“excellent all inclusive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

Our first time all inclusive with Thompsons. Resort was very well run, clean, well placed and had everything we needed. Food was plentiful and prepared in the on site kitchens and was varied with different food every day.

Room Tip: Higher floors had less noise.

I did not enjoy this holiday at all. Holidays for me are about relaxing. IF you wish to relax DO NOT go to this hotel. There is constant noise from the pool bar music and children screaming the place down while there parents do nothing.
I had asked First Choice for a quiet location so in all fairness it was their fault for sending us there not the hotels for being loud.
The hotel were quite accommodating and moved us up to a higher floor. I will point out though that you can most certainly not see the sea as there is a hotel in front which blocks the view.
One of the things that bothered me the most was the way parents allowed there children to go to the buffet unaccompanied. On several occasions i saw them using their fingers to help themselves to food, licking spoons and putting them back, one girl bit a cake decided she didn't want it and popped it back. Of course they know no better so its the lazy parent who are at fault. Even though i complained to staff and the manager, who were all smiles and promises, it was still happening. This really put me off
I have been to several RIUs and this is by far the worse nothing like the service and attention to detain of the others.
On top of this their was a revolting sewage smell coming from our bathroom unless we put the plug in the bath. This took them 4 days to resolve!
Over all id say this hotel is by no means couple friendly but families looking for a loud holiday with little relaxation, such as you may find at Butlins, would be fine, however the remote location may not suit as there is no more than an over priced shop in walking distance.
The walk to the beach is quite pleasant we only did the stairs and didn't find it to hard.
I felt like i needed another holiday to get over my visit to this hotel!

Room Tip: Go as high as you can!

As i would expect with Riu, the hotel staff were outstanding. On arrival our room overlooked the circus!!! Moved without fuss to a poolside view room. Couldn't get wifi to work, they hired me a cable for a refunded 5 euro deposit. Still couldn't, get a connection!! a technician was at my door checking the connection in the wall socket within 10 minutes.
Animation team by day were absolutley fantastic, always smiling, talking and engaging when encouraged. Food and drink was fine.Evening entertainment .... well it was dire (typical Riu.) but pretty much what i expected.
Only dissapointment was the amount of unruly spanish children running round , unchecked. But you can't really blame the Hotel for the poor manners of their guests.
Excellent Hotel and staff, good value, and i would return

We deliberately chose this hotel out of the Thomsons brochure because it was a kids friendly hotel with a kids club. We were here in late October and the hotel was relatively quiet, with only about 10 kids in the kids club. However, usually there was only one staff member there and I would have liked to have seen more. There were other activities around the pool during the day for adults and children.
The hotel was good, only 4 years old so in good condition, and very clean - there were cleans working all day. The room (a superior) was a reasonable size with a sofa bed for our daughter. The main bed although large was extremely hard. The bathroom was also a good size. The shower over the bath was integrated with the bath water and did not work properly. There are some larger family rooms in the annex. The style of the hotel and decor is contemporary.
The main restaurant was a reasonable size, but the food was repetitive, OK if you like fish (cooked various ways) or pork fish (cooked various ways). The food offered at lunch time appeared on the evening selection and no cold meats were offered. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was continental style or cooked, but again variety was limited. The other restaurants were closed.
The hotel has 2 good outside pools, but they were very cold. There is an indoor pool that was warmer, but was obviously darkish inside. The floor was slippy at least 3 children slipped badly while I was there.
There is a beach volley ball pitch and a tennis court that doubled up for football and basket ball, also a petanque court. There was 1 pool table and 2 ping-pong tables, a pinball and an air hockey machine Otherwise not much else. There were other activities organised by the staff including air rifle shooting.
There was only one bar open, although there are self service dispensors (soft drinks, coffee and beer) outside. The bar area has a stage and seating for the evening shows.
There is a sand beach just a short walk down from the hotel, but when we were there there were large waves. Aside from that there are a few local shops and restaurants near by.
This hotel is not like the Riu Palace, which is on the same complex. The Palace is aimed at the older clients without young children and is a much quieter, old style hotel.
Overall we enjoyed the stay and the only down side was the hard bed, the food and the cold pools.

We have stayed in many hotels and this was by far the very best. Everything from the second we arrived was great. The food was wonderful- lots of choise, always hot etc. Everywhere was very clean. Very helpful staff. Our son loved the entertainment and for the first time ever went to the kids club. Everything as spot on- no complaints at all.

Room Tip: High floor, Pool view

This RIU may be a bit smaller than some but it is still an excellent place to stay.

A typical day at this hotel

Get up and mark out sunbeds for the day (yes I know everybody hates that) then showered – decent water pressure and enough towels. Wander on to the balcony to have a look at the view over the pools.

Breakfast is good, like all the subsequent meals, everything is there but this is a RIU so the coffee provided in jugs is awful. Get it from the machine instead.

Time for several hours relaxing by the pool before the next meal. The areas are well laid out and clean, if a bit overloaded with sunbeds. We stayed near the main pool because it was the biggest (there is a 0.4m children’s pool and another which could have been the quiet pool) with plenty of room to mess around even when the Animation team organised water polo. The swim up bar was a bonus.

Better have lunch so you can either eat near the pool or go to the main restaurant which is not massive but still has enough choice – even for fussy vegetarians.

Back to the pool, or perhaps the Kids club to get out of the heat for a while.

Once you have finished swimming for the day the rooms are well laid out and, as always, immaculate.

OK, time for dinner and you can either eat at the Asian restaurant (mainly if not all Chinese/Japanese) which needs booking and is worth going to if you like this kind of food – which I do not but my wife and older lad did and very much enjoyed, or you can go to the main restaurant with an excellent choice. There is, I think, another restaurant which may be a steak house.

Well, that is that then – time for bed except no because, of course, it is only 9pm so sit outside the main bar enjoying a cool breeze and a few drinks before we go to bed several hours later and start the whole thing again.

Would I go back to this hotel, well yes and no: only no because there are other hotels I would like to see otherwise yes in an instant

Who travelled? Family of four, one seven year old boy and one twelve month old baby.

Room Tip: Get a room as high up as possible overlooking the pool

Really enjoyed all aspects of this hotel. Check in very fast and efficient. Room with a pool view was incredible. Pool very cold, but once you were in and swam a few laps, was absolutely fine.
Kids club and entertainment team kept us all happy and busy. Can't stop singing "chi, chi, wow" since we arrived home. The hotel staff happily kept the rooms, bar, restaurant and grounds clean and tidy at all times. Thankyou
