“Fantastic Holiday, made by the wonderful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

We have just returned from a wonderful 10 day holiday at Minos Imperial. Whilst its not the British standard of a 5star hotel, we really couldnt complain, as it was the staff at the hotel and the people we met there who made our holiday.
It is an ideal location for a chill out holiday in a beautiful resort, with beautiful surroundings. You really cannot beat waking up to the sound of the waves crashing every morning! There was also a vast choice of pool areas to spend your days relaxing in the sunshine.
We travelled with another couple and upon arrival, we received upgraded sea view rooms and received some upgraded meal evenings. Was a great way to start the holiday!
The choice of food was excellent, however i did think it was a bit much charging 3Euros for Orange juice at breakfast, as we were premium class. The only thing in relation to food that could be improved is that, despite what restaurant you eat at, the food it generally the same. We were expecting a difference in the types of food at each restaurant. That said, the quality of food was great.
We were also not advised that the all inclusive stopped at 11pm, before we travelled. When paying for all inclusive, i expect everything to be available at all times.
We cannot complain about our rooms, they were very clean and we had a large, spacious veranda.
I have to specifically mentioned the bar staff who made our holiday. Ionnais, Leonardo and Osmisios - they took time to get to know us and made us feel welcome all day and night. They really were the best bar staff and deserve recognition. When you travel make sure you check out Ionnais' tropical bar.
Finally, Addy, the lead entertainer alos deserves a mention. He works so hard and is a lovely person. When you travel, ask him to teach you the beat it dance!
Overall we had a fantastic holiday and i wouldnt hesitate going back in the near future!

we come every summer for 8 years in this amazing hotel! But this time we experienced so many changes...new restaurants, bars, beach area completely renovated with cabanas, double beds, full of sand! The new rooms they have are soo nice, with hidden lights, home cinema, trendy bathrooms...make sure to ask for them!!!!The staff is super friendly, the suggested us excellent wines from the new wine list. The best wine we had this year is Vivlia Chora, you shoud try it! The boutique Spa is brand new, very relaxing areas, beautiful colors, and the girls at the spa are very kind and professional! We had dinner in beautiful places with fantastic menus, overlooking the aegean sea...simpy unique!! Thank you all for making our stay soooo relawing and enjoyable, we will see you next year for sure!!!

Room Tip: Diamond class rooms are very big. The new rooms are amazing!!!

After reading all the reviews before we left I was slightly apprehensive, but after my experience i cannot understand the bad reviews and would definitely return to the hotel. Me and my girlfriend recently spent a week at the resort and generally we thought it was fantastic. We found that some aspects of the hotel were rated a 5 star but probably a few were only a 4 star. Firstly the room was absolutely brilliant, we stayed premium all inclusive and had a full sea view over looking the quiet private pool which was nice. we liked that fact that there were always sun beds available regardless of the time of day you went down by the pools. in fact the entire setting of the hotel is fantastic, it really is spacious! We were really impressed by the amount of pools as well as the size of them. we found the food in the other restaurants were excellent, although I would say the main buffet restaurant is more like a normal 4 star buffet but there was still enough to cater for any kind of person. The location is brilliant if you want a relaxing chilled out experience as it in a secluded spot but the nearest village is only a 10 minute walk along the coast. The private beach is also great with plenty of beds, sun on it all day with plenty of water activities jet skis etc if that is your kind of thing. We found the staff in general to be really friendly and helpful. The only major downside we found which is repeating others and mentioning the amount of Russians and how the vast majority didn't seem to understand that it is rude to just push in front of you in queue for food and drink etc. But other than that little moan the hotel is brilliant and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

P.S a message to the hotel, one member of staff made our holiday, it was the pool barman I think his name was Iaonnis or something like that. The man was brilliant serving us drinks on a night time he was always smiling, he made us want to stay outside and stay clear of the grumpy barman on the inside bar. Iaonnis was generally a really nice bloke answering all our queries, couldn't rate him highly enough!!

I intended to send this earlier in June.

We stayed for a week at the Minos Imperial - and the advise is the following.
The pictures on the website are very clever and show great beautiful luxurious resort. (these are the suite rooms and above)

The truth is this is a resort that is stuck back in the 80s (they have video games and entertainment to reflect!!.

Rooms are old, dirty, bathrooms dated, aircon terrible.

The beach, is dirty, you couldn't call it a beach, the water like wise.

We were all inclusive - but still had to pay for Mojitos and Cocktails (9 euro each) and an expected 1 euro tip from the staff.

The food is extremely low level - "fresh orange juice" is squeezed and charged at 3 euro. for breakfast.
The rest of the food pretty bad - there are options for lobster night 49 each per person. or grill by the beach. the fine dining - had fish sticks for goodness sake!! again more cost.

the hotel is situated away from anywhere it takes 15 min's to drive through the terrain, avoiding coaches who narrowly avoid you after dropping the latest Russian holiday makers....

Which leads me to another point, the hotel is predominantly Russian, there is Russian hotel staff - the girl on the front desk was dam right rude on our arrival, checking me in then started dealing with one of her countrymen who started talking in there stern Baltic manner to raise attention. I told her - excuse me you are dealing with myself not him. She said sorry and continued. and I have to say this is the manner of the way they are - at the dinner (buffet) loading plates, pushing past women, women pushing past women, skipping the normal queue.

I don't have many positives about the hotel in fact - it is 1 star, I have stayed in better 2 stars on my travels. I can imagine It was a beautiful hotel 20 years ago - but it has had no investment, understaffed, and the quality certainly is not 5 star.

My only positive is that Maria and Claudia and our bar men were helpful but you can see they are smiling falsely knowing they feel embarrassed to be taking your money of you.

Final note - a local advised they are "paying" people to place positive comments on the hotel.

Do not stay here - if you have standards - food, drink, rude guests ,and no staff.......

The owners should be ashamed to show this as a 5 star resort - I am also writing to the Crete Tourist Board.

The first appearance of the hotel is what you expect when advertised as 4 star. What you do not get is a level of service one would expect. We went all inclusive (diamond). The food is not four star and the service poor because there is not enough staff employed. Where I felt let down was that every single drink I had to go and get my self. This meant every time waiting in a queue and in the evening that could take up to 15 minutes (believe me). The rooms are very good and very clean and all the staff very friendly and helpful. However, the standard of the food is not satisfactory and the need to queue for every single drink spoilt what should have been a wonderful holiday. Also be aware a number of guest are from Russia. They are the most inhospitable people and do not think they have to queue and can be quite unpleasant. Sorry, lovely hotel, nice staff after that it fails badly.

We recently spent a week at the Minos Imperial. The staff were unfailingly pleasant, and as helpful as could be.The food was very good, and thoughtfully presented. The only downside was the vast influx of Russians, who thought that no rules applied to them.Obvious courtesies like dressing appropriately for dinner, not invading allocated quiet areas with hordes of babies and children, and general disregard for other guests pleasure. The staff were very sympathetic, and tried to remedy these discrepancies, but they obviously can't get physical !!! The room and the general facilities were good, and we did enjoy our week. The owner is a very nice, approachable man,who cares very much that your stay there is a happy and pleasant experience, which overall it was.

Room Tip: suites on the corner have more windows,so are therefore sunnier and quieter

"A period of leisure or stay in an location for pleasure" sums it up perfectly.
A remote resort with good quality and excellent service.
Diamond class recommended to overcome some peoples interpretation of all inclusive.
Would suggest you try all the available dinning and drinking experiences, there is something for everyone.
Will be back.

Room Tip: Suites advisable if budget permits.
