“Fantastic place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We have just returned for our family holiday to alykanas beach in Zante, there were 16 of us that went with ages ranging from 5-81 years and it was fab. Rooms were fine( your average Greek rooms) we had a problem with the toilet but it was fixed the same day. We spent most days round the pool/beach and the service was excellent, especially a girl called meg she know how to take a joke and we had a good laugh. Also Nikos was the bar man for the night shift and he really made the holiday he never stopped with the shots lol it was so good. The only down side was that we had a bad flight time home so we had to check out at 11am on the Sunday but didn't get pick up for the airport till 4am on Monday and when we asked to keep our rooms on we were told they didn't have one spare but lucky enough we managed to get one from down the road for 20 euros. But the holiday over all was great and the weather was so hot we had a heat wave and it reached 36 degrees. Can't wait to go back:-)

What a place. We have been to Zakynthos twice before (Husband, Wife 2 kids 13 & 10) both times staying in Kalamki, but decided this time to venture further north, and we did not regret it one bit.
The Alykanas Beach Hotel has everything you could need for that perfect holiday.
We paid 28 Euros for a taxi from the airport to avoid sitting on a coach for an hour and got to the hotel slightly earlier than expected, so our room was not ready, but the cleaners were in in a flash and gutted the place top to bottom while we had a quick drink in the bar.
The rooms are typical 3 star Greek but very spacious, the shower pressure on the ground floor is amazing and can knock you off your feet.
The bar and eating area is very well planned out, and the waitress service was fantastic, the girls never stop working or smiling and are great with the kids.
The breakfasts are to die for 4.50 Euros will fill you up no problem.
The evening entertainment is good old quizzes and karaoke run by Dave, a real nice bloke that tries to get everyone involved and kept happy.
Nickos who runs the bar is a legend in the making and will provide additional entertainment.
The resort is spot on and has loads of restaurants and tavernas to choose from, our favourites were the Apollon, the Cosy Corner and Dionisis. we visited those more than once as they were so good.
Bike and car hire is cheap in the resort and water sports are right on the beach.
We couldn't have asked for a better hotel and location and are looking forward to going back next year.

Just returned from two weeks at Alykanas Beach and was every bit as good as last year. The setting is perfect right on the beach and the sea is so safe and shelves so slowly, ideal for children, plenty of sunbeds around a good clean pool area. Can be a bit noisy in the evening if you are in an apartment over the bar area, but is not every night. Apartments very roomy and plenty of storage space, toilet/ shower room needed a bit of tlc but this is Greece so didn't affect our holiday. Smashing restaurants within easy walking distance of apartments and all on the flat. Already decided to go back next year.

Room Tip: Rooms on the outside of blocks A and C would be the quietest, top floors give the best views.

Me and my partner spent a week in the Alakanas beach hotel at the end of september 2012 and it was the first time we had stayed in this hotel but it surely won't be our last. What an amazing time we had.

Transfer from the airport was fast. It stated in the brochure it should have taken around 30-45 minutes but was only 15-20 which we was very happy about.

We was checked into the hotel very quickly and had the choice to be shown to our rooms but we chose to take our luggage up and find the room ourselves.

The room was spacious and clean. Good all round view of the mountains/pool/beach. Good sized bathroom with plenty of hot water. Comfortable beds and good aircon. Small self catering kitchenette. I am a light sleeper and I have read numerous reviews about the noise on a night from other holiday makers but we had none whatsoever.

Staff at the hotel was fantastic and was always eager to solve any problems we had. Nikos the night bar man made us feel welcome and was a good laugh throughout our stay. Due to us flying home early hours of the morning, we chose against the late check out, and sat around the bar. We had met another couple during our stay and they was leaving at the same time and hadnt chosen the late check out option too. We had asked reception if we could have blankets because it was getting quite chilly, instead of blankets, the hotel manager gave us all a room to sleep in for free which we was all very grateful about.

The food was basic but good quality. Highly recommend the cheesy chips! Lol. They was amazing!

The weather was the hottest september they've had for a few years. We experienced a freak heat wave and temperatures hit 46 degrees.

We did 2 excursions within the week. We did the Jolly Rodger boat trip and the main water park, both booked through Thomas cook. I advise to book with the guys down the little strip as its alot cheaper but we still had an amazing time during both excursions. We also rented a quad bike for a day. It was €25 for the day and only cost around €10 for a full tank and It lasted the full day bearing in mind we had travelled the full island.

All in all It was a fantastic stay, we enjoyed every minute and highly recommend this hotel. We will be going again asap! We just wish it was all inclusive cause that would be perfect!

we stayed at the Alykanas Beach with a group of family and friends. we loved the location....we have holidayed on lots of the Greek islands and have never enjoyed such a perfect location...right on the beach with various water sports at hand. the apartments were spotless. the pool area is also cleaned to a high standard. the management do not allow sunbeds to be reserved before 10am. We found all the staff to be very friendly..we were celebrating my wifes birthday during our stay and she was presented with not one but two beautiful birthday cakes! We were a party of eighteen ranging in age from 18 to 60 something!! We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have all said we wouldnt hesitate to return. Food at the bar/snack bar is really nice but if you do venture out i would highly recommend the family run Belkiris ( next door to the bakery)....it is only a small family run taverna but the food and service is really good. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location with high standards of cleanliness and friendliness you wont go far wrong with the Alykanas Beach. A previous review mentions noise from guests.....unfortunately this can be annoying but it is down to the guests and not the hotel. Happy holidays!

Room Tip: high floors for great views... room 360 has both pool and sea views

Just returned from the apart-hotel and can honestly say that I cannot find a single negative thing to say about it. All the staff are really nice and friendly but a special mention of Megan and Fontina at the bar/snack bar area (there between 8am and 4pm) they never stop all day and are always lovely to you. We had our 9 year old grandson with us and he loved it, he was just in and out the pool all day. Met lots of people who return here year after year. The location is one of the best I have been to, right on the beach with fantastic views. The rooms are cleaned every day and linen changed 3 times a week. Would recommend the huge breakfast you get at snack bar, 4.50 euros and well worth it, as are the huge pizzas which are gorgeous. If you want total relaxation with lovely people, this place is for you.

Room Tip: We were in 147 on the top floor that overlooked Ammos bar and you got the sun from sunrise to 12noon...

Just returned from this place and will never be coming back.NOISE NOISE NOISE thats all you get,the rooms are in corridors and the noise when guests come back at night is just terrible. The staff were friendly and good with kids,If your thinking of booking these apartments don't bother we could'nt wait to get home for some much needed sleep thanks to the noise and rock hard beds.
