Very modern and VERY clean. Built on the side of the mountain, the view is spectacular. The upper pool was like an oasis, and the staff was fantastic. YOU MUST GO

Extremely rough around the edges. We were originally excited to go. All the reviews on TripAdvisor lead us to believe this hotel was great! It must have gone downhill A LOT since last year. This hotel was disgusting, and insulting. We were on our honeymoon. We had upgraded our trip to allow us to stay in the best hotels our tour group had to offer (all of our other hotels were great). Once getting our room at Ios Palace, we were absolutely disgusted. This TINY room had a dirty bathroom and smelt disgusting. We then paid EXTRA to get upgraded to a room that was not much better. Staff was rude and unhelpful. Would NOT recommend this hotel. There must be something better on the island!! Look around!! DO NOT STAY HERE! Overall, the island itself is good. Not much to do, but quaint.

We (a married couple in our late 20s) arrived on Ios expecting that the hotel and community may not be up to the standards set on some of the other, more popular islands. Even so, we were disappointed and, eventually, disgusted by what the Ios Palace offered. The hotel staff failed to pick us up from the ferry in spite of prior arrangements. They came only after 2 phone calls and a 45-minute wait. We arrived to find that we'd been given a dank, humid, cramped room that smelled of sewer and had a dirty, gritty floor. The AC was not working, so we called the front desk, who said they would send someone to repair it. Nearly an hour later, a staff member showed up and managed to get the AC started. Soon after he left, it died again. Getting someone back to the room required another 2 phone calls and nearly a 60-minute wait. When the staff person could not restart the AC, he suggested that we leave our door open to allow the outside air to cool our room (no screen on the door). We requested a new room instead. The front desk staff person appeared quite irritated by this request but eventually moved us to a similar room down the hall (still smelling of sewer and with a dirty floor).

The hotel overlooks Mylopotas Beach. If you are seeking some peace and quiet, this is not the hotel for you, as the beach is active with loud vacationing college students all hours of the day and night.

The pool was beautiful, though the salt content of the water was so high that we were unable to tolerate swimming in it.

Unfortunately, Ios Palace has a reputation as the best hotel on the island. If that is true, we will not be returning to Ios anytime soon.
