“Excellent food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Loved the food here and a fraction of the price you would pay back home, should have a Michelin star

“Simply The Best Restaurant in Koi Samui”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We ate at the dining room for three nights during our 6 day stay at Koi Samui, the food was simply delicious. Its set at the Rocky's resort which is simply beautiful, if you can afford it then stay at the resort and use the restaurant at least 50% of the time, thats what we did. A good bit of advice is to book in advance and ask for a seafront table, these are amazing but always fully booked so book up as early as possible.

Our main evening was when we choose from the a la carte menu, there were three different choices, a 5 course set menu at 1490 baht, a 7 course set menu at 1690 baht or the main menu which had a variety of starters, mains and desserts, we went for the main menu.

The restaurant manager, a french chap called Julien was was very attentive and showed a great knowledge of both the food and wine, he recommended a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc called Wairau River, at 1900 baht this was quite expensive but was really very nice.

The starters were between 300 and 600 baht, we went for a prawn ravioli with a lobster reduction and white truffle oil, we also ordered a poached fois gras au tourchon.

For main courses we went for a sea bream dish and wagyu beef. There was a variety of other dishes on the menu including Tournados Rossini which I will have next time.

The meal started with a complimentary small dish of savory Italian bread topped with warm tomatoes and cheese plus a mint sorbet on a slice of tomatoe, both were really nice and acted as a very small teaser to what was to become a perfect evening.

The starters came, the prawn ravioli was three small pasta parcels with prawns inside, the sauce on top of it was amazing. The foie gras dish was just perfect and served with a toasted brioche, delicious.

In between the starter and main course was a delightful apple and calvados sorbet which really refreshed the palet for the main course.

The main courses arrived, the sea bream was amazing, one large fillet on a bed of mashed potatoe with oysters and mixed vegetables, wonderful. The Wagyu of beef was also excellent and just melteed in the mouth, this was served with potatoes and a mixture of perectly cooked vegetables.

For desserts we saved the best for last, we had a sharing plate of chocolate desserts, a must for lovers of chocolate puddings, the best part of this dish was a warm chocolate sponge with liquid cocolate in its centre, amazing!!

The waitresses were excellent, Milk, L and Kai thank you very much.

The other two nights were themed nights which we thought would be a great experience.

On Sunday night we attended their themed BBQ evening, a massive display of high quality food with a large mixture of starters main courses and desserts, a really good night to go to and inexpensine at around 1500 baht a head. The entertainment was brilliant that evening.

We also went to the Thai night on the Tuesday which had a large variety of thai starters, main courses and desserts, as well as the food there was also an extremely talented group of Thai dancers, another excellent night.

The management and staff at the dining room deserve a big pat on the back, excellent food, ambience and service, thank you chef Azizs and Restaurant Manager Julien.

Comparing this to others on the Island I would say its very similar to the Zazen Restaurant with its service just taking the edge.

“great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

This was a great place to eat and the food was excellent , the tables outside were so good and relaxing . The service was great and friendly . The cost was a little expensive for Thailand , but they cater for tourists.Even though the waiters only get 250baht a day ($9.00) I thought it was overpriced.
