“Wedding/Honeymooners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

We choose this hotel based on other reviews, and that this was the best hotel to make our wedding and honeymoon package the 5 stars that it deserved to be.
Its not a cheap hotel but it was well worth it.
My new husband and i stayed for 2 weeks with our wedding taking place right in the middle of the 2 weeks.
Rooms were very luxurious, but could have done with having a little more space (too much furniture).
Service was first rate, i was sat in the bar just to use their free wi-fi and was asked if i would like a drink our anything whilst i was there. this happened most time that i was sat in the vicinity of one of the many bars.
all-inclusive; food wise there was always a wide selection and different foods each day, unlike other hotels that repeat their food chose everyday/week. Waiters attended the tables to service you with drinks. bar; had a wide range of drinks available on the all-inclusive menu, including Smirnoff vodka, Martini, baileys and many cocktails :). i had never had this much chose at an all-inclusive hotel before.
Pools of which i think were 4 were clean and not cold.
Gym was small but sufficient.
Beach was a little shingley, but very clean and the area outside this hotel was the best part of the beach by far.
Family and friends did not stay at our hotel, because of the cost, but for us this was one of the reasons we booked here, knowing that we would have the hotel to ourselves.

all in all a fabulous wedding, honeymoon and holiday, i can not praise the hotel and staff enough for making our stay so special.

Room Tip: I suggest maybe have one of the newer block if you prefer a more modern style. if not stay in the ol...

We stayed at the hotel in the last week of August when the weather was very hot so we spent most of the day around the pool. The hotel is clean and the grounds are attractive and well kept. The pools are not massive but there is always room in the water although it can be a fight for the sunbeds if you get there after 11am, particularly if you are looking for some shade. It was never a problem for us as we were down before 8 when the world is calm, sunny and not too hot.

The aspect of the holiday that pleased us most was the excellent level of service which must be difficult to maintain towards the end of the summer. There were plenty of waiters at the bars and restaurants and the all-inclusive package was excellent value. The range of drinks in the package was impressive and the standard of food was very good. The thick cotton table cloths and napkins gave the main restaurant a touch of class considering that it was mass catering. As it was a smart place, gentlemen need to wear long trousers in the evening which seemed to surprise some guests. The themed evenings were good, with dinner served in the delightful outdoor BBQ area.

Although the weather was a bit too hot for us Brits, I would definitely recommend the hotel and would like to thank the staff for a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Don't bother to pay for a sea view from your room; a bedroom is for sleeping in but if you want...

We have been visiting this hotel since my daughter was 4 months old - she is now nearly 12 !!! We can only manage to come for one or two nights at a time but we are always treated very well. Yes, the hotel needs some refurbishment but the rooms are clean, the service is excellent, the staff are always helpful and friendly. It is always a pleasure to see the same staff that have been working there for so many years and they make the holiday! Food is good, gardens are lovely, the pools and rooms are cleaned every day, we don't ask for much more. A lovely hotel.

I was very impressed by the standards of food, service and accommodation achieved by this hotel. The all inclusive deal was astonishing value especially the beautifully catered main meals. Clean linen table cloths for every guest and constant attentive service were worthy of a much more exclusive and less obviously family- orientated place. In parts, the hotel has the air of some rather gracious old-fashioned Greek hotels I've stayed in in the past, and not the modern highrise international style that is now more common. However, this is in fact a huge hotel catering for large numbers including very young children, with an army of constantly hard working staff. There are rustic touches to the garden and parts of the interior although the clever layout conceals just how many guests the site can actually accommodate. We had a sea facing bungalow which was set in a Greek village-style part of the hotel away from the main pool and bar area . This could have been quite naff but it wasn't; they have made a serious effort with the genral areas and facilities. The fountains and lawns and mature garden are beautiful and extensive, with the trees and plants botantically labelled and obviously cared for.
I was really pleasantly surprised by this hotel: the desk, waiting and other staff were unfailingly courteous and the whole experience was a good one. All large hotels have meal time bottlenecks, and the buffet style of the main restaurant accentuates this. However, if you are flexible as to when you eat, it is possible to avoid the hoards of the hungry stampeding towards the food! I particularly recommend the beach bar and traditional kafeneion in the grounds.

Room Tip: The Bungalow option is quiet, elegant and attractive and really worth the extra money.

Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds and lots of swimming pools and area's to sit and relax.
Food was lovely and there were so many different dishes, room was a little dated but it was fit for purpose.
The only down side was having to sign for every drink / food - would have preferred to have had a wrist band.
Sometimes we waited a long time in the evening to be served our drinks and the staff were not very friendly in the bar at night whereas the staff at the beach bar were amazing and so friendly.
All in all a very good holiday and the weather was amazing.

We stayed at Rithymna Beach for one week at the end of August. We were given a garden room near one of the smaller pools to the left of the main block. The room was cleaned every day and was comfortable. I found the air conditioning a bit cool at night, only three settings, low medium and high but no temperature control. The bed was very firm. The bathroom was very clean with new towels every day. We did not have a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities mentioned by another reviewer. There was a safe and also a fridge which had plenty of space for our extras. The entire hotel was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The food selection in the main restaurant was very good though drinks were a little expensive. Two beers cost Euros 8.80 and one small glass of red wine Euros 7. The beach area was clean though we werent able to swim as a few days before there had been a storm and the sea did not calm down enough until our last day to allow anyone in the water. Sun beds on the beach are free. The main pool is big and very pleasant, plenty of sun beds and also shade. Waiter service but also expensive, E6 for a medium sized vanilla milkshake which wasnt particularly thick but was tasty. The surrounding resort is pleasant and clean and the shopkeepers all very welcoming and friendly without any pressure sales. Most of the other guests seemed to be Ukranian/Russian or Polish with a few French and British.
Only note of caution, on arriving in Chania, our transfer to the hotel was by minibus and took less than an hour, didnt time it but a direct drive and certainly no more than an hour. However the return trip was in a coach which stopped at many other hotels and resorts, some really difficult because of the size of the roads and other traffic, plus our driver stopped for around 2 or 3 minutes to buy a drink and some takeaway lunch. The result of all this was it took over two hours to get to the airport which if you dont mind the scenic route is fine but I found it quite irritating in a bouncy coach on twisty roads. A taxi sign outside the hotel gave the fare to Chania as 90 Euros and you may prefer to use this. I would have had I known how long the coach was going to take. We were on a Thomas/First Choice holiday and maybe other tour operators are different.
Recommend the 4x4 experience trip across the island by Landrover and the Bay Cruise trip which goes to a very pleasant sandy beach with no waves.
Chania departure lounge is not wonderful. Bought a bread roll which was so hard it was impossible to even tear apart or bite and so ended in the bin. Euros 5.70. A bottle of Gatorade type drink was 4 Euros. There is one smallish duty free shop. No sit down restaurants.

Room Tip: Our room was comfortable, quiet and on the ground floor which was nice but didnt look like any of th...

I have stayed in many 5* hotels but often haven't bothered reviewing them. Not this one!
We stayed (me, my husband and daughters aged 6 and 5) for 8 days at the Rithyman Beach and loved everything about it. The Kri Kri kids club and staff deserve a special mention. I have never seen a more well - run hotel kids club before. The supervisor Mrs Tonia has put in place such a rich programme of fun and informative activities for the kids that mine never wanted to leave! They even put on a play every Friday with the children as actors who have mini rehearsals all week - and they love it!

We had paid for half board which was more than enough. The main restaurant was sumptuous and there was so much food on offer at breakfast and dinner that we adults felt no need for the all inclusive package which I think is not very good value. Children who invariably get very hungry and thirsty throughout the day are what normally throws our budget off course but this time, with the Kri Kri club offering a kiddy buffet all day to all residents' children free of charge, we didn't have that extra cost to think about.

The only thing I feel needs improving is the wifi reception which was dire.
However, we would definitely go back-FAB!
