“Just above the Airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Steep hill for about 100 yards of rough pavement to Hotel. We took a Taxi for outgoing, quick and easy and inexpensive and dry since it was raining.

People are nice and room was clean and spacious but a little warm even with AC.

Breakfast did not occur. Nor did our on line reservation but they did fit us in in a more expensive family room. The in room safe was not there but the free WiFi worked well enough.

I would have given this a poor rating but the truth is, it was clean, functional and the front desk was helpful and friendly. The simple, old fashioned French breakfast of bread, croissant and jam was very good.

Otherwise, this place was pretty bad. When people say steep, they aren't kidding. We drove our rental car and getting in and out of the entrance was dangerous because we could not see beyond the very steep corner. Parking was under the hotel and very cramped, Getting luggage to the room from the lobby was a trip in itself because of the steep hill we had to roll them up, in the rain. It was either that or two flights of stairs in dark hallways.

It is NOT convenient to the airport because although you can see (and hear) the airport, you can't get to it unless you take an overpriced taxi. There is no shuttle and walking is difficult (very steep) and possibly dangerous. Even if you decide to take on this challenging hike, with luggage, at least one of my guidebooks recommended against walking since people have been robbed early in the morning along this route. The hotel has no restaurant or bar so you either have to walk or hire an overpriced taxi to get food. Wi-fi is free but you can't get a connection except in the lobby. If you have any mobility issues, do not stay at this hotel. Actually, unless you are in excellent physical shape and enjoying hiking in hot, humid conditions with heavy backpacks, do not stay in this hotel.

If you have an early morning flight and have a day to kill after a cruise, as we did, a better choice is to hire a rental car for 24 hours and stay at one of the resorts a little further out or even in Papeete. You can pick up Hertz and Avis near the dock in Papeete., drop off is easy and right across from the airport terminal. No expensive taxis and you have a car for the day to explore the island. Best of all, you have a choice of other nearby hotels.

Room Tip: Hire a rental car for a day and stay at another hotel.

Stayed here for only one night, and we're happy it was only one! It was NOT worth the money for what we got (or didn't get.) Wifi was horribly slow, water never got hot in the shower (luke warm...very disappointing and unenjoyable), and there was NOTHING in walking distance except one overpriced chinese restaurant. (And werw told it was lik $15-25 taxi ride into Papeete.) AND at night OMG I kept finding these big flying bus all over the room!!! Ahhh!! Where the heck were they coming from??...had to be the wall, yuk!

Positives: The room was very clean and modern, bathroom average, and large window overlooking the airport. Easy walk from FAA airport.

If I had no other option, I would stay here again, but the bugs really grossed me out!!

Please beware! My husband and I booked this hotel just to get some rest while on a 6 hour layover from tahiti back to LA. We thought it would be great since its literally across the parking lot of the FAA Tahiti airport. However what no one told us was that its up a steep hill and they have NO ELEVATORS. Like crossfit champions we lugged 12 bags up the hill to then lug those same 12 bags up 4 flights of stairs!!! It was awful!!! I would have rather sat out the 6 hours in the airport. The rooms are clean and fine if you will be in town for a short time but not if you are traveling with lots of luggage and want atmosphere.

Reminded me of a motel 6. The room is incredibly simple. Two twin beds and a table in between. But having been stuck for one night in Papetee it worked. Right across from the airport. Taxi from airport was 1600CFP and I heard another paid 1200. I was put on the third floor and directed to a ramp so luckily I didn't have to drag my suitcase three flights. Breakfast is included and consisted of coffee, juice, chocolate croissant and too, and cereal. Free wireless in the lobby but you will need your own device. Staff helpful and the room was clean. No Frills....no coffee in room, no hair dryer , no lotions, but for one night OK.

Room Tip: Goodness only knows. My room looked out on a parking lot.

Everything about this place is awful. Terrible location. Hike from the airport. Arrived drenched in sweat. Stairs, stairs and more stairs. If you are under 25 and a triathelete you should be ok. For the rest of us lugging suitcases up narrow stairs, steep, filthy unpaved streets running with effluence is just too much. AC in room barely worked. Told it takes 15 minutes to cool room never really achieved it. Bed extremely uncomfortable. Single sheet, no cover, duvet or blanket but not need as it never gets too cold. Mattress about 4 inches deep. Worst night sleep ever. There is nothing in the way of food nearby so a taxi round trip will cost about $45. Might as well take taxi to decent hotel instead of this nightmare place and get a reasonable nights sleep. This is not a motel - it is a HOSTEL. Should be called "The no one ever comes back hostel ".

Room Tip: go to another hotel.

The only good thing is that is located in front of thr airport, but......
to get to the motel you have to: climb two stairs to reach the road (uncomfortable considering all the laggages), than you have to climb a steep rump to the entrance, a cobbled path (terrible for wheeled laggages) then another flight of stairs, and finally you reach the reception.
There is no restaurant, no bar, no food of any kind, no drink of any kind.
The breackfast consist of a croissant (cold) from the bakery of the previous day, some cereals, and coffe or capuccino from your office coffe machine (they give you a token).
Everything for.....150$AU per night!
I don't know you, but I have been treated almost like a king for less than 150$AU.
