“Had a great time at Intercontinental Tahiti”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

We (wife + 2 kids) spent two night at the resort and had a great time. We reached early in the morning (6:30 AM) and as an ambassador member, we were welcomed with fruit juice, the staff were really courteous to help with the checkin process. We were allowed early check-in and as an ambassador member we were upgraded to an Over water bungalow. The resort is beautifully landscaped and provides gorgeous views of Moorea. The two swimming pools was fun, kids ended up spending almost the entire day in the pool. The breakfast, lunch & dinner was excellent at the restaurant. Some of the local dishes were served in really interesting way and tasted awesome. We missed the show in the evening as we had to take the kid to emergency (see below)

The room was very spacious with nice decor. Having tea & coffee on the over water bungalow at sunset and sunrise is just memorable. The water around the bungalow was a little deep so we didn't swim here since we were going to get plenty of time in our next stop on Moorea. But we did see other folks around happily swimming.

One of my kid ran a fever at the end of the first day of our stay, and the hotel staff was really helpful in arranging our trip to emergency and pharmacy. Luckily, the fever was just for overnite and they were able to enjoy the entire time in the resort.

Sorry, I can't recall the name of the staff members but really wanted to mention their names here since they made our stay more than comfortable. So, I will just say for the entire staff at the property - you guys are awesome, thanks for making this our dream vacation.

We stayed at the InterContinental Resort, Tahiti for 3 days before going to Bora Bora and then returned for an overnight stay before boarding the Ocean Princess. On our first stay we rated the hotel 10/10. We had a fabulous three days and could not fault the hotel and all its amenities. On our second visit we could not believe we were in the same hotel and rated it 1/10. There was a lack of friendly staff and reception was a very ordinary experience, certainly not up to Ambassador Club standard. Our supposedly upgraded room did not have the "wow" factor of our first visit. We asked for milk to have with a cup of tea in our room and were charged 290xpf plus 500xpf for delivery. With some reluctance they deleted these charges following a strong remonstration. We had to wait 20 minutes before a "bell boy" became available to take us and our luggage to our room. It took 3 phone calls to have our room made to Ambassador Club standard,ie; fresh fruit platter, fresh water etc. Ambassador Club provides for late check out and at the time of checking in we requested a 3.00pm check out. In the morning we went for a swim and returned to our room at noon. Our room key would not operate and staff had to let us in.It was hard for us to understand how this hotel could change so much from very good to very bad.

Dear Guest;
Thank you for being an Ambassador Member and for leaving us your feedback as we take our guests comments very seriously.
We are sorry to learn that you were not fully satisfied with the accommodation upgrade you received on your second stay. The hotel makes a point in honoring the accommodation upgrade for their Ambassador guests as they are entitled to, but with high volume of business, we cannot sometimes comply all of guest's preferences. Also, upon your second stay, no doubt that the massive wave of arrival involved some operational problems with more pressure in quality & delivery service, and we can only apologize for the shortfalls you have experienced.

Be assured that our team do his best to make our guests spend the best time possible. Most often they fully succeed. We hope that the good impression of your first stay will prevail and that you will give us the opportunity of serving you again in the future.
Sincerely.

We stay one night at the end of the cruise. They updated at no extra charge to a room with a beautiful view of the ocean and Morea. The room was large and comfortable; the bathroom was gorgeous. The staff was friendly. Our flight was not until midnight, but we were allowed to stay and use the hotel facilities until our 6 PM request. Our luggage was securely locked and we were provided with a room to shower and change. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

We just spent 7 nights in overwater bungalow Lagoon end "fantastic " Watch the sun set behind Moorea nightly sipping on a nice cool drink. Service was good, room clean, Staff could not be more helpfull. There is huge supermaket 10min. walk keep left when exiting hotel stay on circal island road. Good for cheese, wine ect so you can have a nibble and watch the sun go down in the evening while sipping on a good French wine at a good price.
We would stay there again no problum

Room Tip: you only live once go over water

Nice location with a wonderful pool, and snorkeling pool with tropical fish. Some on the rooms are on the water. You have a deck with stairs into the water. We enjoyed a Polynesian dance show and thought this a great bonus...

Room Tip: Spend the extra money on a Cottage over the water.

Pluses:
Great lagoonarium and infinity pool
Gym was surprisingly nice/new/clean
Tahitian Show
Reasonable daily Internet/water/movie rate of 1100 xpf
Concierge was very helpful and friendly

Minuses:
Rooms are dated
Tahitian buffet was not worth $120
Reception felt impersonal since so many guests stay one night on the way to Moorea or Bora Bora

Stayed for two nights at the end of our cruise. We had a large room overlooking a swimming pool and the sea - perfect. A short distance from main pool and lagoon area, very quiet the room was large with great bathroom with all the facilities you could need. We enjoyed a Polynesian dance show and thought this a great bonus whilst we had dinner. The lagoon was amazing, swimming with fish and coral in the safety of an enclosed area. We had booked on a b & b basis but the hotel had us on room only, this took many hours to resolve and we felt it could have been handled better. Asked to see inside an over water bungalow, very similar in design to our room with wow view but as it was raining declined to upgrade.

Room Tip: If you not mind a short walk then one of the blocks away from the main reception area, the water bun...
