“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

A wonderful place to stay for anyone visiting Glaisdale. Jeanne and her husband are kind, accommodating and welcoming hosts (they even gave me four free batteries for my camera!!), rooms are modern, bright and beautifully clean and comfortable, and the breakfasts are wonderful. There is a lovely sunny conservatory at breakfast time, and even a print-out of that days weather forecast for guests. This is just one of the many little touches that showed that my hosts had thought of everything. Great value for money, really near the excellent local pub for an evening meal, and lovely to have the historical bridge literally on the doorstep. I turned up soaking wet and muddy and this stay was the perfect antidote to a tough day on the trail. Thank you again to my hosts.

This B&B is perfectly situated on the Coast to Coast walk. It is set in a lovely location - opposite the romantic Begars Bridge. in Glaisdale. It is just a few minutes walk away from the local pub where an array of excellent dishes are on offer.

Upon arrival at the B&B we were met by Jeanne, the really friendly landlady who showed us to our room and then provided us with cream teas in the conservatory.

The room consisted of 2 single beds with a large bathroom - bath and shower.

An excellent breakfast was provided on the morning, which we pre-ordered upon arrival the day before.

We picked up the start of the last bit of the Coast to Coast walk, just literally over the road.

Would definitely stay again.

We were welcomed after a tough day with tea and toasted teacakes,(really helps to relax the muscles) Our host was friendly but not over-intrusive. Both rooms were light, airy, clean and very comfortable. We ate decent food at the Arncliffe Arms-it was great to see lots of fellow walkers telling their tales and looking forward to the end of the Coast to Coast.
Breakfast was served in the conservatory, where there was a lovely view; birds feeding, Beggars Bridge and the woods. (Note:It is near a station but I didn't hear any trains) I definitely recommend this B&B.

We were coming to the end of our Coast to coast walk when we arrived at this fantastic B&B. Wished we had more time to relax there as the weather when we arrived was wonderful and children were playing in the river. It was all very idyllic and one of the warmest welcomes awaited us with tea, biscuits and teacakes under the umbrella in the garden.

Our room was bright, clean and spacious with a large ensuite including a bath. We ate at the Arncliffe Arms which is very close and here also we received a nice welcome, the food was ok.

Breakfast at the B&B was served as early as requested to allow for the long days walk ahead. This really was a place we could have stayed at for a few extra days and we would recommend this place to anyone.

Our group comprised of two couples, undertaking the Coast to Coast East to West, independantly with additional travel afterwards. This review comes after five weeks in varied accommodation in the UK. Unanimously voted one of the Best by all four in the party. Genuine warm, welcome after a long walk from coastal Boggle Hole, served with toasted tea buns, tea and coffee which was most welcome as we had carried our own packs. Our upstairs rooms light and spacious, lovely decor and spotless ensuite large bathroom. Sunny, pleasant conservatory where a beautifully laid breakfast table was presented both days. Fruit, yoghurt, fruit compote, cereals, eggs done every way, full English breakfast cooked to perfection. Rather than rush our long distance walk our additional day in Glaisdale enabled us to walk around the area taking in the railway and Heartbeak TV series connections.

Room Tip: perfect stay in all rooms
