Having stayed on the busy southside of Tenerife for a few days it was lovely to get onto the ferry and arrive on La Gomera. It's pur relaxation from the start. The drive to the hotel is very scenic and then you arrive at this beautifully located cliff hotel.
Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the sea, a fridge and a tea/coffeemaking tray as well as free Wifi in the room added to the comfort. I loved the lockable meshscreen doors, which meant you could leave the balcony doors open.
The setting is wonderful, wonderful gardens and pathways full of flowers, a large freeform pool area at the top with plenty of sunbeds and then the added bonus of a private lift system taking you down to beach level, where you find another freeform pool area with a lovely restaurant and even a minigolf course.
From there you can wander within minutes into Laguna de Santiago, a small village with a port, a few shops, bars and restaurants. A wonderful combination and so chilled and relaxing.
The main restaurant is a bit busy for my taste, but one can 'escape' in finding a table out on the big balcony with amazing sea views or on the courtyard patio. The food is good and as you are on holiday, why not have a glass of sparkling wine for breakfast?
We tried the a la carte options at the Restaurante Club Laurel which was a wonderful experience and well worth the extra.
Of course if you can tear yourself away from the hotel, there is a well known golf course nearby and the whole of La Gomera to explore, either by car, by bus or foot. The hotel organises a walking tour every day. Absolutely stunning and in April full of beautiful spring flowers, too.
I'll be back, that is for sure and longer next time.
Rooms in rows begining with 1 or 3 have lovely sea views.
