Every time we come to Molivos we make at least two visits to this glorious little taverna. Last month we made more, having been re-enchanted all over again. Two things especially recommend this place: first of all, it's one of the last proper family kitchens in the area – you can go in the kitchen and have a look what's fresh (much better than looking at the menu) and the ingredients for vegetable dishes that include Definitely the World's Best Greek Salad are picked a few feet from your table, in the exquisite kitchen garden that adjoins the prettily-appointed restaurant itself. Second: the view. It ain't called Panorama for nothing! "Awesomely peaceful" is the only way I can do it justice. You can sit on the upper deck in the open for drinks; but downstairs and under the canopy gives your beer or wine (they keep a decent carafe if the freezing Amstell doesn't for some unimaginable reason fit the bill) lush shade whilst letting you take in the truly inspirational vista of Molivos bay and the harbour commanded from one of the handful of tables. A dazzling location in which to rejoice in glorious home cooking: stuffed peppers, various chops, zucchini flowers... all these are cooked to order and to a perfection only surpassed by the amazing handling of any fresh fish you order. I still remember from a few years back the sheer visual beauty of a plate packed with fried, wafer-crispy gavros ("little fish") arriving at our table, the smell delectable, the heat rising from the hot shoal itself almost searing our already-watering eyes. I recall we just looked from the beautifully-freighted table to a point out at sea a few miles out and worked on getting back our breath before falling to the food... which, yes, more than lived up to the artistry of its display with its utterly perfect flavours. A visit to Panorama and its friendly proprietors is a joyous experience in so many ways; I urge you to try it.
