I have just returned, along with my two teenage children (16 and 13) from a 10 day break to the Delta Hotel.
Firstly don't even bother going if you have teenagers. The hotel is more suited to young children and families. Although the hotel boasts a nightclub, it has actually been closed for two years. The hotel is isolated, although it's a short journey into Arenal, which is very lively.
The food was ok, typical All Inclusive.......but we did a lot of queueing, and by the time you have everything on your plate and sat down, it had gone cold, and the "outdoor" dining area shown on all of the websites was nowhere to be found.
Both pools are very shaded, especially the lower pool, surrounded by very tall trees and do not get a lot of sun.
The pictures on the web pages of the lovely pool overlooking the sea, with the lovely sunbeds and parasols are actually not situated at the hotel. They are taken from the Beach Club (about 10 mins free bus journey away). It will also cost you 7.50 euros each per day to use the beach club. This gets you a sun bed, towel, brolly and one free drink. Drinks and food have to be paid for. we ate there once, ordered two salads and some fries and it came to 38 euros....no drinks!!!! However it is very beautiful and very 5 star....unlike the Delta.
Reception staff at the hotel are lovely and very helpful. Bar staff, especially the pool bar staff are awful, rude and hostile. We felt very guilty if we went to the bar a few times.
Overall I think the websites (all of them) are very misleading. I wouldn't go back even without the teenagers.
