“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Lamai Bay View is a real hidden gem at the most northern end of Lamai Beach. We came across this lovely small bungalow hotel when staying at the Renaissance Hotel just next door which offers the same scenery and beach - just way more expensive. The hotel offers good size bungalows that all sport a spectacular view over the private bay. We had a beach front bungalow and could not ask for a better view. The garden, the private beach, the plants and beautiful flowers made a picture perfect postcard scenery. The bungalows are clean and one of the nicer ones you find in Thailand for that price range (EUR 50 p.n.). The bed was quite old and not too comfy though. The rest was more than fine. Breakfast was also very good and gets served on a stunning terrace overlooking the infinity pool and beach. You can see over whole Lamai Bay from there. Swimming in the sea is not always that good due to low tide but to hang out and have a quick dip it is more than enough plus the relaxing atmosphere and view will compensate for everything. They also have a little Thai Massage hut right at the beach which I can only highly recommend. When you are looking for a nice relaxing and intimate place to stay with a lovely service, good value for money and off the crowds from Lamai than it is the right place for you. To get into Lamai, you can either walk along the beach or take a songtow. It is just a 7 min ride. I have been to many places in Koh Samui and Thailand in general but Lamai Bay View is definitely an insiders' tip in Koh Samui and we will come back. Thanks for a great time!

Room Tip: We highly recommend to get a spacious beach front bungalow.

Beautiful isolated beach, surprisingly good food with average bungalows.

We really loved how quiet and secluded we felt. We basically had the beach to ourselves, although, as the name entails, it's more like a bay with the water only ever being waist deep. The deeper water is closer to the wild city strips.

To take the hotel taxi to Lamai was 200 baht, but after seeing all the seedy bars and mediocre restaurants, we were happy to come back to the resort and neighboring resorts to eat and relax.

The bungalow is quite minimal and small for two. We got one with AC, which for us was necessary as the days got really hot. We had a little bit of a sewage smell in the sink while we were there too. But we just hung out on the porch and at the beach most of the time anyhow.

We also walked along the beach to check out the other hotels and didn't find anything like this, with bungalows so close to the beach. Overall, loved the area, the food, the staff and the beach but was not so impressed by the bungalows.

Room Tip: Seaview for us only meant a view of the ocean through other bungalows. If you want a real view of th...

Fantastic quiet piece of paradise in Lamai. Rent scooters and tour the entire island from this safe cozy location. Pat and Gung, two sisters do an amazing job insuring that guests are happy. We have stayed here three times and will definitely return. Breakfasts are simple, omelettes, eggs made to order, fresh fruit, breads, etc. The small pool is always sparkling clean and there are six comfy loungers so its like your own private place. Never crowded at this pool or the white soft sandy beach, which has a hammock and kayak available as well.

There are just too many fantastic resturants to start listing them but you must rent a scooter to really enjoy this little Island. It's ten minutes ride to Chawang beach, lots of shopping and many many restaurants and bars. If your into the party scene stay in Chewang. Lamai is the quieter area. Be sure to get a massage just out the driveway on the left about two minute walk.

You can also walk into Lamai town center along the beach in about twenty minutes if you don't want to rent a scooter.

Room Tip: All rooms here have a beautiful sea view, some require steep stairs so request closer to restaurant...

We stayed in a Seaview bungalow for 8 nights. The bungalow was spacious but a bit worn out. The "seaview" was very small and through other bungalows and trees... The resort area and surroundings was nice and quiet. A beautiful small beach but tou can not swim or snorkeling because the water is very shallow - only about 50 cm. You have to walk about 1-2 km. for swimming but beware of sharp stones in the water. Very nice restaurant but much to high prices compared with similar restaurants - and they add 17% extra tax on the prices in the menu (no other restaurants we visisted do this...). Cleaning fine and the same wth the massage at the beach.

I spent 5 days in Lamai Bay View Resort on January 2014. The bungalows are quite small for two but most of them have a spectacular view being in the mountains, with a veranda and chairs to sit and admire the sunset. The breakfast is a buffet which you can take on the terrace face to the sea. The staff is very friendly. The manager is very helpful also. Very quiet area and very good restaurants all around in the city. You can make shopping also. The beach is very small and a lot of rocks in it. To have a nicest beach you have to stay more central.

Room Tip: most of them have sea view.

This hotel is a ten minutes taxi ride from central lamai which is nice but not ideal for those wishing to head there daily. However it is an ideal place to see he bay on nye as i did with all the fireworks. THe staff are incredibly friendly and really good to help. The view are amazing though people wiht walking difficulties may struggle and the rooms are rather small, i could not have stayed more than three days in such a room. THe private beach with massage parlour nad hamocks is really nice though.
