“great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

just had a 3 night stay at this B&B, lovely friendly hosts, bedrooms spacious and a comfy bed. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast plentiful, fruit, yoghurt, cereal AND a full english!
Yes, there was some road noise but after a busy day visiting all the interesting places Dorchester has to offer (Thomas Hardy country to name one) we hardly noticed it!
Also, as its B&B the Saxon Arms down the road in a little village named Stratton provided fabulous food for our evening meal.
Would definitely recommend Royal Yeoman!

What a gem, out in the countryside but near enough to coast and Dorchester for visits out and about. Two of the friendliest and accomodating patrons you could wish to meet. The room was first rate very clean with top facilities. We had one of the cheepest rooms and it was large and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was the best I have had in any hotel or B & B. Would recomend to all for any type of stay.

We stayed this time in the Caravan / Motorhome part of the hotel as we now have a motor home, stayed 2 nights. Free Electric hook up for our MH & use of a lovely shower room/ toilet block situated at the front of the B&B
We have stayed inside the B&B itself before too, which has totaly beautiful spacious rooms.
Sue & Garry are very good hosts & gave us good info about the local area, directed us to a lovely local beach, about 20mins drive away. Nothing is too much trouble for these hosts.
We ate a full cooked breakfast in their B&B dining room, which is available at an extra charge & worth every penny, huge choice of cereals, juices & fresh fruit, yoghart etc etc
The gardens are well kept & there is a lovely picnic area in the grounds, a stream with ducks & fabulous views, it is totally beautiful.
Free Wi Fi too & as they have a huge car park you don't have to check out early on day of departure you can stay later & pull up in the car park off the field.

We just spent one night here on our way back home from Cornwall. We booked a superior room which was wonderful. It overlooked the garden and had a small outside seating area. The rooms are beautifully furnished with lots of nice extras - toiletries and also tea/coffee/hot chocloate. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. They also have pitches in the garden for tents and campervans with use of a shower room. We ate at the Saxon Arms, which has a lovely ambience and friendly staff but the food was nothing out of the ordinary. However, the breakfast at the Royal Yeoman was one of the best I've had in ages and we would definately return if passing through again.

Room Tip: Superior room worth the extra money

The Royal yeoman B & B is a refurbished pub close to Dorchester. Our hostess couldn't have been more hospitable and kindly upgrraded us. The bed was wonderful, bathroom excellent and the whole property has been done up very nicely. Breakfast was good and we were generally delighted with our stay. On a slightly busy road but probably the best value we have encountered in the UK

Absolutely fabulous B&B situated a few miles out of Dorchester. We had a premium room at trhe back overlooking ther Garden and stream. Fabulous large bed and magnificaent furniture. Hosts extremely pleasant and very willing to help with our early breakfast requirements. No restaurant on-site but we can highly recommend The Saxon Arms only a mile down the road (hint - book first - was VERY busy the weekend we were there but they fitted us in the bar which was fine, and the food excellent).

All-in-all a completely positive experience and would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to others.

Room Tip: Go for it - you won't be disappointed!
