“What a wonderful host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

We stayed here on our cycle tour for 2 nights. A lovely place, clean and comfortable and great location. The shower was the smallest I have seen in my life, so quite a challenge!!... but we managed and had a laugh. The owner/ host, well, what a lovely friendly lady, she lights up the room and makes you feel so welcome!

This was a great find and so centrally situated! We were within very close distance from places to eat, shop and sight see. The lady was so friendly and attentive to any requirements/queries we had. The room was very clean, not cluttered, with an ample en-suite shower room. The breakfast (included in price) was fresh and more than enough and was available between 8-11am which was a good 'window of time' in comparison to some places. I would stay definitely there again.

We stayed here for one night in April. Had our choice of the rooms. All were en suite and a good size. Everything was very clean. The owner was very welcoming. She didn't speak a word of English, but we got by on my (frankly, lousy) Spanish.

If you want to stay in Odeceixe, this place is a good choice.

Now, whether you actually want to stay here is another question. It's a two-bar tourist town. I'm pretty sure we were the only tourists there. Most of the hotels and restaurants were closed, and there really isn't anything else. The guidebook said that the beach is 4km away. It described it as 'a lovely walk'. I guess you could see it as such, if by lovely, you mean climbing uphill on a paved road, with cars coming at you around blind curves. The guest house owner was surprised that we wanted to walk there. We ended up turning back after 500m and getting the car.

Difficult to add much to the previous English language comments. Dona Celeste is a lovely lady who obviously delights in making her guests feel completely at home. The whole place is beautifully clean and right in the middle of Odeceixe with a pastelaria, bars and restaurants all within a few yards and parking a couple of minutes away. In March 2011 the place was very quiet and we hardly heard a sound at night during our weekend stay although we assume that in the summer Odeceixe becomes livelier and noisier. Our room was small but pleasant although, as is normal with most Portuguese establishments, the bed was hard. At the low season rate of 35€ per night including breakfast Casa Hospedes Celeste is excellent value and recommended.

This simple yet spotlessly clean little guesthouse in the heart of Odeceixe was excellent value (40 euro a night) and had the nicest and most friendly owner you could wish for. Only Portuguese is spoken but this is part of its charm (ie you are not spoken to in rude broken-English), the free breakfast was substantial and excellent and the rooms quiet and comfortable. A real gem.

Odeceixe itself is absolutely lovely - a world away from the package tourists and cocrete high-rises of the Algarve´s southern coast, it has a backpacker/surfer vibe while remaining a traditional Portuguese village. Great traditional restaurants, one quite lively bar, and a beautiful old church and windmill. The beach is a short drive (or long walk) from the village and is one of the most spectacular in Portugal.

This is a simple hotel with modern furnishings and a good location right in the centre of the village. The owner does not speak English but she is very welcoming and clearly takes a great pride in keeping everything ship-shape. Simple but perfectly adequate breakfast. Very good value for money.
