Perfect place for walkers. Nice comfortable rooms, superb customer service, excellent food and very reasonable price. Very nice indeed. Hosts were very friendly, very helpful and ready to please their customers. The room was good, and the views stunning. I would certainly recommend it

I chose Keld Lodge for the inaugural Wild Rambling holiday mainly because of the practicality of the location and the number of ensuite rooms so I was totally thrilled to discover it really is an absolute gem. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable and the public rooms very cosy, the food is wonderful (especially the breakfasts) and the views are amazing. But what makes this place so very special are the hosts, Nick and Karen, who could not be more friendly and welcoming - there wasn't anything that was too much trouble for them. I can't wait to book the next holiday here!

This is just the place for walkers, situated where the Coast to Coast crosses the Pennine Way.Keld Lodge was once the Youth Hostel and has been very tastefully converted to a smart inn.
Arriving after a longish day,we received a warm welcome form Nick our host, who made it clear that looking after customers was a top priority.
Our bags were whisked to our room, which was warm and very comfortable, with great views across the valley.
Food was delicious, the ale cellar cooled and the red wine at room temperature. What more could weary walkers want?
The sign over the front door is true-"A warm welcome to all"
Strongly recommended for anyone seeking first class reasonably priced accommodation - thanks Nick.

On the second leg of the Pennine Way my walking friend had the foresight and good fortune to book into the Keld Lodge in Swaledale. Following a 15 mile and damp walk we arrived, not in the best condition, but were welcomed very warmly by the owner, Nick Granvill. Nick was the perfect host personified. This is so important. Following the welcome nothing was too much trouble for Nick. The drying room was expansive and efficient. Our evening meal, served by Nick, was excellent. Red wine was carefully presented at room temperature. Everything stated on the web site is to be believed.
We continued our walk the following morning, knowing the Keld Lodge was a jewel of an experience on our route.

Being a slow walker really was pleased to get here, food was good, room adequate, not flash but certainly comfortable. Really professionally run, which was a nice change from a couple of the grandma and grandpa run b&b's we stayed in. Breakfast at 7.30 not the 8.00 that most have which is too late to get going.

In mid September 6 wow women (women only walking) stayed at Keld Lodge on day 2 of our 4 day walk. Nick and Karen were our saviours. We had got lost and Nick was out looking for us realising we were very late. He drove us back , Karen showed us to the drying room, we were soaked, thank goodness for that! The bedrooms were warm, modern and very comfortable and the showers HOT. We used The Herriots Way book by Norman Scholes. The directions are not detailed, difficult to follow and in places misleading. They had had people before who had used this book and had also got lost. My advice would be deffinately don't use it in inclement weather it would be seriously dangerous.
We had a fabulous meal ( they had kept the chef back for us) beautifully cooked.
We cannot thank Nick and Karen enough for their support, they even took us through the book and map to help us understand where we had gone wrong.
We would wholeheartedly recommend Keld Lodge to all for both the rooms and the food.

My husband and I stayed here as part of our Coast to Coast. We were warmly greeted on arrival after a soggy days march across nine-standards rigg. Nick and Karen were a pleasure to talk to and clearly know what you need after a good day of walking. Fantastic little snug to curl up in and have a pint (coffee or beer) and chat to fellow residents. Good selection of drinks and super, help-yourself breakfast. Janet the waitress was a star! Room extremely comfortable and excellent drying room. Many, many thanks.
