I went on this walk with my 82 year old mother and really enjoyed it. It was along paved roads for most of it, with some walking on rougher, steeper areas. I think as long as you have reasonable shoes and are mobile anyone can do it. The area is very beautiful with lots of amazing trees, flowers to look at. There is also an large historical element, with it covering areas settled by Byzantines, Venetians, Arabs, Turks and of course various elements of Cretan Greek history. We stopped at a museum which was especially interesting. Just remember to wear a hat, good shoes and carry water.
