This is my second review this year for Myrtia. First one didn't get through. Hope this one does.
What can we say about our holiday this year apart from it was the best one ever. This was our 3rd year at Myrtia and the holidays just get better and better. We were there from 14th - 28th Aug. We met up with a lot of friends that we had met before in years previous, these friends made our holiday for us. This sums up the Myrtia. People go back year after year because it is so lovely. We have already booked for next year so we don't miss out!!!!
As well as the Myrtia being a wonderful little, quiet hotel set in a rural setting it would not be what it is if it were not for the staff. V and Charlie are the best hosts and excel at making your stay the best it can be. We have definitely made great friends in them both. Along with them is Bibi, Olly and Dinos who also help to make the holiday wonderful. All the staff are welcoming and help to make your stay enjoyable.
The entertainment this year was still wonderful and hilarious. Their were Greek nights, movie nights, pool games and football matches. It was great to take part in all these, especially the singing and dancing!!! It was great to drive Chitty Chitty Bang Bang once more!!!!!!!!!!!
Skiathos is probably the nicest Greek Island we have ever been to. The town centre is typical Greek whether you enjoy it in the night or the day. We hired a boat for a day with some very dear friends and were able to stop at some very memorable places. The boat was captained by Captain Angelo whose boat the Rainbow is docked on the harbour. (His is the one with the green strip lights up the mast). He is well worth a visit and his price is very reasonable. He even organised a birthday cake for our son's girlfriends birthday. The same was done by V and Charlie at the Myrtia. So she had two surprises. This was something that she will never forget!
Skiathos is a beautiful island but it is made all the more unique by the little gem that is the Myrtia.
Staff are wonderful, long friendships are made, people return year after year. This is what makes a holiday.
The Myrtia and its staff and the friends we have made have a place in our hearts. We hope to see you all in 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

We are a family of 5, so finding somewhere good with 2 bedrooms is always a challenge. We had heard good things about Myrtia, read the Trip Advisor reviews and they have an apartment (room 231) which accommodates 5. We weren't disappointed!!

We stayed for the last 2 weeks of August and that included by daughter's 13th Birthday, which we mentioned to the staff on the day before. Her birthday was on the Sunday which is also the BBQ night and we thought they may have forgotten, but no, V and Charlie had a cake ready, got Eleyna up in front of everybody and sang happy birthday. She was thoroughly embarrassed but loved it really!!

As others have said the food is great and we 'ate in' on 4 or 5 evenings. Really recommend the warm mixed starter, which is always a bit different every time. We also only discovered the chef's pizza on the last night and it was by far the best one the children had anywhere during the stay.

Our 4 year old boys loved the small pool, just the right size and depth for them as they are learning to swim and we could leave them playing whilst watching from the sunbeds.

As for Skiathos the island, we loved it. Been to many Greek islands and this ranks as one of our all time favourites. The location is great to explore up and down the coast using the bus service. We tried a few beaches but our favourite by far was Troulos (bus stop 20). A little bit quieter and nice tavernas for lunch and toilets (very important with little ones). Skiathos town has a lot to offer, especially liked the maize of back streets and the old port. If you like boat trips, we'd recommend the Mama Mia themed visit round Skopelos (if you don't mind the music). Beautiful scenery and the waters are crystal clear. We'd like to spend more time on Skopelos next time as you only get a couple of hours maximum on the beaches on this trip.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we took the unusual step for us of booking to go back again next year almost as soon as we got back. There is so much more to explore in Skiathos that another 2 weeks there is needed. Only 46 weeks to wait!!

To all the guys there, thank you so much for making our holiday so memorable and as Arnie would say 'we"ll be back'.....

This hotel is down a nice forest track and the setting is fantastic. The rooms are basic but very clean and comfortable beds and great air con units. The staff are what make this holiday great as they put in a lot of effort to talk to you and make you welcome. The sunbeds are taken early so you need to be up if you want one. The hotel is very popular and was full of returning guests. Locally there are a few restaurants on the main road and most served great food. A must do is to see Mamma Mia in the open air cinema in town, have a few wines and dance along to the songs...good laugh. All in all a very good holiday.

Great holiday in Skiathos Mrytia Summer Village is set out very nicely, our room 343 shaded by trees, a welcome after a long hot day having fun. V & Charlie who run the bar and restaurant are fantastic hosts, along with all the other bar staff and not forgetting the lovely Bi Bi of course. There snack bar is very good and the restaurant food excellent. We try other Tavernas but always came back to V & Charlie. Very friendly atmosphere nothing too much trouble. They made our holiday perfect simply the best will return. If you want a good day trip do the beach boat and beyond trip fab.

Room Tip: room 343 quiet shaded location

Myrtia Holiday Village is the ideal spot for a perfect family holiday. We stayed at the Myrtia for two weeks in May/June this year and the holiday exceeded all expectations, despite us having read all the positive reviews beforehand. The accommodation is spotless, the location beautiful, the pool is big and the food served at the onsite taverna is delicious. However, the icing on the cake is the people who run the place - what a great bunch! Not ‘in your face‘, but can’t do enough for you and they were just fantastic with the children, who all loved them. Downsides......just the sad faces when we had to leave.

What can I say? A beautiful place, lovely gardens and pool, excellent pool bar, stunning location...the staff are amazing and so is the food!!! Nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff, they love children and all have a brilliant sense of humour. The chef's food is gorgeous and whether it is a lunchtime or evening menu, everything is delicious!!! This is a real gem of a place, surrounded by a pine forest which means some shade when it hits 38 degrees!!! Rooms are basic - remember this is Greek self catering (!) but bins are emptied daily and the beds made regularly.
There is a supermarket close by, also a bus stop (buses really easy to use). Beach is the gorgeous Koukounaires beach (can be busy but aim to get there early) reached either along a road or cutting through a lovely bit of forest. Another lovely beach is the Banana beach - walk or take the bus - be warned, last bit is uphill on a dirt track (no buses can get up there) but it is well worth it, smaller and quieter. Chillout bar above the beach, also lots of bean bags to watch the amazing sunsets.
Tip - not quite so commercial so you get proper Greek meals in the local restaurants. No service charges, either (hooray!!) Can recommend the Big Bad Wolf, Captain Michalis and the Spyrios (?Sorry, can't remember the name exactly!!)

We were a family of 2 adults and two children aged 8 and 11 and they loved it - the pool gets busy but no problem with sunbeds and everyone is very friendly and you can relax and have a beer!! We went 23 - 30 August and it was hot and lovely - tip, this is a slightly more old fashioned part of Greece, so a few words of Greek are much appreciated!!

I cannot recommend the Myrtia enough - go!!

First of all, we would like to thank all the staff for such a wonderful holiday, especially since it was my first time holidaying at Myrtia (and Joshua's third time)! Vlatko, Cvetan, Bibi, Oli, and Dinos created a fantastic experience for all involved, whether young or old. The chef cooked some amazing food that always filled you up, with a large variety to choose from for all ages, including Greek classics and some other food closer to home. All forms of entertainment were really enjoyable.
Greek night offered a beautiful 'all you can' eat buffet and barbecue. It also offered a view into some of the surrounding island's dances, (including Skiathos) by professional Greek dancers and afterwards, a few disco classics for all to dance to.
Film nights were also exciting evenings for all too! With films varying from Mamma Mia and Grease to Ice Age and Madagascar. For people looking for a little exercise or just some fun, there are football and pool games organised on a regular basis.
The accommodation was superb, classic Greek decoration, comfortable beds, cosy environment and a small kitchen for those who will be cooking. The maids also kept the rooms nice and tidy, with fresh sheets and towels as often as possible. The location of Myrtia is excellent, set back from the main road down a winding dust track where the Greek wildlife can be heard. Make sure you take a torch at night as it gets quite dark.
There are two supermarkets and a few restaurants along the road outside of Myrtia and a bus stop around 100 metres from the dust track where the bus can be ridden to a number of stops on the coast of the island, the last one being Skiathos town, but as I have said the restaurant at Myrtia is the best.
To conclude, wonderful staff, wonderful setting, wonderful food, altogether a wonderful place for a wonderful holiday.
Lots of love Alex (lover girl) and Josh (lover boy).
