If you are not a "resort person" this accomodation is for you! The guesthouse is right on one of the most beautiful beaches of Praslin, on Cote d'Or. You just walk out from your room, take a few steps in the sand and get to the white sandy beach with a picturesque view to the nearby small islets. You can swim, walk or just lay in the sun on the gueshouse's sun chairs.
We have traveled around the island and had to admit that its location is one of the best. It is right next door to shops, restaurants, ATMs whatever you would need in Anse Volbert.
The rooms may seem a bit out of date, but really cozy. We chose the front floor room with a view to the garden, partially to the ocean but also to the new appartment building which is planned to open next month. In the new buliding you will get a full sea view, though at a higher price. Still it would worth it, since the location of Rosemary's is outstanding. Obviously you could go the neighbouring hotels for twice or rather triple the price to get the service and hotel feeling, but we indeed enjoyed the family atmosphere of Rosemary's. I think value for the money, is the best in Praslin!
You can enjoy the delicious breakfast in a beach hut with views to the ocean. They serve you tropical fruits, toasts with local jams and butter, accompanied by tea, coffee and juice. Really tasty and though it can be boring, they vary the choice of fruits daily, so you can always try another interesting taste in your mouth.
Rosemary's son Herbert is a very helpful and friendly host. He can arrange you car rental, cheap taxi and excursions.
Milka, the baby dog is the cutest animal around, she will approach you every day if you are kind to her, just like her mother who live in/around the property. If you don't like dogs, they stay away, so don't be afraid!
The negative point is the mosquitos. Though Herbert offered us insect repelllent and other stuff that helped, since there is no aircon in the room (indeed it is not needed for a good sleep temperature - fan and the sea wind helps a lot), you would need to keep the windows slightly open, thus bites are quite often.
All in all we had a great stay at the guesthouse. Unless you are for resort hotel feeling, you won't go wrong with Rosemary's!
