“Great Thai buffet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

We live no so far from Rocky resort so the location is very convenience. The Thai food here is very good. I love Yam Goong Foo (spicy prawn salad). The ambiance is very nice. The staff is very good and friendly. And now they have Thai buffet every tuesday night which was fantastic. They use a quality produce and the taste is authentic so i definitely recommend this place.

Oh one last thing they also got a classical Thai dance if you look for a dinner with a show ;-)

“Oh dear what happened ???”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

Usually each time we have visited the bistro and watched the Katoy show we have had a fabulous time. This time however, oh dear! Instead of the unreal buffet we had a choice of a 5 course degustation which for the price didn't really appeal. Then the other choice of salad bar and BBQ.
The food was cold, tough and very unappetising. The Katoy Cabernet was the only saving grace
I have to say we were embarrassed that our friends had to eat this terrible food and pay for it!
Next time we will visit only for the cabaret and nothing else unless they revert back to the buffet.

“Overpriced and stuffy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

Came here via trip advisor reviews, expecting amazing cuisine. Arrived on buffet night which had good entertainment but the food and atmosphere let the evening down.

The buffet was well stocked with a variety of dishes. The starters were plentiful and had several veggie options but dishes were infrequently replaced - satay skewers were dried out under a heating lamp and at busy periods of the evening some dishes ran out.

Mains were plentiful, duck, chicken, beef, pork, fish and shell fish and one veggie main from memory. Most were cold when I ate them, none were the best Thai food I had ever eaten, taking nothing away from my girlfriend, she's made much better Thai food with UK ingredients. As you'd expect from a buffet, less care and attention is made to an individual dish - its mass produced and not to order. The fragrance I'd expect from Thai cuisine was sadly lacking and the rice was drying out.

The deserts were interesting but none live in the memory as stand out

The cost was excessive for a buffet, the alcohol was reasonably to expensively priced and the bottled water was extortionate.

The setting was beautiful but all class was lost by the hordes of queuers who doddered, picked, poked and pushed the food removing any semblance of presentation.

There are better eateries nearby where the Thai culinary experience is far superior

“Overpriced and not a genuine experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

We turned up here as we were passing and had read about it in Lonley planet and trip advisor. There was a sign for a restaurant and one for bistro. Since we were dressed very casually and the place looked pretty smart we opted for the bistro, which I think was where we intended to get to? It was still pretty posh looking but no one batted an eyelid at our shorts and sandals. We didn't investigate the restaurant but perhaps it was for hotel guests? Therefore assume the bistro is called the 'dining room' as others also refer to the Thai dancing and buffet...

It turned out to be buffet night with live Thai music and dancing. The place felt magical with lanterns and candles everywhere. The feel of a saga holiday knocked off any romance though. Not that I have a problem with mixing with an older crowd - it was just all rather formal and organised and full of western people who have 'made it' in life. As a result felt like we could have been home rather than getting a genuine Thai experience.

So we decided to have the buffet (though were offered a la carte) and the food was nice, though not spectacular. Certainly lots of options but some was cold, and people lining up with plates gave it bit of a school dinners feel.

The service was efficient and polite but not very personal.

I could have put up with that and enjoyed it all for a decent price, however with 2 cocktails (about £6 each) a bottle of water and the 2 buffets it totalled about £80. Although we figured it would be fairly pricy, this was was unjustifiable for the quality of food provided. In fact I don't think any food in Thailand is justifiable at that price!!

We found the food at Kob Thai to be much better value in a much more relaxed environment.

It was a pleasant evening but I think we will have more fun tasting things in the markets, and for sure at a much better price.

My advice is - if you have money to burn, get out the hotel and find a more genuine experience - you'll have much more fun :-) - try it if you're really keen to. If you don't have money to burn, it's not worth forking out for.

“Wonderful Evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

We started our evening round the pool bar having cocktails and canapes. Then on to the Bistro for dinner which was excellent. We were a large party and the staff and management took very good care of us. Great evening thank you.
