“Not worth the time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

Dinner at La Pirogue was the one downside on our recent honeymoon to the Seychelles. The food was okay, but the staff were really rude and not helpful. First, we were told we really should have a reservation even though 75% of the restaurant was empty. Then, when we ordered a bottle of white wine we were brought a bottle of red. The waitresses response was "that's what you ordered". My wife opened the wine list pointed directly to the wine she pointed out the the waitress (a white) and said "that's what I ordered.". The waitress walked off without any apology or commentary. The food was average at best. The tuna tartar looked like it had been sitting out in the sun for a few hours before being served.

While this meal was considerably cheaper than our resort, I will choose anywhere that treats you like they want you there over a restaurant like this. Don't waste your time.

“Great restaurant popular with tourists and locals alike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

La Pirogue is located on the main road in Anse Volbert across the street from the beach. We happened to be there on a night when a group of locals were celebrating a 70th birthday. The restaurant had a festive air and a nice mix of locals and tourists. We had the crab, which was the special, and the catch of the day. Both were generous servings and well prepared. The wine list was decent, if not spectacular, and the prices were somewhat expensive, but reasonable for the Seychelles.

“Great quality food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

We had lunch and dinner here and each time the food was great. As almost all we took fish based options. Last time I ate such fish was ~6 years ago on Philippines. They must have been fresh out of water. Even the lunch sandwich with fish made us think: how can a sandwich be so tasty :) The place is next to a great beach. Tables, cutlery etc. all high standard. Also the service is good but....very sad. Being a student I used to work in the summer in some restaurants: rule 1, be open and smile. Here there was little of it, altough we tried our best.

“One of the worst”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

So we thought we'd have lunch away from the resort for a change and found this restaurant on the main drag. It looks very nice from the outside although it was empty (mmm should have taken that as a warning). I ordered the 'Home-made beef burger' which arrived a few minutes later. On inpection I knew straight away the patty was not 'home-made' but factory produced. When biting into it the consistency was like jelly (ugh!) - one of the worst of my life! The food was double the price of the resort restaurant and was really poor. Avoid!

“Pirogue Restaurant full reviev.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

Our first day on Praslin island strated relly very good.
We have checked in our Villa - Hotel Villas D' Or. After a walk by the Anse Volbert beach and throught the village Cote D'Or area we took a short nap. About 6 o'clock we woke up and felt really hungry . We decided to go someplace nice . Our hotel menager Pierre recomended us restaurant pirogue Which was suposed to have free wi-fi and also they can transfer you for free. Restaurant is located by the main street going through the Cote D'or area, about 50 meters from the beach . Whole restaurant is an open patio.Waitersses are only Creole . Tables were really nice designed . The menu is also very vast . I'm attaching most of it in the pictures . We have ordered 2x mango juice , my fiancee ordered Creoles mixed mango Salad , and I have took tuna steak with a garlick sauce and french fries . It was delicious . We have paid 33 euro . And it was let's say very resonable price. The staff is very kindy and polite . After our supper we went to see the high tide and asked their driver to pick us up by the hotel . He was so polite that he took us to the last open shop ,,o the corner '' (begining of cote D'or ) we have bought few things and came back to our villa.
with pleasure I can recommend that place for everyone who want to try very tasty meal.
