“Perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

Samui beach resort is on south Lamai beach. It is expensive to get here from airport/port. 800 baht. But if u can get one of the red trucks it's cheaper as u can haggle but no public buses or shuttles. The pictures on the website are exactly what this place looks like. It's heaven. The pool is lovely and cold really refreshing for dipping into while sunbaking. It's quiet here and while there are other backpackers here they don't really mix. This place is lovely for chilling for a few days relaxation before or after full moon party on Koh Phangan. Room with a/c tv and fridge with ensuite costs us 700Baht/ £14.50 per night excellent value! Lamai village is about 10/15minutes walk from samui resort, but there is no reason to really leave this place if u dont want to they have a bar/restaurant/laundry service and 7-11 shop right outside. The food was gorgeous. Only thing I wouldn't get again is eggs, but that is in all of south east asia they seem to not cook them quiet as thoroughly as I would. But can def recommend the thai favourites and sandwiches, pancakes, and burgers were all good. I would defintely go back!

Room Tip: splash out for extra £2 per room and get an a/c, tv, fridge & ensuite.

Samui Beach Resort was a very nice stay. The staff were always very friendly and helpful to us. The pool is not the biggest but is fine and is made up for with its view of the sea. The rooms are pretty basic but with a good tv and fridge. They were very relaxed about how long we wanted to stay for and didnt mind as adding on additional nights on the day we were supposed to be checking out!

In terms of location you ae a bit out of lamii so renting a scooter (Available at SBR) is a good way to see different things if you are staying more than a couple of nights. However there are a few nice resturants and the obligatory 7-11 and family mart at the bottom of the road!

All I can say about this is..don't stay. The hotel facilities are very poor, the rooms, at least the one we stayed was far behind a low standard. Although on the web it says wifi complimentary in all rooms, we didn't had in ours. Having complaining at the front desk the lady suggest it was a problem with our laptop. Our shower would work only when it wanted and even thou our room had no air con.which was our fault because we booked the wrong one, there is only one small fan at the wall which is not enough for the room. The path between the hotel entrance and the rooms is full of bushes and is dark. We were almost bitten by a snake, which we understand is not the hotels fault having snakes in tropical country, but if the path was clean and bright we could have seen it before almost stepping on it.
The hotel is a 10 min walk from Lamai centre however you have to go through a busy road which I would recommend at all during the night, specially if you are with kids.
Really, stay somewhere else. There is a lot of hotel with a similar price, maybe a bit more, but far more better than this one.

Generally clean and nice, but a little expensive. It's okay. There are many similar places. Thailand is a little too crowded and poluted though.

This place is owner by a couple of Dutch people.

Couple of different types of rooms available from about 800 baht for fan room. Some of the rooms are more modern and have A/c for about 1400 or 1600 per night low season.

Overall I enjoyed my time here pretty clean and near nice beach. Lovely walk across the beach to the pubs in the evenings which is class especially when you have a full moon.

Food decent. Beer not the cheapest. Couple of shops nearby and restaurants. Also very cloes to Granny & grandfather rocks.

You can hire a scooter at reception which is a pretty goods service as they are not looking to rip you off like many of the Thai's.

Fresh clean towels available daily for use for the pool and beach which is a nice touch. Most of the staff live on the resort and they are pretty friendly and laid back.

Dont trust alot of local Thai people. They will tell you what you want to hear and try to rip you off. The police are gangsters so if you have any troubles you should only deal with the Tourist police who are only available in bigger resorts like Chaweng.

I would return to Lamai.

Room Tip: If you want a little more comfort especially if travelling as couple etc go for room with A/c as the...

If it wasn't for the awful towel/restaurant lady I would give this hotel a better review... But because she is so arrogant I feel like saying she really makes it worth to look somewhere else. The lady at main reception is absolutely the opposite, nice an helpful. The double rooms with fan are very basic but just a few steps from the pool and the beach. Seriously, the awful lady is the only real let down of this place.
