“Avoid this place at all cost”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Nature in this zone is amazing, you can hear birds, waterfalls, insects... but not if you stay at BALDI! Extremely loud music, won't let you relax. Staff is rude, far away from the typical costarican hospitality. Forget about eating, prices are high and food is poor, service is the worst part, we had to wait for 30 mins for a coffee while employees were still brooming the floor around the place. Expect an unprofessional staff, that play games among each other instead of doing their job. Pools: Don`t expect nice design, place is a big statue to BAD TASTE: every pool is a wet bar or is two steps next to it!

me and my friend stayed this hotel one night and we enjoyed every minute.
the hotel has beautiful hot springs, a lot of different pools of different sizes and some have a bar on the water. very nice. also has cool water slides.
We did not do anything except be in the hot springs all day, it was very fun. and it has even pools open at night.
the room was amazing, large spacious room that has it all. big bad and mini bar and a nice balcony.
the service is relly great! the staff are very nice. they help us with some problems. the reservation includes breakfast. Although the food is not so great.. But it does not matter because everything else is Excellent!
the location is ok, 5-10 minutes drive to the center.
I recommend this successful hotel, this is a beautiful and fun experience.

There are numerous hot springs to visit at La Fortuna. I would not go there again due to their exceptionally poorly trained and rude staff. They consistently played games on hotel services stating one price in USD and then asking a much higher price when paying in the official Costa Rican currency.

If you want to spend a day in the hot springs enjoy with your family and friends it is a great place, rates are not bad, could be quite expensive if you are going to drink or eat something else a part of the lunch that is included in the one day tour rate. But you can have a great time for rest in the pools, the sauna.
Food is very good too.

We did not stay in the hotel but went for the spa and dinner as part of a tour. The spa consists of about a dozen pools of various temperatures fed by a hot sprint. The pools are very nicely landscaped and some have waterfalls. There is a swim up bar. There was very loud music around several of the pools. They charge an exhorbitant US$6 for a locker and there is no refund when you return the key. A towel requires a UD$10 refundable deposit. The pools were not crowded on a Friday night.

The dinner was not good at all. The buffet was very large but the food was not good. For example, the tortillas in what I think were chiliquiles were stale. The cheese for the do it yourself pasta was so salty it rendered the food inedible. The meat was very tough and the chocolate mouse tasted like it was made in a chemical factory.

Baldi was the least expensive spa experience. I would go back for the pools, but not for the food.

We had a room for 3 nights with a cot for 3 adults. The cotwas a thin mattress on the floor with a pillow and 2 sheets that did not even fit the bed. The entire experience was a nightmare. The food was overpriced, bus loads of tourists were dropped off for a day pass. The staff did not try to help us at all as we wanted to cancel after the first night. We found a gorgeous hotel across the street for less $ and numerous benefits called the Royal Carina. They would not refund even 1 night if we stayed 1 and gave them one night's fee and they could have likely filled the room as it was spring break and they claimed they were full. The negatives go on and on.

Room Tip: dont stay there

The rooms looked like they haven' t been updated since the 70's. they are dark and the bathroom smells like sewage. Busses of tourist arrive daily to use the pools. They are greeted by irritating music that blasts into the night. The pools are crowded. But the coup de gras is the staff could care less about you safety and comfort. We had an accident outside the hotel and waited 3 hours for the police. In spite of the fact many employees were among the onlookers not one asked if we were OK or offered us water or ice for our bumps and bruises. Albeit breakfast is included the other food is extremely costly and barely edible. I hope you are getting the picture.
