“fabulous stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

The hotel is situated in the middle of the island ,5 minutes walk from the most beautiful ,in my opinion, beach Coco D'Or and a bus station just outside the hotel for almost all the other famous beaches. The rooms are enormous and very clean. The swimming pool is fabulous and convenient when you return from the beaches as the beach in front of the hotel is not good for swimming. We had half board and we were quite satisfied;some days there was buffet, mediocre I think, but the days with fix menu was excellent.Breakfast could be better, but as a whole the experience was very pleasant.

Room Tip: All the rooms at the maisonnettes.

We stayed at La Reserve for 3 nights over Christmas as a family. . Although we in fact live in Seychelles , on Mahe, we were in need of some rest. It was a perfect place to spend time as a family. Friendly staff, great food and comfortable rooms. What more can you ask for!

My wife and I stayed here after a week at the 5 star Constance Ephelia on Mahe. Although we 'dropped' a star when choosing this hotel, the reviews persuaded us. I could not have been happier with La Reserve. The room, food, atmosphere, location were perfect. Service is genuine, and all staff are happy to chat and offer advice for sightseeing. At Ephelia, we sometimes got the impression that the friendliness and service was because staff were paid to be nice to guests; however, at La Reserve there is a genuine warmth from all the staff. Food was fantastic, and the service in the restaurant was far, far better than at Constance Ephelia. The beach at Cote d'Or is fabulous, and only a gentle 10 minute stroll away. Anse Lazio is a short bus ride away - although the wait for the bus may not be so short!

If you are looking for a hotel with charm, character, brilliant value for money, genuinely nice staff, great location, wonderful food (the jetty restaurant is amazing), and a place to just relax for a week or two - I can highly recommend La Reserve.

We stayed at Constance Ephelia for a week, and La Reserve for a week. In answer to the questions "Would you come back here?"; and "Would you recommend this hotel?" then for Ephelia I would answer "maybe", and "probably". For La Reserve I would answer "Definitely" and "Absolutely".

Stayed with our 3 boys. The pool is amazing and the location for snorkling superb. We saw a ray 3 ft off the beach. The staff could not be better in terms of friendly service. We would definitely recommend this hotel as one of the best we have stayed at.

We stayed in this hotel for over a week in June 2011 and it was the most relaxing and wonderful experience. Of all the hotels I visited in the Seychelles (there were many) - this hotel deserves a 5* for service and hospitality. It was by far the most friendliest and welcoming hotel I have ever stayed in. From check in all the way through dinner, we were greeted with a smile and and by many on a first name basis. This hotel offers a tranquil relaxed atmosphere and I would highly recommend it for couples who are in need of quiet time. The sunsets are amazing! Plenty of activities for those who want more than to sit by the pool. If you intend on visiting Praslin for a few days definitely choose this hotel. You must visit La Digue and Mahe also!!!

We are glad we chose this hotel for our 10-day visit to Praslin. We travelled with our three-year old daughter and we were treated very well by all the staff at La Reserve from day one. The rooms, pools, restaurant/bars and beach are outstanding. Food was one of the best I have ever had in hotels of this category. But above all that, we were very impressed on how well we were treated by the all the staff with no exception and in particular how well they greeted my little daughter. The hotel is located in a very nice part of Praslin on a nice beach and less than 10 minute walk to Anse Volbert, which is a much larger beach with restaurants and shops.

We were at one of the deluxe rooms and this was very nice and spacious, at metres from the beach. One can do snorkel on the beach and also paddle the kayak provided by the hotel. There is also a wild beach that can be accessed from the hotel. The view of the sea from the hotel, and in particular from the restaurant is amazing, with bright shades of green and blue and plenty of fish swimming below. For scuba diving, there are two diving operators close to the hotel. I went for one dive with Octopus diving (a PADI representative) to St Pierre, a small island just in front of the beach. They also organise trips to other locations further out.

The hotel is very good at keeping people entertained with live music, dancing and excursions. The hotel organised a trip to Curieuse island (not far from the hotel) for us, with a small boat picking us up at the hotel beach. I highly recommend a trip to Curieuse as the turtles, the mangroves and the beaches there are amazing. We also hired a car (through the hotel) and visited Valle de Mai, Anse Lazio and made a trip round the island. We also did a one-day excursion to La Digue (not to be missed).

Food at La Reserve was amazing. We opted for half board and we were not disapointed. The buffets were excellent, with different themes (international, creole, asian) and high quality food. Don't miss the red snapper (it is a popular option so don't leave it for too late!). They also serve more than ten varieties of desserts. One will definitely return with some extra kilos after spending some days at La Reserve. Breakfast (also buffet-style) is also very good.

In summary, we were delighted to have chosen La Reserve for our first trip to Seychelles.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the beach bar are more quiet and closer to the best stretch of beach at the hotel.

My husband and I just returned from our trip to Seychelles and we spent 5 nights at La Reserve Hotel. Before we went, I looked at many options but after reading all the positive reviews about La Reserve, I figured I couldn't go wrong. I'm glad we chose this hotel. The reservation process was smooth and they offered us a good deal. The staff was helpful in answering any questions we had prior to our arrival. We had a deluxe sea-view room with half-board.

The facility is nicely laid out and our room was on the more private side of the property. When we were first shown our room, I wasn't even aware that there was more units on the other side of the Jetty restaurant. It is quiet and you don't realize how many people are there until you go eat breakfast or dinner. The hotel provides free access to snorkeling and kayaking equipement and we spent a lot of time in the water. There are many fish near the hotel so it made for good snorkeling. Times when we weren't in the water or on an excursion, we spent plenty of time on our balconies on our loungers. It was so peaceful to just sit and listen to the waves.

The hotel had an activity schedule that had good options if you wanted to get out of the hotel. We took the tour of Valley de Mai and went to Anse Lazio beach which was simply amazing. Dinner and breakfast are good and a good value if you choose the half-board package. The staff was friendly and it was nice that they knew us by name (and room no.). While the room had an outdated TV and there wasn't wifi, with the amazing views, there's no reason to stay in your room. While there was no wifi available due to a nationwide issue with the broadband, they offered complimentary use of the internet in their business center which satisfied our needs.

We are already looking forward to our next visit. Hopefully the next time we will be able to stay longer and take advantage of more of the excursions available.

Room Tip: Select a deluxe room with sea view that is to the left of the restaurant.
