“A quality hotel complex making the most of a stunning location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2009

Have just returned today from a week at the refurbished Aquis. We stayed in one of the "bungalow" suites which form a separate part from the main complex but have superb sea views over the bay.
The room was very clean, bright and well equipped with tea/coffee, LCD TV and DVD player.
The bars and public areas were of a superb standard and the furnitiure is obviously very new following the refurbishment. ALL staff were EXCELLENT as was the food both in presentation and choice (some cruise lines could take note!). The staff allround were very polite and courteous.
The Aquis makes the most of the natural hilly terrain and offers outstanding sunset views. We could also watch the swallows (or house martins) doing their flying aerobatics in awe as they circled the hotel.
The only downsides, (one of which the hotel could not, in all fairness, contain), was the bagging of sunbeds by towel throwers who must have been getting up at 0500! and the fact that the lovely beach side bar was not well frequented as it did not form part of the all inclusive package. It was also sometimes difficult to find outside shaded seating away from the fierce midday sun but this is not a criticism - merely an observation.
A very well refurbished hotel which is an absolute credit to the Aquis group - they say you cannot please all the people all the time...... but the Aquis hotel and resort group are doing their best to live up to this high standard......well done.

Not 5 star, but none the less a brilliant holiday, good food, excellent service, fantastic location, and a very relaxing hotel with no children allowed.
Although if you have mobillity problems it would be no good to you, the only way down to the pool is down steps, and to the beach is a long way down also.

We are glad to hear that overall you have enjoyed your visit to Aquis Agios Gordios Beach Hotel.

We are grateful for you taking the time to share you experience and can assure you that we value such feedback in order that we can continually revaluate our product and service standards. We are not a 5* hotel and we never claimed to be one- we've however been given five in many tour operators own ratings and this seems finally to be very confusing for the guest; but we will never stop aiming for five stars service standards. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed not only the fantastic location but also the food and relaxing atmosphere. Also, your compliment about the service of the hotel has been shared with our staff and is very motivating for the team.

We thank you for sharing with other tripadvisor visitors with the very important information of this hotel been inappropriate for people with mobility problems, however we do provide alternative as we do have an accessible Aquis property on the island.

Just returned from 7 glorious days with perfect weather made all the more enjoyable by this wonderful and recently refurbished hotel. Some reviewers suggest that Agios Gordios is not a five star. To be perfectly honest it isn't quite but then nor are the prices you pay. For the money I doubt you could beat it anywhere in the Med (and I've stayed in many far worse so called 5 star hotels). The location I suggest simply could not be bettered at any price.

The rooms were spotless and everything brand new. The view from the balcony (most but perhaps not all) was just the best possible with breath taking views across the bay and out to sea. The sunsets were to die for.

The Food was varied and well cooked with plenty of choice (loads of fruit and a good vegetarian selection - which is always a bonus). The 'free' night in the a la carte was even better (ok the prices IF you paid were stupidly high - but I didn't speak to a single person who did so to be honest the price isn't an issue). Everyone appeared to be All inclusive.

The lobby, pool and bars were all excellent. The drinks were low cost spirits but acceptable. If you went off the All Inc selection then again the prices were far to expensive - but very few people, from what I saw, drank anything other than the AI selection. The beach ' Tunnel' bar should be included in the AI package - it isn't so nobody used it!)

The staff were all very attentive and there when you needed them, the manager especially so.

The entertainment has potential but has some way to go yet before they fully get their act together. Alan for sure is very talented and has a great voice but he needs to let the girls in on his act more than he does - he appears to keep them hidden only giving them brief moments in the spot light (although they do need to work harder to get their dance routines and timing more spot on).

Around the pool the non pushy approach is for me the most acceptable, I much prefer it to Animation Teams who constantly pester you to join in everything. I am sure over the coming weeks Alan and the '3 Gs' (Gorgeous Gordios Girls) will improve - providing the Hotel management give them the opportunity i.e. they don't have a Jazz Duo playing in the Lobby when Alan is trying to do a Cabaret act on the roof...that's never going to work!.

So in conclusion as long as you don't have an issue with steps - because there are a lot everywhere (there are lifts which help) this hotel is highly recommended. It is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the weather, the Greek hospitality and some decent food and wine... My wife and I will for sure return either later this year or next.

The only down side was departing Corfu - the airport is dire and a total embarrassment to Corfu. It really is pathetic, real chaos and they don't have a clue. I simply can't believe that they deem it acceptable to make their visitors (the only real income for the Island), stand in a 'pen' in a field, in the midday heat waiting to be allowed across the road and into the terminal building.

Transfers (by taxi) are 35 Euros each way and take approx 25 mins over the mountain. A visit to Corfu Old town is a must and the bus from the village excellent (make sure you try the cheese pie at the bus terminal - excellent with a cold beer).

Met by friendly efficient reception staff and in our rooms without delay. The bedrooms were comfortable, clean and had stunning views.
Good variety of food on offer. Staff in the various restaurants and bars were very helpful, warm and friendly without being familiar and they were good fun too.
Would recommend the massages and the fitness centre.
The Manager was available all day every day and any requests were dealt with,
within minutes and to our complete satisfaction.
Steps from hotel down to a beach with access to a village nearby.
Would have liked computer access to be more readily available.
Suggest some snacks by the bar ought to be included in the all-inclusive menu.

Are you looking for a hotel that is located on a beautiful bay, without traffic, many flowers around it,and one of the most beautiful sunsets that you have ever seen ?? then this is it hotel Aquis Agios Gordios Hotel.
This all in hotel has everything you want in a hotel ( and for adults only is a great vacation for the parents and grandparents without their sweet kids and without some ones other kids).
The rooms are very nice and newly renovated with everything you need. Flat screen T.V. DVD player, fridge , wi-fi for free through it hotel .
You have 3 Restaurants: The main restaurant Is where all the meals are served (breakfast, which really has everything to start a new day , lunch of which there is petty of , and of course dinner with a lot of different dishes ( something for everyone )
The a al carte restaurant was a jewel . you had a entrée (5 different ones and not only pawns )2 soups (oooo so good) ,two pastas dishes , you could select out of 5 main dishes and of course dessert.
In the bars there was also petty of everything besides wine ,beer, soft drinks, coffee , tea , cocktails, and 5 international spirits whisky, gin, vodka, rum, and tequila.
Entertainment and music you could divide in 3 parts
1)the piano and the Greece entertainment where great.
2)the music in the restaurants and on the pool bar was also very good .
3)the shows where not that good ( but this is my opinion)
When we left it hotel the laying towels on the sun beds was almost completely done , and 99 of the men were wearing long pants(the hotel management had posted cards everywhere to make clear to everyone that that was expected in it hotel)
The manger Mr Mexas is a very friendly person and has a open door office (where do you find a hotel where the door from the manger is open to talk to quest ?)
If go want to walk once ,take a walk along the beach as far as you can go(even to Pelekas) you will come back a different person.
Also go with the bus to Corfu town at least one time.
And hire a car for three days and one do the north west second day the northeast and the last the unknown south.
If you are looking for a top quality hotel in an ideal setting and don’t want any kids running around and I would say book this great hotel

I thought the deal we got was unmissable ( we used dealchecker.com)
The hotel looked clean and fresh.
Service on arrival is very slow.
The business of hotel stars now, I have worked in five star accomodation, I have work in the tourist industry for many years as a chef and rep, this hotel is not a five star hotel.
The location is amazing and the hotel facillities are good, but they do not offer the service of a five star, getting your own water and wine is not five star belive me!
At dinner if you are not careful you will find waitresses clearing away you drinks and table while you get up for more food from the buffet, whch again is not five star stanard.
The food at the buffet is well prepared and caters for a western european palet, but simply isnt greek enough for my taste while on a greek island. The only bad part of the buffet food standards was dessert, always a disapointment, its seems as it was thrown in as a last minute thought.
The al la carte resturant ,its great they give one free night for all inclusive packages ( i was all in) But how they can call this al la carte i dont know, I have eaten al la carte many times and this simply is no where near the mark, 1 all meat and fish on the menu is froozen, the food is simply not good, the food in the buffet is actually to a higher stanard.
If only the hotrel would let you choose a free nmeal in the sushi resturant instead.
The sushi resturant is great.
The pool area and bar is the best part of the hotel, its great for chilling out during the day and for drinks at night easyliy the best part of the hotel. ( be prepaered for usual sun worshipers nicking the sun beds at 7 in the morning)
I adivise anyone to go as long as they only pay three star prices and dont expect wonders from the staff.
Summary three star everything apart from the views and location which are spectacular.
You must walk the donkey trail to the far left side of the beach.

Aquis, Marketing Manager at Aquis Agios Gordios Beach Hotel, responded to this review, June 4, 2009
Thank you for reviewing Aquis Agios Gordios Beach Hotel. We are very glad to be rated by experienced travellers and find our hotel clean, fresh and the location of our property and views spectacular. Please feel free to visit our website (since we are not allowed to post our url here please search our name and you will definitely find it), to check yourself that we are a 4* property but several tour operators have given us five out of their own rating, and although we are very happy about it, we believe that apparently confuses the guest. We would like to apologize for slow check in procedure; we always try to do our best and it seems that we missed something that day. Since you have been working in the tourism industry for so long, we are sure you know all the factors associated with check in and occasions that might cause delays in procedures sometimes.

It is not very clear to me why you had to bring your own water and wine since both are offered on our all inclusive, I assume you mean in your room. We do provide mini fridge on all rooms for guest’s comfort, however we do not advertise mini bar since our all inclusive bars are offering beverages, wine and spirits all day long. We are very proud about the pool area offering comfort and relaxation while enjoy the sun or sunset and this is a major part of what our guests are looking for. The comments you have raised about the food will be certainly looked at and assure you that all issues are thoroughly addressed internally with our F&B Manager. We are constantly monitoring our performance against the high service and standards indicative of Aquis Hotels and Resorts and we will insure these areas are restored to approve upon these concerns for future guests. We have already introduced a ten Euros allowance per person for visitors enjoying Sushi and we believe this will be a motivation as well for those that have never try it before. Frozen meat on the a la carte is only where indicated by an asterisk on the menu and not all meat and fish are frozen, we will work on making this note more explanatory.

We thank you for your detailed review and we will be glad to see you again in any Aquis property.

If you are looking for a restful location in a beautiful part of Corfu, this is for you. Recently refurbished to a very high standard, the hotel is kept in a very clean condition. However, watch out for the showers which have replaced the bath, no curtain or screen so water goes absolutely everywhere! All of the front line staff were excellent, look out especialy for Tonia round the pool bar, great worker and very helpful to all guests. However, managers appear to swan around looking important [with clip board] but doing nothing!
