“So Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

After a trans-Atlantic flight, the last thing you want to do is get in a car and drive and drive an hour and 45 minutes to a hotel- but... that is exactly what we did! We landed in Milan from Philadelphia and were pretty tired. Sleeping on a plane (for me) seems to happen a couple of hours before landing. Anyhow, we rented a Hertz and forged on. NOW... it was during Thanksgiving vacation sooo not too many Americans and not tourist season.
I can't tell you how happy I was we made this trip when we did. It was just about the most lovely scene imaginable. The hotel doesn't look like much, but once you get inside it becomes all about the view, charm, and the staff.
Naturally, My husband and 8 yr old daughter immediately showered and napped for 2 1/2 hours- the only way for me.
When we woke and walked down the hill into town- there was a precious little town fair happening with all sorts of cheeses to try and jit was just a perfect little intro. After that, we forged back up and had lovely 5 star Michelin Meals each day and night. WOW! This is a perfect spot to see Bra, Barolo, castles, little towns and explore. We visited wineries, went truffle hunting (for, this is the season of white truffles) ---Our truffle guide, Georgio, and his dogs are my heros!! We had a cheese tour, wine tours, a chocolate tour. WoW!! All were perfection.
The hotel is luxurious, the rooms are quite small (intimate) but quiet and very peaceful. You will have everything you need. There is a wonderful breakfast and the bar at night for pre-dinner drinks and snacks was quite lovely.
Enjoy and book this hotel without worries.
After this lovely experience, we drove to Venice airport and took a taxi then a boat to our hotel and it was amazing- no crowds! Loved! Then Milan. Blah. Did not like Milan. Totally polluted air. Duomo was worth it, though.

Hotel Villa Beccaris is a very charming small hotel in the middle of piemonte. It has charming rooms, a nice pool, a quaint little bar and a genuinely friendly staff.
There is parking which is nice and it is a short walk to the center of town to a number of nice bars and restaurants. This is clearly one of the nicer places in the area.
Lastly, the breakfast room has a great view and has a very pleasant "winter garden" feel.

Everything about this place is amazing. The rooms are very large and nicely decorated. One of the highlights of the property is the breakfast spot. It overlooks the piemonte wine region and is breathtaking. I would strongly recommenced this place to anyone.

We enjoyed the Villa a lot, the rooms were decorated in a very elegant way. We had a wonderfull suite ,opening to the garden. The breakfast salon was remarkable with a stunning view, each table placed by window,The service was great also..also the location is great. You can reach very good restaurants by walking or very short driving..We will return for sure for our next Piedmonte trip..

This is our fifth visit to Villa Beccaris, and it won't be the last. As with every other visit everything was spot on. The location is amazing, with at least 6 restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, all serving great local dishes of the region. The hotel facilities are perfect, with an amazing breakfast buffet, and wifi throughout the hotel. Can't wait for our next trip.

This is our second trip to the Villa Beccaris . This time staying in Dimora I Manichi .
It is a really beautiful place, especially if you are interested in wine . Although not staying in the hotel itself this time, we did use the hotel pool and garden whenever we chose . Dimora I Manichi
itself was lovely , beautiful sun terrace , small pool . I asked about having a coffee maker -- within
a short time a brand new coffee maker was delivered ! That is the attitude of all the staff -- they
want your stay to be perfect . Breakfasts here are exceptional , the quality of everything is the best . Try and go when one of the music festivals is on , the staff will give you more information .
Bar Saraca in the village is good fun for wine tasting and eating . We like Grappola D'oro a bar
in the village where moma cooks and the sons run everything else, good basic local dishes and a good atmosphere . there are lots of good places to eat in the area . We hope to return and would probably overall choose the Hotel itself , but either way is good . The views over the vineyards are amazing . This hotel deserves its accolades ....

Room Tip: all the rooms are of a high standard

We initially booked 4 nights at this hotel in the "Le Calle" suite in the Dimora i Manichei (which is a hundred meters' walk from the main villa along a gravel road). Despite the pictures on the website for this room, it was extremely dark and had absolutely no view except onto a construction site next door. In addition, the Dimora i Manichei suites do not have a separate entry area -- each room's door is directly on the street. When we arrived at our room door, 6 local children we installed immediately next to the door, playing music on an iPod. When you were in the room, you could hear the music from the sleeping area. Needless to say, all of this did not meet our expectations and we asked if there were any other rooms available. The only room available was a very small classic room in the villa. We opted for this room, which was very small but at least was in the main villa complex and without local children patrolling the entry door. While we are grateful that the staff was able to accommodate our change, they did not make any accommodation regarding the price of the much smaller classic room, and did not offer us a better room in the villa when it became available.

There are many positive aspects to this hotel -- the villa has beautiful grounds, the breakfast room has an incredible view over the valley down to Barolo and La Morra, there is a gorgeous park through which you can hike, and the staff is very professional and helpful. However, as another reviewer put it, this hotel is not for everyone. It is mostly visited by large British and American tour groups of senior citizens, and there is no restaurant at the hotel, so if you don't want to drive, you are at the mercy of what is available in Monforte d'Alba, which has a couple of fairly good restaurants, but nothing outstanding.

As other reviewers mentioned, the walls of the rooms are very thin, so in our classic room, we could hear folks showering next door. But that is not necessarily something the hotel can easily change. However, there are some easy improvements the hotel could make which would make the experience better: as I mentioned above, the hotel seems to be mostly home to large tour groups, some of whom are staying for many days; we stayed for 4 nights. As such, it would be nice if the breakfast had a bit more variety day to day -- after all, the hotel is in the Langhe, a gourmand's paradise -- surely, you could offer more than one kind of cheese, and maybe change it every couple of days. Also, it would be really nice to have wifi available in more than just one corner of the bar area, e.g. in the rooms. This became extremely tedious and this was the only hotel in our two-week trip to northern Italy which did not have wifi available in some form in the rooms.
