My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in April 2009 and were pleased with the accommodation. We were looking for a cheaper, no frills type option (self-catering) so we could actually afford to come to the Seychelles. Avoiding the higher price hotels proves to be difficult and this place jumped out at us on our online search for places to stay. To get the hotel it is about a 10 minute journey from the boat dock (if you took a plane to Praslin, you probably could afford to stay at a nicer hotel, but the journey would be longer to the hotel, probably like 20 minutes).
On arrival we were greeted by our host, filled out guest info cards and were given a tour of our room. The room you enter from the side and walk into the kitchen/eating area. The bedroom is right off of it, with a huge bathroom off the bedroom. Off the kitchen area there is a patio/porch with tables and chairs. (there is a wall separating you from your neighbors, but not the street). You can in fact see the ocean from this deck area. However - it is across the street. You are not on the beach. Let me repeat you are not on the beach. But this is not a big deal as it is about 10 quick steps to the beach (anse volbert). On arrival they had placed flowers everywhere in our room. Which was beautiful. However all the flowers had ants in them or were attracting them. So we quickly scooped them all up and tossed them outside (which I don't think that our host appreciated). But we didn't appreciate the ants. Yes there are ants everywhere. As long as you don't leave food out and be careful not to have any crumbs it really isn't too much of a bother. (leaving dishes in the sink unwashed will bring ants so you really have to stay on top of them).
The place does not have air conditioning nor is it an option, as there aren't any. They do have ceilings fans which we left on all the time. It was very hot at night as it doesn't cool down at all. But we made it through and saved the money by not have AC. The kitchen is stocked okay and there is a big fridge to stock up at things at the local stores.
The bad thing about this place is its location. Well it is right across from the beach so you wouldn't think that it is bad BUT It is right on the corner of the only two streets in "town". And the bus stops right outside. All of the locals take the bus so they are constantly standing out front waiting for the bus. They don't bother you, but you are looking at locals commuting all day long pretty much. Also it is rather loud at night, cause there are no windows to actually close (also brings in bugs at night) cause you hear the traffic and the street noise.
But the place is clean, the staff is friendly, they have a security guard at night, and is right across from the beach. There are worse places you could stay. But it was great for the money. Especially when you walk down the beach and learn that these hotel guests are paying 400-1000 USD a night, when this place is only about $120 USD a night.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is trying to see the Seychelles and not pay a fortune. It is safe and clean. But a little loud and no AC. Hope this helps.
