“We all see what we want to see.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

Having just returned from Boudouriani I cannot help but agree with all of the reviews of how welcoming and extremely friendly the people who run it are. We booked basing on other peoples reviews and were left a little disapponted. Although very basic and to be expected on most of the Greek Islands, I do not expect drawers to be broken wardrobes that wont shut and having to get up in the early hours to put the bed back together. Several guests complained that their rooms had not been cleaned for four days and indeed on our last but one day I saw the couple who look after the cleaning side arrive with all our clean sheets and towells and said I would leave the door open for them, the Rep. arrived to post the Flight Time card for the following day and the cleaners obviously thought better of the idea of cleaning and changed nothing. I do agree with a previous reviewer who stated that maybe we look through rose tinted glasses. Yes the Island is lovely, yes the people who run the apartments are faultless in their manner but the apartments are scruffy and in dire need of updating. Yes we all see things diferently but I will not be re-booking. Oh and by the way, the pool turned all our costumes 'yellow'

We stayed here in June just gone. It was me, my husband and our daughter who is nearly 3.
The property is a lovely family run property. Typically greek in furnishings, which means yes it is simple but its clean and very pretty.
The family that run this are lovely and its what keeps us returning to Greece every time we go away. They love kids and cannot do enough for you.
We got married in the town whilst we were there so Skiathos to us is the perfect place to be on holiday.
We don't like 5* hotels are they are impersonally and not very Greek. To experience the best of the Greek way you need to stay in a place that has a Greek family there to run it as it show just how lovely and hard working they are.

We returned from Boudouriani yesterday, and just thinking about saying our goodbyes yesterday still brings a tear to my eye.
This is the friendliest, most welcoming, hard working family I have ever met. We are regulars to Greece and love the Greek people, but this family put the friendliest of Greeks to shame. During our 2 week stay Christos and Sophia (mom and dad) were away on the mainland for the majority, so Ilias and Paris (Son and Daughter) ran things between them. They do not ever stop working and trying to please everyone, and they appear to get great pleasure from it too. In fact Ilias quite often told me off for leaving a tip! and looked genuinely embarassed by it. I would sit at the bar waiting for my wife to finish getting ready for a night out and just chat about anything to Ilias, he was like my best holiday buddy, I think he bought me as many drinks as I bought for myself, thats just a sample of the generosity of this whole family.
Paris' yoghurt fruit and nuts on a morning was the perfect start to the day, served with a smile and tasted delicious. Her Greek pizza was a great midday snack/feast too. Ilias would soon be back behind the bar helping his sister, he'd had his 2 hours sleep for the night woke just in time to get his gorgeous daughter Sophia to nursery and would then work through till the early hours. I often asked when he actually slept and he just smiled and shrugged. They were both quite often doing 3 things at once, whilst still smiling. When Christos and Sophia returned they were also lovely people, and Sophia started gardening pretty much as soon as she returned, before serving breakfast the next morning.
The setting is beautiful, and I could not agree less with a previous review saying that the accomodation was reviewed through rose tinted glasses. If I want all the mod cons and perfect clean lines, I'll book a 5 star hotel somewhere like Benidorm, if you want a taste of Greece stay here.
The beauty of Skiathos is how unspoiled it is, its simplicity is its main attraction. There are no water pipes outside of Skiathos town, every property lifts its own water from its own well, whilst still providing plenty of clean water for every apartment. I find that charming. This place is not outdated at all! It is in perfect keeping with traditional Greece. Even a pool area with nice comfortable modern sun loungers some how gives you real feel of Greek authenticity, in the very green surroundings with greenary growing up the buildings too.
The beach is less than a gentle 5 minute stroll away, with a selection of Taverners in easy walking distance, or bus stop no more than 200 yards away to take you the length of the south coast from aprox 0630 - 0130 7 days a week, but we always ended the night with a bit of banter and one of Ilias' special Mojitos before going to bed.
I cannot recommend this place enough, but please don't book yet, wait until we have our booking sorted for next year please.

Room Tip: All rooms have a pool view

Stayed from 13th to 27th July. 2nd time to skiathos and boudouriani and wouldn't stay anywhere else in skiathos. Definitely like a 2nd home and the family are very welcoming. The food was as excellent as ever provided by Sophia and Paris and if its not on the menu just ask - if they have the ingredients they will make. The Greek evenings are excellent value with good food, good company and dancing whereby everyone is invited to participate. Ilias was the perfect host in the evening staying up very late most nights and providing us with some very tasty cocktails. As it is only a small complex it was much easier to meet and become friends with the other guests, many of whom are returning from previous years. Again the only downside was having to leave and its definitely harder 2nd time round but we will be back.

We've just returned from our second visit to Boudouriani House and as always we were looked after very well by Christos, Sophia, Illias & Paris, nothing is too much trouble we we're fed and watered very well indeed !!!
Troulos is a great place with lots of good tavernas, our favourite is still Ratatouille you get good food, very generous portion sizes and it's not over priced.
We stayed in room 18 which is directly facing the bar and pool area all the rooms are cleaned daily with clean bedding and towels every few days.
We've christened Illias 'Mojito Man' as he makes the best Mojito I've ever tasted, the bar is great and even though our room was facing the bar we were never disturbed by any noise at night. There is a BBQ every Monday night with greek dancing which is great fun and Olga makes sure everyone joins in !!!
The bar serves very good food all day, breakfast, snacks, lunch etc up until 9.30pm every night which we found great we ate there a few times and the food was excellent.
Great time all round !!!!

The previous review is a little unfair! We just returned from Boudouriani and also stayed in room 19, yes its very basic but how long do you stay in your room? it was clean and well maintained during our stay. The family are lovely and certainly made us feel very welcome, the BBQ on Monday night was great fun, brilliant value for money!! Troulos is a fab place, its our favourite, lots of nice taverna's to eat in and the beautiful beach is only a 10 min walk.We had a fab time this was our 4th visit to Skiathos, missing the place so much can't wait to get back
Thanks, Ilias for the cigar, and hope you haven't lost the lighter!! See you next year!!!!
