lovely to get to try lots of different things. We only went to the buffet for breakfasts & lunches and one dinner but again the food and service are really great here too.
The adults only jetty was a huge plus for us. We love being on the beach and the jetty was even better because you get the lovely breeze and the sound of the waves crashing without any annoying sand! Get up early to secure a place on the jetty, towels are down by 7:30ish in this prime sunbathing area. If you are on the jetty or beach, keep your eyes peeled for the giant turtles which come right up to the jetty and on one day was so close to shore we thought it was going to come in land!!
We always ate late and weren't interested in the shows but everyone said these were great. We spent our evenings at the beach club which had really impressive entertainment and parties too.
The branded drinks and ice creams are a real plus point and the cocktails and bar staff were all fantastic.
There are loads of people in the hotel but you'd never know it because there are so many different areas to it that you just never see a lot of people in 1 area.
We went on a bike tour organised by the animation team and this was excellent and takes you to the gorgeous river, so a really great way to see some beautiful views of the area. We also did a boat trip which was a brilliant day out too (aside from the 1 1/2 hours stranded at the market!).
We took Turkish Lire but everyone gives you prices in Euros first so probably better off taking Euros instead.
If you're an animal person like me, you'll LOVE the cats! There's loads of them and they're very well looked after by the staff who feed them which was lovely to see.
Loved everything about this awesome hotel and can't recommend highly enough. I don't even like all inclusive hotels but this one definitely won me over.
