“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

If you get the chance to stay at Ivo's place - Villa Kukuljica - when visiting Dubrovnik, do it!
It's not a 5 star hotel, it is not equipped with a swimming pool, and you do not get a huge morning buffet, nor do you have a 10 pages menu card to choose from. But you have friendliness, warmth and a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere. And Ivo and his family are genuine heart warm people that will ensure you have an excellent stay there.
I will definitely go back!

One small side note: Wine lovers should bring their own wine. But Ivo knows this... :-)

Room Tip: Choose the rooms on 1st floor - they come with a balcony.

We stayed for 7 nights in July. Lovely clean, spacious room with a great view of Zaton bay. The hotel has a fantastic private jetty area with steps down to water and a vine covered terrace area for dining. Ivo and his family were very helpful and welcoming. Overall, it was a perfect location for a relaxing break.

My wife and I stayed here after two nights at the Hilton. After relaxing here for and day, we could only ask why we did not stay here sooner.

The hotel room was nice, clean and simple. The owners were so warm and friendly they made us feel very welcome.

We also enjoyed dinner here and it was one of the best of our trip throughout Croatia.

The Inn is very close to Dubrovnik and if we did this again, we stay here and travel in to see the Old City instead of staying in the actual city .

Some people (we meet one family) come here every year for a week or so. We can see why, this is a lovely place to stay. Maybe even our favorite out of the many places we stayed on our trip to Croatia.

As an added benefit, the cost of staying here is AMAZING. What a great value.

A great place to stay out of Dubrovnik right on the water. Very friendly hosts who ensured we were looked after well. The water outside the front door was glorious to swim in and we were lucky enough to have a direct view of the water. We had a very clean and spacious room. Breakfast was most appropriate. Very quiet at night. It is not located in Dubrovnik, but in a location to the north so don't expect to be able to walk into the old town. Parking was very good however.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with water views

Stayed for a week with a group of friends. The owner could not be more friendly - nothing was too much to ask! Transition from airport to hotel was smooth (he waits at the airport with a sign) and the room we had (family suite) was spacious. The hotel cook food in the evenings, fresh fish/meat platter and accompaniments. It was incredibly good value, so much so that we only ate out (in Dubrovnik, a short car journey away) once. We also ate breakfast at the hotel every day which was plentiful and again, good value.

The bay area is quiet, there are very few places to eat/drink but we didn't find this to be a problem for the above reasons. If you're looking to be in the thick of the action, I would recommend staying somewhere within Dubrovnik itself. If you want the city to be accessible but enjoy the peace and quiet at the same time, I thoroughly recommend this villa. There is a place across the bay (5 min walk) where you can rent kayaks, try paddle boarding and book day trips to various islands etc.

We had a family room looking over the bay. The views were spectacular.
The service from Ivo and his parents was incredible. They couldn't do enough for us.

We had food almost every night, fresh fish which was beautiful (best fish I've tasted!) or meat which was varied every night.

We asked for a taxi and they offered to take us into Dubrovnik at a fracture of the cost of a taxi which was great.

Would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone. Stunning place, with amazing service.

This is a very friendly family run place. The outer dining area, with very comfortable seats, is under a vine covered taverna within 10 meters of the sea. Food is simple, one fish dish (the catch of the day) and one meat dish, so wife and I ordered them and shared. Both excellent, best fish dish I have ever had! (Red Snapper that day. Ivo (the son of the house) pampered us all evening suggesting wines and puddings, etc. His family, father, mother (the chef), wife and children were seated at the next table and included us in their very friendly conversation. Sadly we did not find this lovely place until our last evening. I would most certainly return.
