“Good quality Pousada”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

The main attraction of the Condeixa (pronounced Kon-day-sha) pousada is likely to be its location, half way up Portugal and a very short distance from the A1 motorway. It sits very handily for the beautiful university town of Coimbra (Portugal's Cambridge) (15 minutes' drive) and for the extensive Roman ruins at Conimbriga (10 minutes' drive).
The hotel has everything you would expect from a pousada - pleasant building, first class service and a good dining room. There is the bonus of a small swimming pool in the corner of lovely grounds. Rooms were fine, though showing some signs of age.
Breakfast was good, buffet style, although the pousada staff were clearly struggling to cope with coach parties on two different mornings (coach parties are also one of the downsides of the hotel's location). The dinner was excellent and reasonable value.
You will almost certainly have a car to have chosen this hotel in the first place, but the small town of Condeixa-a-Nova is just down the road by foot; the centre has been renovated and looks fresh and bright. When you tire of the pousada food, there is a local restaurant within a couple of minutes' walk, the Cabritino (see reviews), and in Condeixa itself there are two or three options, including the new and pleasant ".Come" (I hope to review this). Beware that the local speciality is kid, so goat features large on menus, sometimes cunningly disguised as lamb. Try it if you must.
Overall a solid recommendation for an overnight or short stay. Check the Pousada website as they often have excellent deals.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the gardens rather than the road.

We stayed there Sept. 4, 2012 with son, daughter in law and 11 month old granddaughter. We were next to each other's rooms, and that made it more fun, as we had an elevated patio next to each other. The setting was lovely. Ask for a room on the pool side! We picked it due to nearness to Conimbriga Roman ruins, Fatima, and Obidos. that worked well. The setting was lovely and the small town was charming. The patio and garden pool were like a country home in England. The beds were not comfortable at all, and the rooms were small but functional. The staff were very pleasant and some really tried to please. The restaurant was acceptable and food varied in quality, but not worth the price. You area bit captive for dinner, or we just didn;t do enough homework. The breakfast (incl. w/room) was OK, and the time of year and climate were great.

Room Tip: Get one on first guest level, toward the pool, with a patio, for a great evening and morning view, a...

We stopped here one night travelling north in Portugal. It is not an historic building as is usually the case with Pousadas but one which is maybe 20 years old. However the hotel has a warm welcoming feel and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Highlight is the staff who without exception were warm and welcoming. Restaurant is airy and well run. Close to old Roman ruins. Well worth a stay

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool it is facing the view and away from the road.

Nice building and rooms with a pleasant garden and pool. The rooms are pleasant and clean but in need of some refurbishment. The food in the restaurant is pricy but good quality. Unfortunately the hotel was understaffed during our stay with the reception staff helping in the restaurant. In the bar they had run out of the drinks we ordered and in the afternoon we waited rather long for someone to serve us a drink and no waiter ever came. Overall, given we had a very good discount rate we found it good value for money but the breakfast was pretty bad with limited choice of bread and juices. A great place to stay if you want to visit Combra, provided you have a car.

Room Tip: Choose a room with garden view!

We were 5 nights on this very nice and quiet pousada. Especially the backside of the buiding is nice, with te great garden and spacious swimmingpool. We had a superior room on the backside, which means a large room with a very large balcony with table and chairs, facing the garden and swimmingpool. There are only 8 of this rooms. The beds are very good and the bathroom very spacious.
From the pousade you can take the autoroads in 2 minutes. You can choose the tol-road (A1) or the free road (IC2).
You can see them from your room. The breakfast was good with much choise. The staf was very friendly; you can also use the internet. We loved this pousada very much. In the evening you can use the restaurant, which is rather pricy. There is no choise of small eatings.

Room Tip: The superior rooms on the backside are the best (with spacious balcony)
