“Beautiful location, perfect service, huge room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed here for one night recently and wish we could have stayed longer. If it is your first time in the Seychelles, consider spending more time on Praslin and LaDigue than on Mahe, since the former two offer more in terms of scenery, activity, and ambience than the beach-bum tourist-centric Mahe does. And if you can stay on Praslin for a few nights, stay here.

We arrived by rental car (both rental cars and taxis are readily available at the jetty; we arrived by ferry without a car rental reservation and were easily able to procure a car at the jetty). The hotel is easy to find on what is essentially one of two roads on Praslin. Parking is free beyond the puzzling private gate that encloses the resort grounds (are marauders really a problem on Praslin or is this gate simply a gesture to placate jittery tourists?) The hotel grounds are perfectly maintained and the pool is huge and beautiful. The surrounding natural scenery is stunning. Our room was huge and comfortable with a private balcony overlooking the beach. The included buffet breakfast was excellent. The most impressive thing about this resort is the service: the hotel not only arranged dinner reservations and transport to the restaurant for us but went above and very far beyond our expectations in several ways: booking a charter-boat excursion to Curieuse Island at the last moment and finding a way to construct a box to transport a very oddly shaped swordfish-bill sword that we had purchased as a souvenir at the Vallee de Mai (it was a moment of weakness). Though we checked out in the morning, they held our luggage in a day room with a full bathroom until the afternoon so that we could shower after our excursion. Wifi is not available for free in the room (the rooms are collections of cottage-type buildings) but is fast and free in the lobby. We would definitely stay here again.

Domaine de La Reserve is a beautiful resort with everything one needs. The accommodation is very comfortable, the pool area is magnificent and the dining area spectacular - we could watch the fish at mealtimes :-). The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: We had a room right near the water... lovely!

The staff at la Domaine make you feel at home. They are the secret to this resort's success. Welcoming, helpful, making arrangements and answering questions, they do it all. The room we had was spacious and relaxing. The restaurant and entertainment, very enjoyable. The resort's location and beach are excellent. The sunset views are priceless. And all for a very good value. When on Praslin, life is meant to slow down and relax and la Domaine accents this lifestyle. We will return!

My husband and I have have been going to Seychelles for 20 years and La Reserve on Pralin is a hotel that we have previously visited over the years often spending a couple of nights before moving on. However this year in March we decided to spend the bulk of our holiday at La Reserve. We loved every minute of our stay from the fantastic location, accommodation, food, and the professional and friendly staff. It was a delight to be a guest. The accommodation in our deluxe room was excellent with a lovely shower room/bathroom which overlooked the gardens and sea beyond. The bedroom area was well appointed once again overlooking the gardens, surrounding countryside and sea. The restaurant is situated on the jetty and watching the tropical fish swimming below is magical. Colourful parrot fish, baby sharks and the biggest needle fish I have ever seen visited daily - amazing! The hotel was run extremely efficiently with a professional team throughout who have placed La Reserve amongst the best. Thank you for making our holiday perfect. We hope to return.

My husband and I recently spent 10 blissful days at La Reserve.
This was our third time at the resort and we were not disappointed.
It’s under new management and everybody was very helpful, friendly and courteous but so they always were.
The rooms, 4 per house, two upstairs and two downstairs, are beautiful, large and comfortable with a nice big bed. The bathroom is pretty impressive; the shower room is an absolute pleasure. There is also a rather splendid raised bath which we never used so I can’t comment on that. There’s a very spacious covered balcony overlooking the sea with lovely comfortable loungers and plenty of hanging space for wet swimming costumes etc.
The food is quite nice and tasty, nothing spectacular but plenty of it and quite varied. Drinks, wine, beer and cocktails are fairly expensive but so they are pretty much everywhere in the Seychelles.
The sea: we always tend to go in February and I’m told that this is not the best month for crystal clear waters which you don’t really get in February at La Reserve. Perhaps later on in the year it gets better, with less seaweed. The beach is also quite small and the sand is not exactly white and powdery soft. That is why we used to love the free boat excursions (with wonderful Francis!) to various smaller islands for snorkelling and/or swimming that the management used to offer regularly in the past. The snorkelling at La Reserve however is not bad if you go past the rocks on the right hand side (facing the sea).
The swimming pool (one each for adults, babies and children) is large and quite stunning, with a bar in the middle where they serve complimentary afternoon tea, coffee and cake.
You can walk to the shops/banks in about 15/20 minutes along Cot d’Or beach or, if you are patient, you can take a very cheap bus if you want to go further afield.
The grounds are very tidy and well looked after although I would like a bit more colour and pretty flowering shrubs.
We would definitely recommend it and we look forward to going back fairly soon.

It was with heavy hearts that my husband and I left La Reserve on Tuesday after a return visit to enjoy another fantastic 7 night stay. We have nothing but praise for this delightful boutique hotel which has gone from strength to strength under the new owners, Joseph and Sylvie Albert and is very ably managed by the charming Lorna Awale. We congratulate her on her well-deserved promotion. She leads by example and has rallied a highly competent team of dedicated staff members around her. They go out of their way to welcome guests warmly and make their Creole holiday as memorable as possible.

Our check in on 17 Feb was slick and efficient. As South Africans, we booked our holiday through Stephanie at Seyunique in Johannesburg. Creole Travel handled our land arrangements in Praslin and fetched us from Acajou hotel on the pristine Cote D' Or beach after a wonderful week there. In next to no time we were transported round a little peninsula just beyond Paradise Sun, to Anse Petit Cour, which is a beautifully sheltered cove in the marine reserve with possibly some of the best snorkelling in the Seychelles. La Reserve has a perfect position right on the beach and there is excellent, safe swimming and snorkelling from the hotel's little private beach with its dazzling white, powdery soft sand. We saw the best fish around the rocks to the right side of the beach and it was shallow enough to stand and rest if you are not an experienced snorkeler or strong swimmer. We saw others snorkelling round the jetty restaurant and then venturing further out in the bay. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that the sea weed there is not like our seaweed which is thick, slimy and rather smelly. The Seychelles seaweed is more like thick, coarse grass. We extricated ourselves from it quite easily if it drifted in our direction.

We were overjoyed to meet up with a number of the La Reserve staff who had been so kind to us as older guests on our previous visit last year. Their warmth and kindness made my 70th birthday a very special and unforgettable event. The dynamic and vibrant Chantal is still a king pin in the smooth running of La Reserve. Charming Helena is still welcoming guests on arrival and handling all their special requests and is a fountain of helpful information. The ladies in the office were friendly and super efficient and we thank Claudia (from Cape Town!) and Enid for being so helpful at all times. My 86 year old husband was determined to make a come- back as an intrepid snorkeler after his stroke, and they were so kind in fitting him with suitable flippers and a mask and snorkel guaranteed not to leak!

The swimming pool is enormous with most attractive features and adequate shallow parts for kiddies. The wet bar section is perfect for enjoying a refreshing drink while still in your swim suit. A wonderful new perk is the free WiFi areas of the hotel and pool and the afternoon tea, coffee and cake offered to all guests at the pool bar between 4 -5 pm. I purchased a Seychelles sim card and air time for my cell phone at a little supermarket and was able to stay in touch with family back home and WhatsApp worked perfectly too.

We enjoyed a bus trip(from just outside the hotel) into the little village of Cote D'Or where you can buy lunch snacks, cold drinks and souvenirs. Bus rides are inexpensive and pensioners only pay 5 rupees each journey. ( i.e. About R4.20 for South Africans! )It's a great way of sight seeing and we enjoyed travelling with the locals.

The hotel has been refurbished and the rooms at La Reserve are magnificent and very comfortably furnished. There is loads of hanging space, plenty of sturdy hangers, deep drawers, a most efficient hairdryer and a separate bidet in the toilet. The bathroom was beautiful with twin basins and has a huge shower enclosure. The shower was a joy to use and there was always ample hot water. Our rooms were kept beautifully clean, with fresh linen and towels. Toilet soap, shampoo and shower gel was provided. We spent much time relaxing on the large balcony overlooking the beach to the left of the restaurant. We appreciated the comfy deck chair/recliners, wooden table and chairs and the handy drying rack for our swim suits and towels. We made good use of the bar fridge and found the wall safe simple to operate. However, we should mention that we have never missed a single item from any hotel room on three successive visits to Seychelles. Coming from South Africa, it was a joy to feel safe and crime free. It was wonderful to drift off to sleep hearing the waves lapping gently just below us. The peace and tranquillity of Praslin does wonders for one.

One of the best features of this delightful hotel is the jetty restaurant where you can watch beautiful fish swimming round you while you dine. The food was outstanding and we can strongly recommend opting for a half board package. The breakfast fare caters for European, Asian and American tastes and the bakery selection is impressive. The fresh fruit and home made yoghurt was delicious. The evening buffets with themes like Creole or Seafood were amazing and at times there were a dozen desserts to tempt your taste buds. At no time was a menu repeated during our 7 night stay. We particularly appreciated the delicious fresh fish dishes and loved the Creole way of cooking.

What a joy it was to return and find most of the same delightful waitresses ~ Julina, Madeleine, Flavia, Peggy,Mathilda and Petula still going the extra mile to offer friendly and efficient service to their guests and the ever faithful Jean- Francois, as amiable a bar tender as ever. It was great to meet Neige and Ralph who also served us so enthusiastically. Congratulations to the Food and Beverage Manager and his sterling team of chefs and kitchen helpers who surprised us with creative culinary delights every single meal.

You will not be disappointed if you choose to spend time at this amazing hotel. The many positive reviews bear witness to the satisfaction of the guests and the fact that so many of us choose to return to La Reserve bears testimony to this.

As elderly South Africans we have found Praslin to be the perfect holiday destination for us. All the land arrangements are painlessly handled for us by Creole Travel through Seyunique. It's a mere 5 hour flight from Johannesburg and by 10 pm on the same day, you can be tucked up in the Seychelles, soaking up the peace and tranquillity of Praslin ~ away from stressful problems we have had to endure recently, like violent crime, load shedding, strikes, political bickering and the horrific mountain fires in Cape Town. Bon Voyage!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely and have private balconies and excellent views of the sea or immaculate ga...

Dear Guest,

It is with pleasure that we read your grateful review about your enjoyable stay with us at Le Domaine de La Reserve. The content has been passed on to our team and we are all wearing a huge smile. The swimming pool is amongst the top 3 largest in the Seychelles and hugely enjoyed by guests. It has a dedicated kids area which makes it the safest on the island for children. And the rock features and cascades just blends it in the surrounding nature for a picturesque holiday.

Glad you had fun with us and we hope to see you again soon.

Yours Sincerely,

La Reserve is a wonderful hotel to stay. We booked half board: breakfast (with a delicious selection of fresh fruit, homemade yoghurt, eggs to your liking etc. etc.) and dinner are served in the restaurant on the pier. We stayed in one of the colonial rooms with mighty view over the ocean. Large room with balcony which have private sunbeds, well equiped bathroom with shower, separate toilet and ample space for your luggage. Le domaine is well kept, has a private beach and canoes to use free of charge. The most beautiful swimmingpool with inpool restaurant/bar is main attraction and worth mentioning. Every afternoon the complementory tea is being served at the pool. We were sad to leave after two days. Next time (hopefully) we can stay here longer.
