“Great location and very friendly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

We could not believe our eyes when we saw our room - a family-sized apartment with kitchen unit, table inside and outside on the private terrace - all just for the 2 of us! The views of the bay from our terrace were incredible and the room was furnished with love - we loved the stone bed (comfy!). Breakfast is very individual - homemade and traditional (though we would have probably preferred some toast and an egg and some fruit instead of the exclusively fried doughy breakfast). Great location also to explore the area from. Would definitely stay here again!

If a bustling town and exciting night life is your thing, this is not the place to stay. However, if you want to stay in a gorgeous room in a gorgeous location, then seriously consider staying here. We stayed in the 3rd floor suite...it was attractively decorated, extremely roomy and had a wonderful view. The breakfasts here were the best of the three places we stayed in the Peloponnese (and while I am told that Greek accommodations are not generally noted for their breakfasts, we had some very good ones). Maria was very kind and welcoming, and took us on a tour of the fairly extensive farm they are carving out of the neighboring hillside.

Karovastasi is a tiny little town that had one functioning taverna when we were there, but others are available via an easy drive to Neo Itylo or Limeni. The location is perfect for accessing both the upper and lower Mani peninsula, and the setting is gorgeous.

We stayed in one of the 2 suites during October 2011. The location is pretty, next to the sea, suites are on the 2nd floor with nice view over the sea and mountains. The Hotels location (Karavostasi) is not that pretty, you will need a car to drive around the Mani greater area. The bebble beach in front of the hotel is small, "not suited" for children, but... the owners offer canoe and other Summer sports for them to keep them happy and busy.
Now, why ranked as excellent... Although the price is "fair" (no bargain here), the hotel owners are probably the most welcoming people in Peloponese. They will make you feel at home and even more and so the minor problems that might arise will have small impact on your vacation. The breakfast is every day something new, fresh and tasty, the room is cleaned daily and so it smells and feels like the first day you arrived. The "sleep quality" is great, fireplace for cold nights available.
I assume that during peak season (August?), there will be some issues like more noise, more mosquitos, longer breakfast waiting times (it's fresh made remember?) but all in all I think it is a unique experience.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our five days in the Elixirion at the end of October 2011. The very superior rooms have a small kitchenette and good shower room, there is a very comfortable (although very high!) bed and a big comfy sofa, tables, chairs, television etc. There is efficient heating and air-conditioning.It is situated within metres of the sea in a secluded bay in a charming small fishing village and less than 100 m from a charming taverna ('Pharos')where we enjoyed a very warm welcome and good value seafood. We made several good friends very easily; some locals and several very welcoming people from the Netherlands who have made this their second home. Maria Sotorakis, our hostess, was very friendly and welcoming, speaks good English, and cooks the most amazing breakfasts, every one different with very original dishes and lots of fresh local food. The whole place is decorated with art and objects she has found, bought or made and is resonant with her own individual and remarkable taste. Really, it was a unique discovery, and one we would like to return to. The views are amazing, and in season the swimming would be good. The rooms we stayed in were not cheap, but really were good value for this eclectic experience.

I went in august it was very romantic. The rooms where incredible. Very clean. Sea view. The paintings of the hostess in the rooms gave them a warm touch. Very kind and helpful people. Really there no words to describe how calm and beautiful it was. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had, all fresh and every day something different. Family atmosphere. I don’t have anything negative to say for the rooms or the people. The service was flawless. The only thing I could warn you is that if you go there and I strongly recommend it don’t go for food at the fish tavern nearby. They are very expensive and with bad quality.
