The service was excellent. Giorgios in particular was very helpful; his advice regarding restaurants, beaches, driving routes and everything else was always spot-on. He was never too busy for us and always had time to help.

For those who plan on hiring a car the location is excellent too, the hotel is conveniently located close to the lovely town of Chania, and many of the island's best beaches. The bus service seemed good too though, so getting into Chania would still be very easy without a car. If you think you may have any trouble with long flights of stairs though, you may have difficulty getting to and from the hotel from the beach or bus stop.

The pool was lovely, the rooms were clean, breakfast was yummy, the views were fantastic, and the whole family were friendly and helpful.

We stayed for a week at the beginning of Sept, the weather was generally very nice, if a bit windy on a couple of days.

Thank you Giorgios for eveything, and sorry we're late with our review! Hope the new website is going well. Love Nasrin and Raeya x x x

We stayed at Renieris hotel from October 8th – 19th 2006. The weather was mostly bad while we were at Crete ( which is very unnormal for October), but still we had a wonderful stay. One of the main reasons for this was the friendly family who runs the hotel. They seemed really interested in all their guests, and we felt very welcome from the minute we arrived till we waved goodbye on leaving.

The room was very clean, - as the rest of the hotel. The beds were OK, and so was the bathroom. There was a shower – not a cabinet – but the sort with a curtain around. The balcony had an amazing view over the village of Kato Stalos and the sea. When the weather was bad, it could be quite windy on the balcony, but on calmer days it felt very relaxing to just sit there and let the eyes rest on the view below.

Breakfast was served as a buffet. Not the biggest choice in the world, but very OK. It consisted of fresh bread, different sorts of jam, cheese, fresh orange juice, fresh milk and coffee/tea. There were also cereals, yoghurt and honey.

The fastest way to the beach was down the 97 steps from the pool-area. Then you had to cross a road, and there you were. Because of the weather we didn’t spend so many hours on the beach. Instead we walked around in the area. Just behind the hotel rural Crete begins. Here are small farms, vineyards and orchards with oranges and peaches.. A couple of kilometres away we found the town of Galatas and the village of upper Stalos. Here are few tourists. In upper Stalos there are a couple of good restaurants serving Cretan food for a much lower price than in the tourist area.

We visited the town of Chania a couple of times. Nice town with a beautiful Venetian harbour, Busconnections are good ( at least one bus every 30 minutes) but due to the weather, many people wanted to visit Chania and the buses were very crowded. We therefore walked into Chania on one occasion. It’s just 6 kilometers, but traffic was heavy and pavements missing or very narrow.

We have no problems in recommending Renieris hotel. It’s situated in a nice area, near the beach and offers a very clean an friendly accommodation. Due to weather circumstances we stayed more indoor than we had planned to do, - and the staff managed to create a very positive atmosphere. They also gave a lot of useful information – all from recipes on Cretan food to information about politics, geography and what to do. We look forward to coming back.

We have found out about the Renieris by searching the internet. We have stayed with them for a week at the beginning of September. The whether was beautiful (it seemed like it never rains in Crete). We were not sure if we should rent a car or not but we did; this allowed us to see probably the most beautiful beaches in Create (recommended by Georgios of course - Falassarna, Elafonisi, Balos, Frangocastelo, Piso Preveli).

Georgios and his family run the hotel. They will answer every single question you have and even try to help you learn some Greek.
The price is a real bargain, the AC was included, and everything was so clean you could even feel bad touching stuff around the room.
The room was very quiet and the view ...magnificent!
Breakfast was included and it was great. Fresh juices, cheese and, of course, yogurt with honey which we could not have enough of.
They did not hug us like they hugged others but if we ever go back to Crete, Renieris is the place we will choose.

Keep up the good work Georgios. You are doing great
Efharisto!!! :)

We stayed at the Hotel for a week this month. It was an immaculately clean new hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and gave us advice on how to get to destinations by bus and some traditional greek places to visit, such as Kolimbari, the monastery there is worth visiting and much less touristy than some others, the beach has a few tavernas , which are good, its just a beautiful peaceful place to visit, I hope it stays that way!
Chania is lovely I would recommend not visiting on a Saturday as its gets very busy and its a fight to get on buses at the bus station, during the week is much better, the fortezza is a good place for a drink and the views. The beach near the hotel was a bit steep and had seaweed, but if you walk along the beach towards ayia marina, just around a small headland, its much better there and the water is shallow and better for swimming.
The hotel was very good and very reasonably priced, I was surprised it was 2 stars, the hairdryers were effective, I have stayed in some 4 star hotels where it took hours to dry your hair with their hairdryers. There was not televisions in the rooms but I think thats a good thing if you want to get away from it all.
There are steps down to the beach, but I found my legs toned up nicely by the end of the holiday, but it may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties. Breakfast I thought could be improved by having more variety, maybe croissants, pastries and fresh fruit some mornings, and maybe a toaster.
We really enjoyed our stay, it was a quiet peaceful hotel, we would liked to have stayed longer. I would recommend it, and if we stayed in the area again we would stay there, its a good base for exploring the west of Crete .

This is an ideal new little hotel. Being a 2 star hotel, the accomodations are fairly basic, but, in reality, it has everything you need. We stayed 3 nights, the service was fantastic and super friendly, the view great, no noise, comfortable room, quiet AC, good breakfast, great pool, a 15 minute drive to Hania. We would definetly go back there. Thanks Renieris!
