I went to Astillero Avencio on a mid-week lunchtime as the reviews on Tripadvisor were so good, and I am pleased to report that they are all true and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it! The restaurant is on a small paseo at the northern end of the town centre, overlooking the town harbour, with some tables having views directly onto the sea. The menu is extensive, and includes some excellent local wines. I had a wonderful lunchtime meal of generous portions of extremely fresh and well-cooked seafood. The extras - the bread, mojos, etc - were also very fresh and very good quality; the quality even extends to the tableware, linen, etc. For Tenerife - which is pricier than mainland Spain - I thought it was excellent value for money.
The service in the restaurant was lovely: I often have to travel alone & can be made to feel rushed or slightly uneasy because I'm taking up a whole table on my own, especially if the restaurant is busy, but this was absolutely not the case at this restaurant. Even though it was a busy lunchtime the waiters took their time to make sure I was happy with my food and to have a chat. This was much appreciated and added to my enjoyment of the meal. They even gave me some fresh local flowers as I left!
My only disappointment was that on my return for another culinary delight I discovered the restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings and all day on Mondays!
GOOD TIP: the restaurant only has 12-15 covers so make sure to book ahead at weekends and national/local holidays.
