We visited the Conrad in July for the first time and had a wonderful two week holiday. The hotel is superb and we would recommend it to anyone. The weather was also fantastic. We had been regular's at the Quinta Do Lago hotel for many year's and always had a great time there and found the hotel excellent but we found over the last couple of visit's that the place was starting to get a bit tired and had not really moved on so we fancied a change and were not disappointed. This hotel don't forget had been open for less than a year and although there are always things that can be improved we could not find many faults.
The facilities at the hotel are superb. The drive up to the hotel is really nice and the front of the hotel is very impressive when you arrive. The staff at the hotel are also really nice and go out of there way to help you and welcome your feedback on certain issues which I found very good customer service.
The rooms are spacious and modern and make for a very comfortable stay. The bathrooms are superb and a great bonus is that they offer free wi-fi in the rooms which is fantastic. All you need is a code from reception which last's for three days each time I believe. All hotel's around the world should offer this service and I hope the Conrad keeps this policy and does not charge for Wi-Fi in the rooms in the future.
The only poor things about the rooms is the choice of TV stations. They are shocking. Hardly any English channels, and no Sky News or even CNN. They had a lot of foreign stations. They need to buy a new TV Package because we all thought it was really poor for this hotel. Most places in the Algarve have Sky Sports and the Channels you get at home like the BBC and ITV.
The hotel has two outdoor pools which are stunning and great to swim in. We stayed around the Infinity Pool which is the main Pool at the front of the hotel but the lower pool, which more families with young children use is also very good. Sun Bed's are also very comfortable and staff around the pool are very friendly and helpful. There is also a really nice indoor pool at the hotel.
The Spa is excellent and offer's a wide selection of treatment's and the Gym is very good. Nice and big with plenty of equipment. There is also one tennis court at the hotel, although it does have a bit of a slope on it which is odd.
The food at the hotel is excellent but the portions are a bit on the small size and could do with being a bit bigger in my opinion. The breakfast is really nice with a wide selection of foods which are really tasty. When we had lunch at the hotel we ate in the main Louro Restaurant and found this very nice as well. We ate dinner in Gusto the fine dining restaurant once during our stay and although the food is superbly cooked I came out still a bit hungry. We normally eat out most nights when we stay in Quinta but had to try Gusto.
The shuttle bus service to the hotels' section of beach also works out quite well and the bus goes every hour and the bus is less than ten minutes away and there is also a nice restaurant by the beach for lunch called Maria's.
Along with the poor TV Channel selection in the rooms another slight criticism of the hotel would be the service at breakfast and how the food is served. First of all as I have already mentioned the food served is excellent. But the staff are very slow to clear your plates at breakfast and this was quite annoying when you had to hand them plates to take away. In my opinion there was not enough staff at breakfast. The hotel also operated a strange policy in terms of how there Muesli was served (this what I had each morning). It was served in these mini pots which you had to keep getting refilled. This should of been served in a bigger bowl. Also the milk at breakfast was kept in these really small jugs which I had to get refilled at nearly every breakfast during the two weeks which was really annoying as you had to wait. The milk should be served in bigger jugs because cereal is popular at breakfast. I know I am being picky but this is an honest review of our holiday at the hotel.
So overall apart from my two slight criticism's which I am sure can be sorted out this hotel is very hard to fault, particularly as it is still less than a year old. It is not a cheap hotel but is definitely not over the top in terms of price.
We will almost certainly be coming back for our summer holiday next year and it would be interesting to see how the hotel has changed a year on and what improvements they made.
If you want a great European holiday then this hotel is going to be hard to beat in my opinion.
We really enjoyed our time at The Conrad Algarve.
I would choose the rooms at the back of the hotel which look over the pools which I think are called...
