“Relaxing”

This is absolutely a wonderful and perfect place for relaxing and to see Alentejo!
Great views from our terrace and fantastic sunsets views.
Private places and luxury tents, very comfortable also for our 1year old child.
Very friendly hosts!

We had a fantastic break, nearly 2 weeks, staying in the lovely yurt at Portugal Nature lodge. A yurt is a wooden framed tent with a felt cover shaped a bit like a round beehive and the yurt at PNL is beautifully decorated inside and extremely comfortable.
I wouldn’t really think of this as camping – a large bed with clean sheets, private hot shower and lots of space and beautiful views! A comfortable bed can be done up inside the yurt for children, with its own mosquito net which also worked really well. Peter and Joke are extremely welcoming with lots of great advice and recommendations and a really good knowledge of the surrounding countryside. They have also created a truly peaceful area; as soon as you arrive, you start to relax!
There is a great swimming pool for little dips and outside the yurt is a hammock that you can lie in and watch the sky or listen to the local cow bells. The surrounding beaches are fantastic and just a scenic drive away so you can happily spend all day on the beach too.
The kitchen contains plenty of pots, pans, crockery and cutlery but is fairly basic. There is a portable gas cooker with 2 rings and a small fridge. I think most people seem to eat out quite a lot but we had complicated dietary requirements and did all our meals at the yurt and we managed fine.
It is good to know that the yurts, tipis and safari lodge are at the top of a bit of a rise and the paths are quite steep. This is great for the lovely views and peaceful feelings, but is difficult for small children and anyone who might struggle on uneven ground. The mosquitoes are also voracious, especially in the kitchen at night so definitely take long trousers, socks and a long sleeve shirt to cover up in the evening!
Overall, we had a truly wonderful and relaxing fortnight holiday and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Portugal Nature Lodge to anyone who wants to get off the beaten track and relax.

What a wonderful experience to stay in a safari tent on our own private hill in beautiful settings. Our hosts Peter and Joke created a perfect stay - so attentive to detail and thoughtful.

The tent itself has all the mod cons (a GREAT shower, proper plumbing and very good kitchen), along with a very comfortable double bed, some nice lighting and a large relaxing deck with great views. A couple of days we barely left, after a delicious home made breakfast, we sat and read in peace and tranquility. We also had homemade food every evening from Karen (ask for her menu, which is delicious).

The local area is very pretty with some great walks and the nearest beaches are also very nice, authentic Portuguese experiences. We loved every minute of our stay (and I'm not a big fan of camping normally).

Thank you Peter and Joke for such a luxurious and enjoyable time.

Room Tip: Safari tent is great for couples and also the most watertight option!

It was such a pleasure to be with Peter & Joke a Dutch couple who founded Portual Nature Lodge. The luxury of a hotel (beds in tents), a massage next to the tipi tent, breakfast delivered in the morning with home made waffles. Just great and only 4 places available. It's like out of africa in Europe! The places Joke recommended were fantastic, and with a car you can enjoy nice beaches, a walk along a river etc. The kids loved it (7 and 12 years) Keep up the fantastic work!

Heaven on earth, with great views!

Perfect spot for a base to explore the SW coast of Portugal; can easily drive to coast to hike, bike, kayak, eat at great fresh seafood restaurants on beautiful beaches as well as explore mountains and all of Alentejo region. Staying in tipi. yurt or safari tent is wonderful experience; very high-end camping with own ktichen, indoor bathroom with hot water and shower. Total comfort!

Room Tip: Safari tent best view, most room

Imagine a Mongolian Yurt, Tepee, or Safari Hut set in a grove of cork trees, next to open pasture with cowbells ringing in the distance. You have just finished showering in your private outdoor bathroom, you are making some coffee on the outdoor gas stovetop. Your breakfast of warm Portugese rolls, yougurt, fruit, ham and cheese, is delivered by Peter or Joke- a young Dutch couple who are the owners of this unique gem set within hiking distance of the Mira river, and ten km from some of the most beautiful coastline in Portugal. Peter and Joke are two of the nicest people you could meet, speak fluent English, and provided a wealth of information of out of the way places which you would never find in a guidebook.
Of our ten days in Portugal, the four days we spent at Portugal Nature Lodge with Peter and Joke were far and away the best . We highly reccommend the PNL for anyone interested in a "high end camping" experience in an idyllic setting.

Room Tip: safari hut, yurt and tepee all fine
