“Beautiful Apanemo!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

This is a lovely hotel with amazing views! We stayed here last July and had an amazing time! We stayed here first for 3 nights and then in Imerovigli for 4 nights so we had best of both worlds. Santorini is absolutely stunning and this hotel offers the magnificent view along with the traditional Greek accomadation at a great price. Stay in a superior suite if you can it has the best views of the caldera and are better rooms (in my opinion) We stayed in Room 21. I booked for my parents to stay here also and Spiros really looked after them on their stay in May this year.
The breakfast is good really enjoyed eating it in the breakfast room balcony what a view!
We rented a car I would definitely recommend this as Apanemo is a litlle out of the way. You won't get anywhere like this in Santorini for this price with this amazing view.
Spiros recomended Metaxi Mas which is a must if you love Greek Food. This is where the locals go it has a romantic setting in the hills we loved it. Also the restaurant up the top of the hill is really good too.

The Apanemo was perfect for our stay in Santorini. The location is about 15 minutes (by car) outside of Thira so I would recommend renting a car (Spiros will help with this if you would like). My husband emailed back and forth with Spiros with questions we had and he was always very responsive and helpful. Once we arrived the car he booked for us was at the airport.

The hotel has amazing views. We stayed in room 19 and I think it was the best room in the hotel. A little secluded from the other rooms with great views because it is upstairs. The room was very big with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was large with a tub/shower combo. The tub was large and good for soaking. The pool was a bit cold but when spending the day at the pool it got hot enough that both my husband and I got in without issues during the day.

There is a bar that you can get drinks from until 11pm, try some of Grandpa's wine! The family was very friendly and helpful during our stay. Spiros's mother makes a daily breakfast special, donuts, coffee cake or similar, all very good. Then there is a spread with cereal, coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs, & toast. Donut day was our favorite but all the homemade goodies were fabulous and the other items made for a well rounded breakfast.

We would definitely stay here again if we return to Santorini.

First of all, I would like to say that the below is positive feedback for the family that owns the hotel. They have a rough diamond that they can turn into a very shinny brilliant, if they want to and if they work on it, very hard, every day!

Things that we have liked: 1. the location, away from all the hustle, close to the beaches; 2. the friendly and helpful owner, who recommended us a fabulous restaurant in Thira, carried our luggage, got the beach towels, etc; 3. the external lay-out and the position of the hotel on the caldera, with a nice design and a nice swimming pool; 4. The bed was very comfortable to sleep

Things that we thing could be different and we cared for them: 1. the breakfast could have a richer feel and appeal. The food was of good quality but the display clearly needs some improvement; 2. also at breakfast take care with the people that is around serving and removing the plates. One of the days we had the owner's father and honestly, it is a bit depressive first thing in the morning to see him around. There were employees at the hotel, they could do the job properly, with some training, for sure. Same thing with the owners kids. It is better if they are not around as this is not a home, but a hotel; 3. the temperature of the swimming pool was extremely cold

Things that could be different and we did not care: 1. the decoration of the room could be quite improved, with a minimum amount of money being spent. There is a "décalage" between the external look and the inside of the rooms; 2. the bathrooms also could be improved. They were clean and functional, the shower had a good pressure and hot water, but somehow they were a bit run-down.

Overall, good value for what we paid. We feel that we could pay 20 to 30 euros more per night (or more) if that would mean a nicer room, a nicer bathroom and better breakfast. The family uses the hotel as their house and that also would have to change if they want the place to be more profitable.

Lovely, family run small resort style hotel. It is very isolated with a hearty 15 minute walk up and down steep pathways to the main town or half an hour to the ancient ruins. You've *really* got to be fairly fit or hire a scooter or quad bike from town. We chose to use it as an opportunity to burn off all of the Greek delicacies! The pool and common outdoor area is as beautiful as it looks in the website photos. The rooms are spacious, very clean and beautiful. Clean, modern en suite. Buffet breakfast is simple but delicious - including home made "milk pie" by the owner's mother - yum. Great spot if you want to experience a more authentic island holiday away from the tourist crowds.

The hotel was fantastic, the rooms were quite new, clean and modern, even though in the traditional Santorini style. Perfect for a romantic style holiday, buy some local wine and cheese and sit on the balcony and relax whilst taking in the amazing view. The only downside is that there are not many nice restaurants nearby, and so you really need to drive out to dinner, a bit of a problem if you Ike a bottle of wine with your meal. Breakfasts provided at the motel were really good and staff very pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: The hotel is near the road, although there is very effective double glazing, if you like to enjoy th...

Our only disappointment was that we had to come home!! We have just returned from a 4 day stay at Apanemo and really can't fault it. The views from around the whole hotel are truly amazing, we could not spot a room that had a bad view, either to the North of the Caldera or the sea to the South.
The room was very spacious, included a kitchenette and fridge which was ideal for keeping drinks and snacks in from the local supermarkets. The bathroom was spotless and spacious. It was lovely to have a private terrace which was bathed in sunshine all morning, and overlooked part of the Caldera and the sea to the South.
Breakfast was good with different homemade pastries every day. There was also bread, cheeses, cold meats, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, cereals and juices.
The infinity pool was lovely to dip into while sunbathing, a lovely and refreshing temperature - perfect! (Especially in the evening after a walk up the hill from the village of Akrotiri ). The smallest part of the pool is also a jacuzzi - don't miss the button on the floor to turn it on! There were plenty of sunbeds at any time during the day, and parking was not a problem and we definitely recommend you hire a car for your stay to get around all the island has to offer.
Spiros the owner was always helpful and available, with many recommendations for tavernas and things to do and also very obligingly allowed us to check-out late on our last day for our evening flight.
We thought the price was reasonable and we would have no qualms about returning to Apanemo on our next visit to Santorini, we're already looking forward to it!

Truly enjoyed our stay here.We were part of a large party.. all the rooms were clean, the value was great, and the panoramic views are really unique. We booked quads via the hotel and they were delivered to us. We travelled to the lighthouse and red beach easily and had some of our best meals closeby in Akrotiri. Spiros was exceptionally patient and helpful with all my e-mails before our stay and the good service continued throughout the week. Finally, it is a quiet town, a little windy (welcomed by day) and I would recommend that you have transport (a quad bike for 20e a day is perfect) but so so worth a stay.

Room Tip: I saw many of the rooms and they all had exceptional views.. I dont think any would disappoint.
