we holidayed here for one week in June. It was our first time to Djerba, although we have holidayed in Tunisia several times. On arrival at the airport it did not take long to get through immigration and onto the transfer coach. We travelled with Thomson and there were 2 coaches going to this hotel. On the coach we were given our check in form for the hotel so when we arrived we were shown into the bar for a welcome drink and within minutes we were given our room key. The porters were taking cases to the rooms but we decided to take our own. First impressionns of the hotel were brilliant, everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff very welcoming. We had a ground floor bungalow room which was plenty big enough for the 2 of us, with everything you would need, a kettle, tea and coffee,, sugar etc. The fridge was stocked daily with soft drinks. Milk was not supplied but when we asked at the bar they gave us a cartoon which was more than enough for the week, we also collected water from the bar daily.
The main buffet restaurant served breakfast with everthing you could think of including freshly squeezed juices which in some AI hotels you have to pay for, but not here. Lunch was also served here as well as the 'aroung the world' snack bar by the water park, which is where we ate daily. The food was lovely, with pizza, pasta and different dishes including fish, chicken, vegetables, rice, chips etc. Cake, fruit and ice cream for dessert. Could not fault it, lovely food and very friendly staff. There were 3 a la carte restaurants for the evening, which we did not go to, to be honest there was so much selection in the buffet which was themed each night that we did not feel the need. What we liked mostly was that majority of the food was cooked in front of you, be it fish, chicken, beef so very little left overs heated up which is quite often the case. Desserts were delicious. The local wine was good and most nights the waiter just gave us the bottle so there was no waiting for a top up.
The AI drinks were very good with various cocktails available. A different speciality cocktail was on offer each evening before dinner. Never had to wait too long at the bar and the staff soon got to know what you wanted.
The main pool area appeared to have sufficient sunbeds but to be honest we are more beach people, however we did sit round the pool a couple of late afternoons.
The beach has soft sand with a fair number of sun umbrellas, we never had a problem getting sunbeds or an umbrella. The free banana boat, water skiing and canoe was an added bonus.
There are quite a few camels on the beach with their owners giving camel rides, not sure how much it cost but the owners were not pushy at all and were uite ok about you taking photos. There were also a fair amount of horses, again no problem. A few locals selling their wares but again none of them were pushy unlike some places we have been.
There were plenty of activities during the day, no pressure to join in, but if you like an active holiday you will not be dissappointed. The evening entertainment was in the ampitheatre by the waterpark. Most night this included dancing which was good and some comedy shows. I think the only let down for me was the music and dancing by the pool after the show. The entertainments team did invite people to dance with them but for some reason it did the rest of the guests did not join in, maybe the type of music, I'm not sure.
The area itself is mainly hotels, a few shops but as we were only there for a week we spent most of our time at the hotel.
We loved the hotel, could not fault it, the food, the staff, everything. Would suit young and old alike. The kids club looked brilliant, with an outdoor play area completely in the shade. Will definately be going back.
